Topic: Black Summer
Black Summer is a white-knuckle horror-drama set at the beginning of a zombie outbreak. The story follows a group of disparate and desperate characters struggling to come to grips with the reality of their situation, while also struggling to survive their increasingly violent circumstances, as society and the rule of law crumbles around them in real time.

Those that have already seen Black Summer say it's by far one of the most original takes on zombie fiction since 28 Days Later and Dawn of the Dead —which is perfectly fine by me— and since the season is only eight episodes, it feels longer than it needs to be, but still doesn’t feel like its overstaying its welcome. In short, it's a small-screen exercise that's rooted in looking at what a potential zombie apocalypse would actually look like for civilians during those first panic-filled weeks. There are few acts of valiant heroism and just a whole lot of desperation, jump scares and brutal deaths. I was going to put this on hold until I finished up a few shows currently on my plate, but after reading some more into Black Summer, I think I'm going to bump it up in my queue and give it a spin some time over the weekend.
