The heart-breaking, real-life story of a mother's love, courage and determination to change the Double Jeopardy Law, and see her daughter's murderer brought to justice.

The series recounts how tenacious mother of three, Ann Ming, battled for 15 years so that her daughter's murderer could finally face justice, having been controversially acquitted following two mistrials.

Julie disappeared in 1990 and her body was found 80 days later. The killer was acquitted twice due to mistrials but later admitted to the murder. However, the double jeopardy law prevented a retrial ensuring justice for Julie.

I am towards the end of 1x1 and am liking it.  The double jeopardy law is a point of contention for me, so I wanted to see how this show played out.

Re: I Fought the Law

I won't watch it because it doesn't interest me as a story. But on the topic of prohibition of double jeopardy, I once read a very long article by a former judge - at the end, I had to agree with him that it makes sense for societies to have those laws, even if some (very, very few) cases like this makes you question it...

No society will ever have laws that make things just for 100% of the population.
