From the comments section on tvbynumbers:
The good news about the 2 year renewal is that HIMYM is only planned to go 8 seasons so we will now get a proper series finale. The show will end as it’s meant to, unlike Two and a Half Men which is up in the air at the moment regarding will Charlie Sheen return, can it survive with Charlie Sheen?
All 5 leads are signed through to season 8 and Jason Segel did give an interview last summer with GQ which pretty much confirmed 8 seasons is it. In terms of HIMYM itself, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas announced last summer that season 6 onwards is the final third of the tale, which is why this year’s episodes have been so wonderful and an homage to the great early seasons.
So in terms of either Jason Segel leaving or people not wanting to watch beyond season 8, don’t worry because 8 seasons is very likely all there will be. After all, Ted’s got to meet his wife, a.k.a. the mother, soon otherwise their children won’t be the age they are in the 2030 flashforwards. So as I see this legendary news, it’s most likely now we won’t see the mother in this season’s wedding finale (not a spoiler because Bays and Thomas confirmed this last summer) but she’ll be held over to next season’s finale which can now be a cliff-hanger under the guarantee of HIMYM will definitely be back for an 8th season. However, as Michael Ausiello reported last week, there will be a huge reveal about the mother in this season’s wedding finale titled “Challenge Accepted”.
In closing – well done CBS, this double season renewal was long overdue.
And regarding CBS’ 3rd highest rated comedy, I would not be surprised if Mike & Molly got a multi-year renewal seeing as both The Big Bang Theory and now How I Met Your Mother have done so.

I'm both happy and sceptical, where will they go with the show? If we don't learn anything more about the mother soon they're getting sidetracked...

Well, yeah, I tried it... gave it about 5 episodes...
It is one of those shows that just gets you really frustrated... like, some of the characters are just 'too' dumb!

Talking about Community . I didn't find it very good either at first , i started to like it very much after i got to know the characters .
Nightcrow , watch 3 more episodes and if then you still find it terrible then i don't know it means it's you , because here we all love it .
