I hope this will be good! They've already renewed it for season 2! smile

And I hope I won't find the retro look too distracting... Never was a big fan of TOS. cool

I doubt this will any good. I mean there’s a girl in the show!

At least they’re white and straight, but I’m sure you’ll see some PoC in the background once that’ll ruin the whole show..

You are right. It's 21st century and Spock should be played by Queen Latifah. The show also would gain if those three would be in an open marriage and the central topic of the show should be that captain is fighting a holy war of raising an awareness of man spreading while sitting in captain chairs.

I'm very interested in the characterizing for the main cast, as a fan of most Trek and a franchise media dork, I really liked how D.C. Fontana saw the second crew of the Enterprise, after Robert April turned over command to his First Officer Christopher Pike. But I believe this will be a much different interpretation for some of them cool

I'm pumped Anson Mount is back, loved him in Discovery.

Dammit, why did you have to say that, now some idiot will go to their boss and pitch the idea and call it Star Trek: Woked worlds to infinity and beyond.

Now try to unsee the man spreading in these series

Well. I'm hoping it stays true to the tv era from which is originated. I stopped watching Discovery for personal reasons and now Picard because I abhor Whoopi.  I'll watch BNW until it becomes "unwatchable"!

Well, after totally abandoning Discovery, and just being slightly captivated with Picard,,
I think ST:SNW looks VERY promising.
Anson Mount's distinctive authoritative style of acting already gets accolades from me.
The rest of the cast , plot and production introduction feels comfortable and familiar.

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (May 05, 2022)

I stopped watching Discovery for it's wokeness and doesn't have the appeal of what I loved about TNG and Deep Space 9. Let's hug and avoid protocol and share our feelings all the time.... OMG... it gets so annoying even the 14yo has switched off.
Just hanging onto Picard but season 2 is starting to get a little meh...

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (May 05, 2022)

I have to say that this is, for me at least, the best new Star Trek since TNG based on episode 1.

...where did I put that rat's ass I could give?

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Yes, 1x1 was great!

I'm happy the retro tech doesn't look as simplistic/ bad as it did when shown in that https://next-episode.net/star-trek-discovery episode. smile

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (May 05, 2022)

I can not help but think this is going to do either Original Star Trek or Enterprise? but more flashy. I wonder whether there is any thing left to say in this franchise.

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (May 05, 2022)

101, Really good.  The kind of Star Trek I want to watch.  I like the return to the classic Star Trek structure, narrative, and filming.  Whether it stays that way remains to be seen.  Hopefully ST:SNW will give some proper fan service to the Trek purist's out there and make up for some of the lost ground created by a rather tedious Picard and cesspool ST:D.

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (May 05, 2022)

It took me back to the original star trek but with better special effects. I just hope the show keeps the same flavour as the 1st episode.

22

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (May 05, 2022)

Far better than the recent variations on the original Star Trek theme. Much closer to the original and I enjoyed it. Lets hope that the writers continue in the same way.

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (May 05, 2022)

WOW , here we go !  That was some good Star Trek'in.
Nice simple and clean intro.  Little bit of fun lov'in romance , with some backstory to position the characters current lives.
Any drama is quashed with clever wisdom and humor, focusing on what is relevant.
Ship and crew are fit and mentally in the game.
Crisis situations handled with mature fast thinking.

So far, this is the Star Trek that always left me with that warm fuzzy feeling at the end of each episode.
I think I'll watch S1x01 again, just to soak it in.

Re: Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (May 05, 2022)

So, the first Ep seemed like a mashup of a TNG ep and an The Orville... IDK I was hoping for something more like the older series but also different, updated... and this was not that.

However, when we did get that 'something different,' with the Discovery pilot movie (which I still LOVE to this day) it was followed by what, for me, I can only describe as an underwhelming regular series.

So with any luck, with this, the opposite will happen and the next episode won't be so paint-by-numbers   cool
