Only Murders in the Building is an American mystery-comedy television series, created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman. The series, consisting of ten episodes, premiered on August 31, 2021, on Hulu and Disney+. Only Murders in the Building follows three strangers, played by Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, who share an obsession with a true crime podcast. After a murder in their building, the three neighbors decide to start their own show that covers their investigation of the murder. Only Murders in the Building has received largely positive reviews from critics, who particularly praised its comedic approach to crime fiction and the lead actors' performances. In September 2021, the series was renewed for a second season.

I'm enjoying this show, if for no other reason than the comedy stylings of Martin Short who gets a laugh out of me every episode.  They're currently on episode 108, which was a lot of fun.

Steve Martin's character comes off a bit flat for me, and Selena Gomez paradoxically seems too awkward yet too self assured to ever group up with old has been's like Steve Martin and Martin Short for such a ridiculous reason as a shared interest in true crime podcasts, that I just don't buy it, but regardless, the silliness and mystery makes for fun escapist TV.

I like the background music in this show, the tinkering on the piano.  I'm not against swearing in shows, but the F bombs in this seem a bit out of place and unnecessary.  The twist in 109 was fun.

Martin Short always has the best lines:

Shades of the Freddy/Ruprecht bits from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels when Martin is paralyzed were particularly good in the finale.

Looking forward to S2.

It's the same kind of music they used in the Serial podcast. I wouldn't be surprised if I found out it was the same composer even.

The composer's name is Siddhartha Khosla, and he's done a ton of work on TV.  Loved his work on this.

I had to pause the show almost every episode to finish laughing at Martin Short.  Can't wait for season 2.

i am starting season 3 and i don't think her eyebrows have moved  yet

or maybe that is all i have seen....

She looks like herself again in later seasons (i think she got the cheek filler removed). I always wonder why celebrities don't go straight to the person who fixes botched procedures, instead of looking completely unlike themselves for a couple years first.

she looks like she lot a lot of weight in season 5, but is still mostly expressionless in the show.
i just am not sure if she is unable to show expressions or he character does not
once or twice a season her face does show some things.

season one was the best season
season 5 was the worst over all
season 4 was not great

Steve martin is giving a great showing
martian short has fallen into his usual antics which is disappointing

the guest appearances are great.

the show is worth a watch, but not a rewatch.

i feel they are trying to have great characters in the show
and a great story with great writing.
but it never is as good as they must think it is.

it reminds me of the team detectives of the 70's-80's like heart to heart
which have not aged very well..
(but columbo is still very good)
that is a show that should be brought back
(and elzbith was not it)
