Re: TV Shows Ratings
Phew. Fringe’s Friday premiere 1.9 adults 18-49 rating was a fraction above its Fall 18-49 average rating (1.88) and 12% above its latest new episode (1.7 adults 18-49). That’s much better than most of our polled readers expected. If it can maintain that level, I’d expect it to be renewed. That wasn’t the only good ratings news for Fox as the season premiere of Kitchen Nightmares also scored a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating and Fox topped all broadcast networks among adults 18-49.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Sunday Primetime Ratings: Due to the nature of live programming the ratings for CBS (NFL ) are approximate and subject to more than the typical adjustments in the final numbers. While not live, Hawaii Five-0 ran immediately following the post game coverage in all time zones which has the same impact on these preliminary ratings as live events. We’ll have to wait for time zone adjusted fast national data and/or final numbers to know how the game and Hawaii Five-0 really did See below for more information on these Fast Affiliate Ratings. Of course CBS crushed the competition with the AFC Championship between the Steelers and the Jets. ’Hawaii Five-o’. The numbers for both the game and Hawaii Five-0 will probably be adjusted up in the final numbers (plus we’re missing about 15 minutes of Hawaii Five-0 that ran outside of primetime) and should be ignored until the final numbers or at least time-zone adjusted numbers are in (I’ll update this post as soon as I see them). In the metered markets (which are time zone adjusted), the game was the highest-rated AFC Championship since the 1987 Browns-Broncos classic that featured “The Fumble.” Against the AFC Championship and the special airing of ‘Hawaii Five-0? afterwards, the competition was in repeats with their highest-rated programs. ABC ran new episodes of ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ and ‘Extreme Makeover,’ but repeats of ‘Desperate Housewives’ and ‘Brothers & Sisters’. Fox was all-new with the exception of ‘Family Guy,’ which was a repeat – not great news news for ‘The Cleveland Show” which was down 11% to a 2.4 rating. . Earlier in the night The Simpsons was even with last week with a 3.1 adults 18-49 rating and the third episode of ‘Bob’s Burgers’ dropped 12% to a 2.2 rating. NBC went with a new ‘Dateline’ at 7p and the broadcast television premiere of the ‘Sex and the City’ movie. Notes: CBS’s coverage of game ran until about 9:50p ET followed by post-game coverage. Hawaii Five-0 began at about 10:13p ET.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: ▼Spoiler These first national ratings, including demographics, are available at approximately 11 AM (ET) the day after telecast, and are released to subscribing customers daily. These data, from the National People Meter sample, are strictly time-period information, based on the normal broadcast network feed, and include all programming on the affiliated stations, sometimes including network programming, sometimes not. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns. For example, with a World Series game, Fast Affiliate Ratings would include whatever aired from 8-11PM on affiliates in the Pacific Time Zone, following the live baseball game, but not game coverage that begins at 5PM PT. The same would be true of Presidential debates as well as live award shows and breaking news reports.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Monday Primetime Ratings: FOX won the night with adults 18-49 as House pulled a 3.7 adults 18-49 up 6% from last week and Lie to Me had an impressive bounce up to a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating, up 39% from last week and it’s best rating since November 2009, and likely wreaking some havoc on my “Bubble Watch” prediction. Both Harry’s Law (2.1 adults 18-49 rating) and Chuck (2.0 adults 18-49 rating) were down one-tenth from last week’s final numbers. Both shows were even with last week’s preliminary adults 18-49 rating, so there’s a chance either or both will be even with last week when all is said and done. Either way, for Harry’s Law it was the smallest drop from week one to week two for any new drama this season. The Cape was down more, cloaking an additional two-tenths of a percent of adults 18-49 and falling to a 1.6. Castle returned with a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating.
