ZeroZeroZero is about international cocaine trafficking and its economic and political effects. The plot will chart family dynamics, Mexican cartels, the 'Ndrangheta (the Calabrian mafia) and corrupt businessmen.

Re: ZeroZeroZero [Crime, Drama]

It's a really good show so far, quality cast, relatively high budget, many different locations. Reminds me of https://next-episode.net/narcos / https://next-episode.net/narcos-mexico and (a bit) of https://next-episode.net/tom-clancys-jack-ryan - ZeroZeroZero is a bit more contemplative in comparison.

8.2/10 (IMDb) with almost 8000 votes.

Check it out if you like the trailer! smile

Re: ZeroZeroZero [Crime, Drama]

Unless you understand Italian, the show is a chore to follow as you must always be watching the screen to see the subtitles. I've watched all the Narcos shows and they do it much better in terms of scripts and direction. Zero has an Italian style that takes some getting used to. So did Dark (German) which easier for me to follow.

Yes, the show is not only English, but I could follow along with the subtitles. Maybe it depends on how many shows with subtitles you watch.

I enjoy the undubbed swearing in the Italian and Mexican parts of the show. big_smile

Re: ZeroZeroZero [Crime, Drama]

I often do other things while watching, something that was common from the beginning of the TV era (I was there). These days it not a book or magazine but checking email and other web traffic or live-chat with other viewer. Having to read subs is a chore too far. Dubbing has been all the rage in the rest of the world for a long time, even if badly done. Quality of dubs does vary quite a bit. Then again it is interesting to watch a dubbed foreign language show when you know some of the non-English dialog. I can usually comprehend most German or Russian dialog and it's interesting to see some of the interpretations the dubbing translators made. In the end, it's a major fail if I have to be watching the screen all the time and I am not the eccentric in that respect.

That's what I call distracted viewing, and I wouldn't do it to ZeroZeroZero or any other great show! smile cool

"Multitasking with electronic media caused a greater decrease in IQ than smoking pot or losing a night's sleep" - and when I decide to watch something I want to fully enjoy it.

When I'm tempted to start checking the news while watching a show I take that as a signal that the show might not be worth my time (anymore).

Finished it - great show! I don't know if something like what was shown actually did happen, but based on what I've read about the mafia and the international drug trade I'm sure it could have happened. (And what happens in Mexico in the show is at least partially based on what happened between the late 1990s and 2010.) Loved the different locations, the acting, all the rest.

Highly recommended if you can handle the subtitles for the non-English scenes. cool

I like this 9/10 review at IMDb:

If Charles Dickens had written an epic cartel/mafia/"Gomorrah"/"Narcos" hybrid script it would have looked something like this: a bingeable, epic, gripping, international crime thriller. A very smart, complex, brutal, clear-eyed script with three major story-lines: Buyers, Sellers, Brokers. Excellent production values; impressive level of detail, a cast of hundreds and some astonishing performances.

And here's some related trivia:

The title ZeroZeroZero is a play on the Italian grading system for flour, which is rated, 2, 1, 0 or 00 depending on how refined it is (double zero being the highest grade). ZeroZeroZero, or triple Zero, here means pure cocaine.
