Re: TV Shows Ratings
Tuesday Night Ratings
CBS won the night with adults 18-49 as both NCIS and NCIS: LA bounced back double digit percentages versus last week.
NCIS was up 22% versus last week to a 4.4 adults 18-49. It edged out the 4.3 rating in adults 18-49 for Glee (which was up 2%). NCIS: Los Angeles was up 18% from last week to a 3.9 adults 18-49 rating but The Good Wife slipped 5% to a series low 1.9 adults 18-49 rating. It was the first time NCIS beat Glee in adults 18-49 this season when both were originals. NCIS: LA saw its highest total viewership of the season and tied its season high with adults 18-49. Fox’s sitcoms were also up double digits with Raising Hope up 14% to a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating and Traffic Light up 21% to a 1.7 rating. At NBC The Biggest Loser was steady versus last week with a 2.7 adults 18-49 rating between 8-10p, and Parenthood was up 11% to a 2.1 rating in adults 18-49. ABC’s No Ordinary Family was down 7% to a series low 1.4 rating with adults 18-49 while V’s 1.9 rating was steady with last week. The Primetime What Would You Do? special did better than Detroit 1-8-7, but not much, pulling just a 1.4 rating. CW’s One Tree Hill was up 25% with CW’s target women 18-34 demographic to a 1.5 rating and up 25% in total viewers.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Wednesday Night Ratings
Led by American Idol’s 7.9 adults 18-49 rating, Fox dominated the night with adults 18-49, and won with total viewers too. That was down 4% from last Wednesday’s episode and down 12% versus a 9.0 adults 18-49 ratings for last year’s equivalent episode of the cycle on Tuesday, February 23 (also a two hour episode). Survivor was up a tenth from its premiere to a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating and Criminal Minds was up two tenths from last week to a 3.4 rating, but Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior looked a little more like a CBS 10pm show in its second week and slumped 24% from its premiere to a 2.5 adults 18-49. The Middle was up a tenth from last week, and Better With You was flat week over week. Modern Family was down 5% to a season low 4.1 adults 18-49 rating and Mr. Sunshine dropped another 11% down to a 2.4 rating. Off The Map was up 13% to a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating. On NBC Minute to Win It was up 20% from last week to a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating between 8-10p and Law & Order: SVU was up 14% to a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating. CW’s reality Wednesday got off to a slow start as America’s Next Top Model could do no better than a 1.1 rating with adults 18-49 and a 1.8 rating with CW’s target women 18-34, that’s about 14% worse than its fall premiere with women 18-34. Shedding for the Wedding was dead on arrival with a 0.5 adults 18-49 rating. Still the CW notes that it was its best reality series premiere in more than two years. But doing better than High Society and Fly Girls isn’t saying too much.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Thursday Night Ratings :
Of course Fox easily dominated the night as the two hour American Idol revealing the final 24 scored a 7.2/20 rating/share in adults 18-49. That’s down 5% from last week’s one hour episode, though for the night overall Fox was about 30% better off than last week due to the extra hour of Idol. It was also ahead of the equivalent telecast last year. The Big Bang Theory was up a tenth versus last week, and in its time period premiere Rules of Engagement was up 8% versus $#*! My Dad Says. But CSI and the The Mentalist were both down 7%, CSI to a series low 2.7 adults 18-49 rating. Against American Idol, Grey’s Anatomy dropped 11% to a series low 3.3 adults 18-49 rating, but Private Practice was up a tenth from last week to a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating. Earlier in the night Winter Wipeout was up 16% versus last week. On NBC, Community, Perfect Couples, The Office and Outsourced were all flat vs. last week, but Parks & Recreation was up 9% to a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating and 30 Rock was up 15% to a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating. The Office and Outsourced tied series lows in adults 18-49. Both The Vampire Diaries and Nikita were down a tenth with adults 18-49 and adults 18-34.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Wow, CSI and Grey's Anatomy numbers look bad. I wonder is it because of AI or maybe the viewers are fed up with these shows.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Friday Night Ratings :
Fox and CBS tied for the night with adults 18-49 and Fringe was steady versus last week with a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating last night. At 8pm Kitchen Nightmares scored a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating, down a tenth from last week’s 1.7. The Defenders and CSI: NY each slipped a tenth to 1.2 and 1.7 adults 18-49 ratings respectively. But Blue Bloods was up two tenth to a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating. Supernatural and Smallville were steady versus last week with each pulling a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating. Fringe’s number was at the lower end of what Fox’s Kevin Reilly has said would be acceptable for a Friday. Barring further drops, a lot of people will be on pins and needles until May. Though Smallville and Supernatural each averaged out to a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating, the half hour data was a little different (1.0, 1.1 for Smallville, 1.0, 0.9 for Supernatural). Though Blue Bloods averaged a higher 1.7 rating (half hour = 1.8, 1.6), the half hour data for CSI: NY was the same only in reverse. (1.6, 1.8). Fringe was a 1.5 for both half hours.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Sunday Night Ratings :
The fast national ratings for the Academy Awards show are down from last year’s comparable numbers, but we’ll have to wait until the time zone adjusted numbers are available later today for an accurate reading of the declines. Last nights Academy Awards drew a fast affiliate 10.6 adults 18-49 rating down 15% from the fast affiliate 12.5 adults 18-49 rating for last year’s show. The fast affiliate average viewership was 33.5 million viewers, but expect both numbers to rise with the time zone adjusted numbers. Even with the likely upwards adjustments, our polled readers look to have been overly optimistic, and the show looks to be on the low side of recent years. We should have time zone adjusted ratings (likely very close to the final ratings) for ABC at approximately 3pm Eastern time today. Last year’s Academy Awards drew a 13.3 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 41.3 million viewers. For more historical perspective, you can check out our table of historical Academy Awards ratings here. In less star studded television, CBS’s 60 Minutes 1.2 adults 18-49 rating was down 14% vs. last Sunday. The Amazing Race’s 2.1 adults 18-49 rating fell 16% from its premiere to a series low for a regular episode. CSI: Miami was down 9% to a series original low 2.0 adults 18-49 rating.

