Topic: Season 10

This news is sure to keep that grin on Negan’s face: The Walking Dead has been renewed for Season 11. The pickup was first announced by showrunner Angela Kang during Saturday’s New York Comic Con panel.

Word of the AMC drama’s inevitable renewal comes a little more than 24 hours ahead of the Season 10 debut (Sunday, 9/8c). In the premiere episode, titled “Lines We Cross,”

we pick back up with the group in Oceanside continuing to train in case The Whisperers return. Meanwhile, tensions are high as our heroes struggle to hold onto their concept of civilization.

Walking Dead Renewed for Season 11

Spoiler tag added by me, of course, for those who aren't up to speed. TWD gets bashed like crazy, the ratings stink, and people want to see an ending on the horizon, but this show keeps on trucking. This show had huge drops in ratings in recent years, yet it always finishes as AMC's most-watched TV series by a considerable margin. Some suspect a decent chunk of TWD's ratings decline can be attributed to viewers who'll simply wait until they can binge the full season on Netflix.

However, even in this new era of decline, losing one-third of your audience over the space of a year — and about half your audience over the past three or four years — suggests some viewers simply aren't happy with where the show has gone creatively over the past couple of seasons. Unfortunately, for those who hate the show, it appears it ain't going anywhere anytime soon. tongue

So on that note, let's get ready for Season 10...

Re: Season 10

You would not believe how many comments I've read from people actually believing that

Spoiler

the Whisperers were in possession of a nuclear weapon lols. Symbolically speaking, yeah, that's true, but it's in the form of a massive walker horde.

Haha, funny... smile

Spoiler

"Nuclear weapon" doesn't fit perfectly though... at least you could fortify against a zombie horde. And a zombie horde can't be dropped on you within seconds. Used in a prolonged siege a big horde could be quite deadly though... Ah yes, the Art of Zombie War. big_smile

Re: Season 10

Enjoying the season so far.  I don't watch the show with a super critical eye.

Negan has gone from annoying to hilarious!  Love JDM and what he brings to the role.

Lately, some of the characters have been exploring their darker side.

Unexpected deaths have been upsetting, but it's a zombie apocolypse show so it's inevitable.

Anybody else watch the aftershow, "Talking Dead" with Chris Hardwick?  Makes watching TWD and FTWD a lot more enjoyable. They usually interview recently departed characters and go into a lot of detail with the showrunners.

Re: Season 10

Agreed. This season has been better than expected IMO. I stopped watching Talking Dead during season seven of TWD because that was a low point of the series for me, and I wasn't interested in any interviews at the time. However, I've started watching it again, so far for the past two seasons, and it's been very insightful for both shows.

Re: Season 10

Yeah I'm enjoying this season as well. The new Negan is a lot of fun (he always was, just now we're seeing it from his side of things).

I intentionally don't watch it. Interviews and too many details would (somewhat) ruin the TWD/FTWD illusion for me. smile

big_smile The show is still able to surprise me! smile

Spoiler

I don't recall Carol and Negan interacting much before, but it all seems to have been planned now. Nice plot twist! smile

Go figure:

Special  unknown    A Certain Doom

Season 10 finale, postponed due to COVID-19 outbreak. Will be released sometime in 2020 as a special episode.

Re: Season 10

BREAKING: #TheWalkingDead Season 10 Finale will FINALLY air Sunday, October 4th at 9PM on AMC!

It will be immediately followed by the Series Premiere of #TWDWorldBeyond (and then @AMCTalkingDead)

15

Re: Season 10

October 4th! What a joke... I had expected them to announce a date in two or three weeks!

And, confusingly, the finale won’t be the last we’ve seen of season 10. Speaking at The Walking Dead’s Comic-Con@Home panel, showrunner Angela Kang revealed that there will be six extra season 10 episodes created to run in 2021.

yikes smile

Re: Season 10

...And to make matters even more interesting, it was revealed today that the series will end with an expanded 11th season of 24 episodes, which will be aired over two years. I was gonna create a Season 11 topic but it feels way too early. I've updated the cancellation thread; I'll add the additional info for santah a little later.

Interesting. smile Curious to see what (kind of stories) the spin-off with Daryl and Carol will focus on.

Re: Season 10

Amazing how TWD can have one of the, if not THE, worst episode of the entire series to arguably one the best of the series; back-to-back!

While all of the bonus episodes were less than I had expected: Yes, the Negan episode was the best, but at least the rest wasn't unwatchable. smile