Friday Cable Ratings: ‘Gold Rush: Alaska’ and a late NBA game on ESPN topped Friday night cable with a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating. ’Gold Rush’ was down from last week’s 1.3 adults 18-49 rating. In kids’ programming Disney’s ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ edged out Nickelodeon’s ‘Victorious’ ‘Spartacus: Gods of the Arena’ premiered better than ‘Blood and Sand’ last year, though was down from ‘Blood and Sand’s’ finale. ’Merlin’ had a few more viewers than ‘Gods of the Arena’ but trailed it with adults 18-49 (0.4 rating vs. 0.5 for ‘Gods of the Arena’), but Merlin was stable vs. last week. ▼Spoiler Flying Wild Alaska (DISC) - 2.431 million viewers - 1.5/3 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 Gold Rush: Alaska (DISC, 10pm) - 3.299 million viewers - 2.1/4 HH - 1.1/4 A18-49 Wizards of Waverly Place (DISN) - 3.412 million viewers - 2.0/4 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 - 2.8/12 T12-17 - 4.3/15 K2-11 The Soup (E!) - 1.081 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Fashion Police Weekly (E!) - 0.692 million viewers - 0.5/1 HH - 0.3/1 A18-49 NBA Game (ESPN, 8:06pm, 152 minutes) - 1.844 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 0.8/3 A18-49 NBA Game (ESPN, 10:38pm, 143 minutes) - 2.369 million viewers - 1.5/3 HH - 1.1/4 A18-49 The Ricky Gervais Show (HBO, 9pm, 24 minutes) - 0.209 million viewers - 0.1/0 HH - 0.1/0 A18-49 Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO, 10:01pm, 56 minutes) - 1.109 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.3/1 A18-49 Victorious (NICK, 8:30pm) - 3.285 million viewers - 1.9/3 HH - 0.5/2 A18-49 - 2.8/11 T12-17 - 4.2/14 K2-11 Supah Ninjas (NICK) - 2.561 million viewers - 1.4/2 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 - 1.8/7 T12-17 - 3.7/13 K2-11 1000 Ways to Die (SPIKE, 10pm) - 1.254 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.5/2 A18-49 Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (STARZ, 10:01pm, 57 minutes) - 1.097 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.5/1 A18-49 WWE Smackdown (SYFY, 120 minutes) - 3.295 million viewers - 1.8/3 HH - 1.0/3 A18-49 Merlin (SYFY) - 1.557 million viewers - 0.9/2 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 Say Yes to the Dress (TLC, 9pm) - 1.453 million viewers - 1.0/2 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Say Yes to the Dress (TLC, 9:30pm) - 1.585 million viewers - 1.1/2 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Four Weddings (TLC) - 1.122 million viewers - 0.8/1 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 Star Wars: The Clone Wars (TOON) - 2.210 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 0.5/2 A18-49 - 1.6/7 T12-17 - 2.3/8 K2-11

We'll see when CBS comedies return. I'm sad that Castle has lost some of its viewers, especially since not long ago it was receiving ratings closer to 3.0 and without DwtS help.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Tuesday Primetime Ratings: As has been typical, NBC led the broadcast network coverage of last night’s State of the Union address and coupled with the 3.0 rating for The Biggest Loser: Couples at 8pm easily won the night with adults 18-49 in the preliminary numbers. As noted in the red disclaimer above, coverage of live events mucks up the preliminary numbers and we’ll have to wait for the final numbers. As of this writing (8:40a PT) we’ve not seen any of the cable news networks’ coverage of The Event yet. We’ll see those later today along with the final broadcast numbers and an aggregate tally across all networks. Only then will we know whether more or less people watched this year’s address than last year’s. The CW returned with new episodes of One Tree Hill and Hellcats, and like most CW shows this season they both average a 0.9 rating with adults 18-49. In CW’s target demographic of women 18-34, One Tree Hill averaged a 1.8 rating and Hellcats a 1.5. The 2.16 million total viewers for Hellcats was the most since September 29, and overall on the night it was CW’s most-watched Tuesday this season. <No image, since only The CW aired new episodes> Sunday Cable Ratings: Bravo’s Real Housewives of Atlanta was up 0.1 from last week to a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating for its penultimate episode of the season and scored a series high 3.43 million viewers. It edged out the premiere of Kourtney & Kim Take New York that scored a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating. Almost as many people watched American Idol as watched the state of the union address and some of those will be because there was nothing else for them to watch....

