Re: Fallout [Action, Sci-Fi]

There must be a connection with the old film "A Boy and his Dog" from 1975?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072730/

https://movieweb.com/a-boy-and-his-dog- … spiration/

One of the episodes seem to allude to this "A Man and his dog" poster in the back ground

if you can find a copy of "A boy and his dog" well worth the effort

Re: Fallout [Action, Sci-Fi]

Just finished watching this series, I enjoyed it. Not having played the video game it was all new to me. As previously mentioned the set design was excellent. Left open for a second series.

Re: Fallout [Action, Sci-Fi]

They've really nailed the look and feel of the game, I was very impressed.

2020.  Meh.

Re: Fallout [Action, Sci-Fi]

Never played the game. Just watched the first two episodes. Definitely watching the rest.

That's fine, neither has my wife and she enjoyed the series too.  You really don't have to have played any of the games, any necessary back stories are explained well in the series.  For anyone that has played the games there are tons of little things to spot and nod knowingly to, in a really smug way.

2020.  Meh.

I envy your smug level! lol

Trust me, the attention to detail and set design in Fallout is phenomenal.

I don't doubt it! I just wish I would know the game so well as to be able to spot all those little things. smile

Re: Fallout [Action, Sci-Fi]

What an amazing show. Imo gets the atmosphere of the game right.

The original Fallout game did indeed take it's insiration from many sources.

Has you have also mentioned before Mad Max.

There were also a few more where ideas came from.

Damnation Alley and a RPG called Aftermath.

I would post links but am at the moment not allowed.

I can't help myself, I liked it. I can't tell you why exactly.  I'm looking forward to another season.

Every scene of Fallout was filled with objects from the game, so there's little need for smuggery.

There are some deep cuts though, like Max's maroon colored Brotherhood of Steel (BOS) uniform...

...is not in the game but from a fan made mod...

...as there're only 3 colors of BOS Uniforms in the game; orange, green, and 1 black BOS Officer uniform.

My favorite fan service was the junk jet, albeit underutilized...see spoiler in previous post.

What fan service did you guys like, and want to see more of?

Yay! smile Just the set design alone is awesome.

Well considering the game was influenced by "A Boy and His Dog", you're definitely right smile

Re: Fallout [Action, Sci-Fi]

I found the main characters to be really annoying, however. It was laboring for me to watch, but the ghoul and the last episode really were the redeemers for me. The set was good, too, but I felt like there was a bit too much vegetation to remind me of the wastelands seen in the games. I also got a really creepy mysterious vibe when exploring the games, and the series didn't give that tone to me, unfortunately. That might be a subjective take on my own experiences. However, I do agree that they did complete some scenes like Red Rocket authentically.

Re: Fallout [Action, Sci-Fi]

I loved every minute! As a Fallout Veteran since the very first game back in 97, I loved every new issue… well, maybe not Fallout Tactics…

Anyway, the TV show captures the series perfectly. And of course things are ridiculously overdone, like in the games.

Never thought they would pull it off to build a Fallout show I would like.

And Walton Goggins as The Ghoul is just awesome.

Well, shows they did a good job. Unlike the Rings of Power, the CGI was subtle enough not to totally break immersion.