Monday Night Ratings :
With CBS partially in repeats, ABC topped Fox in the adults 18-49 ratings on Monday night. While Univision topped NBC for fourth place. On Fox, House’s 3.8 adults 18-49 rating was up 9% vs. last week, while The Chicago Code’s 2.1 rating was even with last week. CBS’s How I Met Your Mother fell 3% vs. last week to a 3.4 adults 18-49 rating, while Mad Love kept falling, down 4% to a 2.7 rating. Following a Two and a Half Men repeat, Mike & Molly rose 6% to a 3.4 rating. NBC’s Chuck was even with last week’s 1.7 adults 18-49 rating. In its last scheduled episode prior to certain cancellation The Cape fell another tenth to just a 1.1 rating, while Harry’s Law rose to a 1.8 rating, up a tenth from last week. ABC’s The Bachelor drew a 3.4 rating, even with last week, but Castle’s 2.8 rating was up 8% vs. last week. CW’s 90210 scored a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating, even with last week (in the W18-34 demo it was even with a 1.0 rating), while Gossip Girl fell to a 0.7 rating, down a tenth from last week (it was also down a tenth in the W18-34 demo to a 1.4 rating).

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Tuesday Night Ratings :
With 90 minutes of American Idol, Fox towered over the broadcast competition in the adults 18-49 ratings on Tuesday, while Raising Hope hit a series high rating. American Idol’s 7.5 adults 18-49 rating was down 5% from last Wednesday (no Tuesday comparables this season, more historical comparisons coming) , but it lifted Raising Hope to a series high 3.4 rating, up a whopping 42% from last week. ABC’s No Ordinary Family continued slumping towards cancellation, down 14% vs. last week to just a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating. V slipped 5% vs. last week to a 1.8 rating. Charlie Sheen’s craziness gave ABC a huge boost at 10pm as 20/20?s 3.2 rating approached 3x what Detroit 1-8-7 had done recently, and crushed the scripted competition, and our polled readers were pretty close to the mark with their guesses. Idol may have done a number on CBS’s line up, as NCIS as it fell 14% vs. last week to a 3.8 adults 18-49 rating, and NCIS:LA tumbled 18% to a 3.2 rating. Free of Idol and showing little ill effect from the 10pm Sheen craziness, The Good Wife’s 2.2 adults 18-49 rating was up 10% from last week. On NBC, The Biggest Loser’s 2.4 rating was down 11% vs. last week, and Parenthood’s 1.9 adults 18-49 rating was down 10% from last week. The CW’s One Tree Hill fell 11% in adults 18-49 to a 0.8 rating, and Hellcats stayed even, and low, with just a 0.6 adults 18-49 rating.

Wednesday Night Ratings :
American Idol’s 7.7 adults 18-49 rating was down 3% vs. last Wednesday, but it still easily pushed Fox to the top of the ratings heap for the night. Following Idol, Traffic Light, still destined for the dustbin, was lifted to a series high 2.8 rating. On ABC, The Middle’s 2.3 rating was down a tenth from last week tieing a season low, while Better With You’s 1.8 rating was even with last week’s series low.Modern Family’s 4.1 rating was even with last week’s season low, and Mr. Sunshine got some good news, rising 9% vs. last week to a 2.4 rating. Off The Map didn’t share Sunshine’s rise though, it was even with last week’s 1.7 rating. CBS’s entire line up caught an updraft, as Survivor rose 6% vs. last week to a 3.3 adults 18-49 rating, and Criminal Minds 3.6 rating was 13% higher than last week, while Criminal Minds: Subject Behavior rose 8% (perhaps it was that Law & Order:SVU had a repeat) to a 2.6 rating. After a disappointing premiere, CW’s America’s Next Top Model fell another 18% to a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating (among women 18-34 it drew a 1.5 rating, down 21% vs. last week). While the spectacularly unwatched Shedding For The Wedding drew just a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating, down 20% from last week’s premiere (its 0.8 women 18-34 rating was down 20% vs. last week). On NBC, the new Minute to Win It at 9pm scored the same series low 1.0 adults 18-49 rating that the 2 hour episode had last week. Just Cranked it up a notch

