Topic: Rick Grimes

https://wegotthiscovered.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/The-Walking-Dead-Rick-Grimes.jpeg

This world needs Rick Grimes.

Seriously though it's been like 6+ years in the TWD universe, where the heck is he? Judith is twice her age, Michonne is AWOL, the community has all but fallen apart. Everything he helped build is going to rot and there is no sign of him. I can only imagine he's imprisoned, brainwashed or suffering amnesia, because what else would keep you from your child especially in this post-apocalyptical hell. It's not like he's a dead-beat dad so where the heck is he?

More seriously though, am I going to even care when he comes back? The entire vibe of the show is completely different compared to what it was when Rick was around. People since Rick left have been timid first and knifey second (until very recently, I'm looking at you Maggie), I feel like old Rick woulda started wearing skins a lot sooner against the whisperers and would have probably ended Alpha sooner rather than later. I guess all I'm saying is it's been a while, people have changed and a lot has happened. Will Rick still be Rick?

Possible spoiler if you haven't been watching all the shows:

Spoiler

Are we looking at a battle of the three armies kind of thing for the endgame here? Is it going to be the Commonwealth vs the CRM vs Virginia's army? Or do people think that the "cure" will be perfected and distributed somehow making zombies worse? What part would Rick play in the scenario? I'm curious what you people think.

Spoiler

I don't think there's much left of Virginia's army, or is it?

I guess the planned movies will have some Commonwealth vs. CRM action. The good thing about Rick being away for so long is that that allows for more story around the character in those movies. smile

Re: Rick Grimes

I was thinking he'd make an appearance any time in The Walking Dead World Beyond.  If you remember this...

Spoiler

Gabriel recognizes that Anne has been engaging in human trafficking, but she lets him go while she flees to meet with the helicopter. In the episode "What Comes After", she races to the meeting point, insisting to the man she still has her "A". While waiting at the site, she witnesses the smoke set up by Rick's destruction of the bridge, and among the various walker bodies that float down river, she finds a heavily-wounded Rick washed ashore. She reports to the landing helicopter that she has a "B" and he needs their help. Anne and Rick are loaded on the helicopter and taken away.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jadis_(The_Walking_Dead)

When The Walking Dead's Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh) returned on The Walking Dead: World Beyond, it was with an assumed name we've heard before: Stokes. As Warrant Officer Jadis Stokes of the Civic Republic Military, Jadis operates under the identity taken from her short-lived relationship with Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam) on Season 9 of The Walking Dead. The romance died when Jadis (real name Anne) tried to trade Gabriel to the CRM as an "A," nearly dooming him to be a test subject of Project Votus before disappearing with a "B" Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) aboard a CRM helicopter.

So, when she came into the picture in World Beyond and the very organization that is relevant it goes to follow, or seems like it would.

Unfortunately, it was canceled and if there was any potential it's lost now.

Re: Rick Grimes

To be honest I skipped more of World Beyond than I watched it was 'Beyond' tedious to watch..

Spoiler

So then what we're left with is that Rick is an asset to the enemy of the upcoming movie(s). But that still leaves us in the same boat, either Rick is a prisoner, he's brainwashed, or he's suffering amnesia. Him being an asset to the enemy suggests that they can convince him to join them, or brainwash him, or something that makes him give up on his daughter. Does that mean Rick is potentially a bad guy now?

And what about that scene in the World Beyond in what I have to assume was France. The one with the doctor who was watching a video email from Jenner the CDC guy from season 1. She gets shot in the head and turns anyway, sprints across the room and beats the door down. I mean are we looking at super zombies in the movies!

Re: Rick Grimes

With the announcement of Madison coming back on FTW, I've forgotten about Rick...and will see him in his trilogy of spinoff movies.

Spoiler

From what I can gather, everybody else is going to quit as well. Connie, a former award winning journalist,  will become the main hero / protagonist, trading in her  Go Connie! Then she'll cross over with Madison, Alicia and Morgan on a completely new spinoff called "The Cruising Dead" where they are all on board a luxury liner cruiseship that circles the earth, stealing plotlines from Snowpiercer.

Seriously, some of these actors have been on the show 10+ years and probably want to do something else. As much as I love the show, I understand if the actors are burnt out and ready to pivot into something else. Zombies in Space? tongue

Re: Rick Grimes

@BingeWatcher415 you just blew my mind! I had no idea Madison was coming back I hadn't heard anything about that and I'm actually not caught up with Fear the walking dead, after they killed

Spoiler

John Dorey

I had enough of FTWD killing off my favorite characters. But with Madison coming back it changes things, now I have to get caught up.. I always thought in the long run Madison and Rick meeting up in the zombiepocalyse would be like the ultimate teotwawki romance. I mean they'd make a badass apocalyptic Adam and Eve you have to admit.

His killing was senseless and nearly killed me....why kill one of the most likeable characters?. I almost quit watching then as well.

As for Madison, the fact they never showed her turn into a walker left the door open for her to return (and not just in flashbacks). Madison probably left (was killed off) the show due to new showrunners deciding to kill her off (not because she was bored or had other job offers).

Here's the news including.... a new FTWD trailer that might or might not have M in it