Re: TV Shows Ratings
American Idol’s 9.2 rating in adults 18-49 retained 95% of last Wednesday’s 9.7, and is down only 9% vs. the equivalent telecast last year, narrowing the year-to-year losses experienced last week, and in line with normal year-to-year declines in recent years. Comparisons to last year are a little tricky for last night since the equivalent episode last year was only 61 minutes (Tuesday, January 19, 2010). That episode had a 10.1 adults 18-49 rating and was on par with the previous Wednesday premiere (January 13, 2010, 90 minutes). It was the highest week two vs. week one retention since 2006 (season 5). With the 8-9:30p portion of ABC’s comedy lineup in repeats, Cougar Town was down 13% to a season low 2.1 adults 18-49 rating and Off The Map was down 14% to a series low 1.8 adults 18-49 rating. Paula Abdul’s Live To Dance was still pounded by Idol, but was up 10% to a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating. Criminal Minds was also up 10% from last week to a 3.2 adults 18-49 rating. Blue Bloods was flat with a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating in its second Wednesday outing. Chase was up 20%, but that only got it up to a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating. Tuesday Cable Ratings: ‘The Game’ dropped again, but was still impressive in its third episode from a 2.8 adults 18-49 rating last week to a 2.3 rating last night. That tied with MTV’s ‘Teen Mom 2,’ though ‘The Game’ held the advantage in total viewers. ‘Teen Mom’ was up 0.2 with adults 18-49 vs. last week. BET and MTV are both happy networks when it comes to these two shows. ‘Tosh.0? was up a tenth to a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating. ‘Southland’ was up a tenth from last and hit season highs with a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating. ‘White Collar’ was steady vs. last week with adults 18-49 (though up in total viewers and adults 25-54). ‘Lights Out’ was steady in its third episode, holding on to last week’s 0.4 rating though shedding a few viewers to 819,000. By comparison, the third episode of ‘Terriers’ had already dropped to a 0.2 rating and 568,000 viewers. ▼Spoiler The First 48 (A&E, 8pm) - 1.782 million viewers - 1.1/2 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 The First 48 (A&E, 9pm) - 1.955 million viewers - 1.3/2 HH - 0.8/2 A18-49 The Game (BET) - 4.648 million viewers - 2.7/4 HH - 2.3/6 A18-49 - 3.8/10 W18-34 Let’s Stay Together (BET) - 2.763 million viewers - 1.6/3 HH - 1.3/4 A18-49 - 2.0/6 W18-34 Tosh.0 (CMDY, 10pm) - 3.408 million viewers - 1.9/3 HH - 2.0/5 A18-49 - 4.1/12 M18-34 Onion Sportsdome (CMDY) - 1.443 million viewers - 0.8/1 HH - 0.9/3 A18-49 - 2.0/6 M18-34 Cupcake Wars (FOOD) - 1.588 million viewers - 1.0/1 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Chopped (FOOD) - 2.200 million viewers - 1.3/2 HH - 0.8/2 A18-49 Lights Out (FX, 62 minutes) - 0.819 million viewers - 0.6/1 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 Teen Mom (MTV, 10pm) - 4.048 million viewers - 2.7/5 HH - 2.3/6 A18-49 - 5.5/15 W18-34 - 2.6/10 T12-17 What Not to Wear (TLC, 9pm) - 1.449 million viewers - 1.0/2 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 Southland (TNT) - 2.202 million viewers - 1.4/2 HH - 0.8/2 A18-49 Hardcore Pawn (TRU, 10pm) - 1.926 million viewers - 1.2/2 HH - 0.8/2 A18-49 Hardcore Pawn (TRU, 10:30pm) - 1.873 million viewers - 1.1/2 HH - 0.8/2 A18-49 White Collar (USA) - 3.898 million viewers - 2.4/4 HH - 1.3/4 A18-49 RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1 airing of Monday LOGO original, 9pm, 90 minutes) - 0.653 million viewers - 0.5/1 HH - 0.3/1 A18-49

I wonder what CBS will do with Blue Bloods, because it's getting rather bad 18-49 ratings and a lot of total viewers at the same time.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Thursday Primetime Ratings: Of course Fox won the adults 18-49 ratings on Thursday night. American Idol easily topped the night with an 7.6 adults 18-49 rating, down 3% vs. last Thursday’s 7.8 rating. Thursdays for Idol are still taking a toll though, that was down 23 percent from the equivalent episode last year (Wednesday, January 20, 2010 from 8-9p) that had a 9.9 adults 18-49 rating. Wednesday night’s episode was only down 9% vs. the equivalent Tuesday a year earlier. Bones was up 11% vs. last week to a 3.9 adults 18-49 rating, its highest rating in nearly four years (2/14/07). Community was flat vs. last week with a 2.2 adults 18-49 rating and Perfect Couples was down 19% to a 1.7 adults 18-49 rating. With last week’s Thursday debut of the three hour comedy block, NBC ran against repeats on ABC from 9p-11p, this week both ABC & CBS were in repeats from 9p-11p. That didn’t seem to help The Office, Parks & Recreation or 30 Rock. ‘Office’ was down 11% to a 4.0 adults 18-49 rating, ‘Parks’ was down 6% to a 3.0 and ’30 Rock’ was down 11% to a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating. Outsourced was the only NBC comedy up on the night, but it was only 6% to 1.9 rating. ABC’s Winter Wipeout was down 8% to a 2.4 adults 18-49 rating and with a repeat of ‘Big Bang’ as its lead in, $#*! My Dad Says was down 18% to a series low 2.3 adults 18-49 rating. The Vampire Diaries returned to a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating and a 2.3 rating with women 18-34. Nikita returned with a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating, and its best overall numbers since October, wrecking Bill’s prediction that all CW shows other than TVD would pull a 0.9 adults 18-49 rating for the week. There’s still a sliver of hope for Bill in the finals if a lot of people were watching whatever preempted the CW lineup in Baltimore and Chicago.
