Topic: The Last Frontier

The Last Frontier

When a prison transport plane crashes in the remote Alaskan wilderness - freeing dozens of violent inmates - the region's lone marshal must protect the town he's vowed to keep safe.

Although the premise felt a bit weak to me, I gave the first episode a try.

The story is ok, some of the angles feel a bit over-the-top and unnecessary.
Characters are also ok, apart from Frank no one really standing out so far.

But what really kept me engaged were the action scenes...top notch, fast paced and chaotic.
For the most part that's probably thanks to the camera work - nicely done.

Definitely gonna give episode two a shot.

Edited: Music feels a bit weird and doesn't really fit the scenes.

Deserved more runtime:
Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

Re: The Last Frontier

Watched 1x1 & 1x2.

Reasonably plausible and realistic.  Refreshingly so.  No major gripes.  I would put my preliminary rating at 8/10.
So far, better than expected.  Definitely has me hooked.

Re: The Last Frontier

Spoiler

I was reading reviews on IMDB to see what people didn't like about the show.  One person wrote that the wife was ridiculous because when she stole the gun from the antagonist, she didn't shoot him.

Taking another persons life is suppose to be a big deal.  Not an action to be taken lightly.  While its true that when I was watching the scene unfold, I was saying shoot him, shoot him, in my mind.  When she didn't, the thought of it ruining the show didn't even occur to me.

Maybe some viewers have become so accustomed to people dropping like flies due to gunshots on numerous tv shows these days that it has become as natural as breathing just to shoot someone and kill them, just like that.

The wife makes makes the show ridiculous?

See now, that blows my mind.
You could be doing fun stuff, or anything else instead.

I really liked the location and cinematography, and the acting was decent.
Everything else reminds me of a 90's TV movie.

So much 'wtf' this isn't a sci-fi, this is supposed to be a drama/thriller!
I'm out, after 2 eps, I nearly gave up after 1, but this thread convinced me to watch the 2nd one.

I won't say any more and hope you all enjoy it, unless you wish me to point out the things that bothered me.

Big budget? the CGI is done by someone living in their parents basement.

Big budget compared to CBS shows for example, not compared to shows like https://next-episode.net/the-lord-of-th … s-of-power cool

I found the CGI to be totally adequate for this show.

1x7 wasn't as good as most previous episodes, but the end... WOW! yikes Didn't see that coming.
