I doubt this will any good. I mean there’s a girl in the show!

At least they’re white and straight, but I’m sure you’ll see some PoC in the background once that’ll ruin the whole show..

You are right. It's 21st century and Spock should be played by Queen Latifah. The show also would gain if those three would be in an open marriage and the central topic of the show should be that captain is fighting a holy war of raising an awareness of man spreading while sitting in captain chairs.

I'm very interested in the characterizing for the main cast, as a fan of most Trek and a franchise media dork, I really liked how D.C. Fontana saw the second crew of the Enterprise, after Robert April turned over command to his First Officer Christopher Pike. But I believe this will be a much different interpretation for some of them cool

Well. I'm hoping it stays true to the tv era from which is originated. I stopped watching Discovery for personal reasons and now Picard because I abhor Whoopi.  I'll watch BNW until it becomes "unwatchable"!

I stopped watching Discovery for it's wokeness and doesn't have the appeal of what I loved about TNG and Deep Space 9. Let's hug and avoid protocol and share our feelings all the time.... OMG... it gets so annoying even the 14yo has switched off.
Just hanging onto Picard but season 2 is starting to get a little meh...

I have to say that this is, for me at least, the best new Star Trek since TNG based on episode 1.

I can not help but think this is going to do either Original Star Trek or Enterprise? but more flashy. I wonder whether there is any thing left to say in this franchise.

101, Really good.  The kind of Star Trek I want to watch.  I like the return to the classic Star Trek structure, narrative, and filming.  Whether it stays that way remains to be seen.  Hopefully ST:SNW will give some proper fan service to the Trek purist's out there and make up for some of the lost ground created by a rather tedious Picard and cesspool ST:D.

It took me back to the original star trek but with better special effects. I just hope the show keeps the same flavour as the 1st episode.

Far better than the recent variations on the original Star Trek theme. Much closer to the original and I enjoyed it. Lets hope that the writers continue in the same way.

So, the first Ep seemed like a mashup of a TNG ep and an The Orville... IDK I was hoping for something more like the older series but also different, updated... and this was not that.

However, when we did get that 'something different,' with the Discovery pilot movie (which I still LOVE to this day) it was followed by what, for me, I can only describe as an underwhelming regular series.

So with any luck, with this, the opposite will happen and the next episode won't be so paint-by-numbers   cool