Thursday Night Ratings :
Against almost a complete slate of repeats on broadcast television, American Idol dominated the ratings Thursday night.
American Idol’s 8.1 adults 18-49 rating was up 13% vs. last Thursday. That was also up 29% vs. the comparable telecast last season (3/11/10, 6.3 A18-49 rating) Flying solo, the only other new show on broadcast TV last night, CBS’s Rules of Engagement, tumbled 18% vs. last week to just a 2.3 adults 18-49 rating. Against the English broadcast repeats, Univision finished third for adults 18-49, ahead of both NBC and ABC.Interesting to note that NBC’s “All Office” repeat Thursday at least beat ABC’s line up.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Friday Night Ratings :
With CBS in partial repeats and Fox airing the NAACP Image Awards , NBC’s normal Friday night lineup won out. Dateline averaged a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating from 9-11p, up 29% from last week and from 10-11p averaged a 2.1 rating with adults 18-49. Dateline was boosted at 10pm by more Charlie Sheen (the interviews for ‘Today’).
Smallville and Supernatural were steady vs. last Friday with each pulling a 1.0 adults 18-49 rating and led CW to a victory for the night with adults 18-34 (1.0 rating) and men 18-34 (1.1 rating). Two-thirds of CBS’s lineup was in repeats, and compared to originals, those repeats of CSI: NY and Blue Bloods held up pretty well with their best repeat performance of the season. At 8pm The Defenders was new and up 25% from last week to a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating, its best outing since moving to Fridays. The NAACP Image Awards didn’t come close to the combination of Kitchen Nightmares and Fringe, pulling just a 0.6 rating with adults 18-49 from 8-10p.

Archer’s 0.5 adults 18-49 rating and Beyond Scared Straight’s a 0.7 adults 18-49 rating were both the same as last week. ▼Spoiler The First 48 (A&E, 9pm) - 1.685 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 Beyond Scared Straight (A&E) - 1.704 million viewers - 1.1/2 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 Million Dollar Listing (BRAVO, 9pm) - 0.828 million viewers - 0.6/1 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 Man vs Wild (DISC, 9pm) - 1.025 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 Archer (FX, 10pm, 31 minutes) - 1.021 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.5/2 A18-49 Jersey Shore (MTV, 10pm) - 7.772 million viewers - 4.7/8 HH - 4.1/12 A18-49 - 7.6/22 W18-34 - 6.2/24 T12-17 TNA: Impact (SPIKE, 9pm, 130 minutes) - 1.847 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Police Women of Cincinnati (TLC, 9pm) - 1.083 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 NBA Game (TNT, 8:16pm, 157 minutes) - 2.715 million viewers - 1.8/3 HH - 1.1/3 A18-49 NBA Game (TNT, 10:53pm, 148 minutes) - 1.471 million viewers - 1.0/2 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Fairly Legal (USA) - 3.205 million viewers - 2.2/4 HH - 0.9/3 A18-49

Strange how they think that basically all CW shows will be renewed (not counting Smallville, of course). Or maybe CW is that desperate?

Monday Night Ratings :
Fox won the night with adults 18-49 and total viewers led by House with a 3.8 adults 18-49 rating and a The Chicago Code that was steady with another 2.1 adults 18-49 rating. The Event returned from hiatus in worse ratings shape than when it left. Its 1.4 adults 18-49 rating was down 26 percent from the 1.9 rating for its previous episode in late November. Clearly a victory for “out of sight, out of mind’ over “absence makes the heart grow fonder.” Fans of The Event will cue the “what did they expect! It was off the air for over 3 months and they hardly promoted the return” music in the comments, while Chuck fans try to restrain themselves from smirking. Harry’s Law was flat from last week with a 1.8 rating with adults 18-49, but considering both Hawaii Five-0 and Castle were repeats last night, that’s pretty disappointing. The repeat of Hawaii Five-0 had a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating to win the hour. Harry’s Law did hit a five week high in total viewers with a PR friendly 9.4 million. ABC’s The Bachelor was down 11% from last week to a 3.1 adults 18-49 rating. Without a new How I Met Your Mother as a lead in, Mad Love was down 11% to a series low 2.4 adults 18-49 rating.
