Watch your future unfold. From the writer of Contagion comes Extrapolations, premiering March 17 on Apple TV+ https://apple.co/_Extrapolations

Extrapolations is a bracing drama from writer, director and executive producer Scott Z. Burns that introduces a near future where the chaotic effects of climate change have become embedded into our everyday lives. Eight interwoven stories about love, work, faith and family from across the globe will explore the intimate, life-altering choices that must be made when the planet is changing faster than the population. Every story is different, but the fight for our future is universal. And when the fate of humanity is up against a ticking clock, the battle between courage and complacency has never been more urgent. Are we brave enough to become the solution to our own undoing before it’s too late?

The series stars Meryl Streep, Sienna Miller, Kit Harington, Daveed Diggs, Edward Norton, Diane Lane, Tahar Rahim, Yara Shahidi, Matthew Rhys, Gemma Chan, David Schwimmer, Adarsh Gourav, Keri Russell, Marion Cotillard, Forest Whitaker, Eiza González, Murray Bartlett, Indira Varma, Tobey Maguire, MaameYaa Boafo, Hari Nef, Heather Graham, Michael Gandolfini, Cherry Jones, Gaz Choudhry, Ben Harper, Judd Hirsch and Neska Rose.

Extrapolations is executive produced by Burns, Gregory Jacobs, Dorothy Fortenberry and Media Res’ Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer. The series marks another partnership for Apple TV+ and Media Res, joining Emmy, SAG and Critics Choice Award winner “The Morning Show,” and AFI Award-winning series “Pachinko.”

Wow, this show has TONS of stars!

Trailer looks promising, it just doesn't look much like a "Comedy" show. cool

Maybe comedy is the tv version of every game on steam being flagged as survival horror.

Do you have anything else to say or add to regarding this show? I like checking out your opinion.

I took in ep01, ep02.. I like the futuristic aspect of it, but it's bound to be a bit polarizing, considering the extreme political views of the masses. I enjoyed ep01 much more than the 2nd (which was rather slow)...and yes certainly no shortage of big Hollywood names involved.

I have yet to encounter the "comedy" label attached to the series..   big_smile

So I am waiting to give it my IMDb rating.

Re: Extrapolations [Comedy (?), Drama, Mystery]

Watched the first ep. The cast is great. Extrapolations are spot on. Don't know about the comedy categorization - it's supposed to be that denial? That would be comedic if that would not be true, it's a fact that there are countless clowns who will be ignorant right till the moment their own yard will be on fire and maybe even after that. Tho the line about the gold-plated coffins designed by Kanye and walrus moment was good. So far seems a normal drama, will see if will or will not take a cringe turn later on.

P.S. About these water purification patents it was bs, if/when the need will arise, all these patents and companies assets will be nationalized and army will explain to those few who will refuse. So there indeed would be "asking nicely". Basically every country has laws that in state of emergency can do whatever.

Near the end of episode 1 there are random shots of a few places. One says 'Bangladesh', look closely at the signs...

I just finished 1x1. I like it, but "Comedy" it is not. cool We'll probably have to remove that label, but let's watch the next few episodes first.

@g371: Very true regarding patents.

oh HELL no. Gave up on this after about 10 minutes. It was like watching CNN climate news hell interspersed with a few billionaire tech arseholes cashing in on the misery. Relentless climate misery porn. Where are the goodies who will save the world? Let me guess... there are none and we're all f**cked.

Ozone issue fixed decades ago, so there is some hope if we extrapolate that. Tho about this one billionaires are not wrong, we will be long dead (I literally checked the data) - the only real oops can happen, if in some 40 years medicine will reach next level and we will live till some 150 big_smile Or if you live near the equator, then you are f-ed.

Another positive scenario, which is quite plausible - if we will get one more pandemic, but with a bit more deadly virus, it's completely clear it would wipe out 30%+ of population same as it happened n times before - extrapolating from how we acted during Covid. And that would solve all climate issues big_smile Actually even now are still lingering positive effects from all lockdowns and new bike lanes smile