Wednesday Cable Ratings: A&E had the top two shows and three telecasts of the night with adults 18-49 with ‘Storage Wars’ pulling a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating and 3.32 million viewers in its 10:30p telecast and a 1.1 and 2.52 million with its 10pm telecast. ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’s’ 200th episode was #2 for the night with adults 18-49 with a 1.3 rating along with 3.04 million viewers. TV Land’s ‘Hot in Cleveland’ shed more than 20% of its total viewers from its season premiere (from 2.949 million to 2.295 million), but through the magic of rounding was steady with adults 18-49 with a 0.7 rating. Already posted separately the numbers for Syfy’s premiere of ‘Face Off,’ but it scored a 0.7 rating and 1.44 million viewers at 10pm. ▼Spoiler Dog the Bounty Hunter (A&E, 9pm) - 3.038 million viewers - 1.9/3 HH - 1.3/3 A18-49 Storage Wars (A&E, 10:30pm) - 3.324 million viewers - 2.1/4 HH - 1.5/5 A18-49 Sons of Guns (DISC, 9pm) - 1.487 million viewers - 1.0/1 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Sons of Guns (DISC, 9:30pm) - 1.692 million viewers - 1.1/2 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 NBA Game (ESPN, 9:38pm, 160 minutes) - 1.263 million viewers - 0.8/2 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Restaurant Impossible (FOOD) - 1.309 million viewers - 0.9/2 HH - 0.5/1 A18-49 Ancient Aliens (HIST, 9pm, 120 minutes) - 1.309 million viewers - 0.9/1 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 I Used to Be Fat (MTV) - 1.383 million viewers - 0.9/2 HH - 0.8/2 A18-49 - 1.8/6 W18-34 Ghost Hunters International (SYFY) - 1.234 million viewers - 0.8/1 HH - 0.5/1 A18-49 Face Off (SYFY) - 1.440 million viewers - 0.9/1 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 My Strange Addiction (TLC, 9pm) - 1.154 million viewers - 0.8/1 HH - 0.5/1 A18-49 Toddlers & Tiaras (TLC) - 1.195 million viewers - 0.8/1 HH - 0.5/1 A18-49 Operation Repo (TRU, 9pm) - 1.635 million viewers - 1.1/2 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Operation Repo (TRU, 9:30pm) - 1.426 million viewers - 1.0/2 HH - 0.5/1 A18-49 Hot in Cleveland (TVL) - 2.295 million viewers - 1.5/3 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 Retired at 35 (TVL) - 1.491 million viewers - 1.0/2 HH - 0.4/1 A18-49 Celebrity Rehab (VH1, 10pm) - 1.042 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49

Re: TV Shows Ratings
I hope that Perfect Couples and Outsourced will be cancelled. Actually, I think that PC and 30 Rock should change places, it would be better for 30 Rock.

P-Rex had a good lead in with the office . For me it's fine as it is , because P-rex is doing good and is still safe ; and i don't think NBC would cancel 30 Rock no matter what.

Re: TV Shows Ratings
Friday Primetime Ratings: Fox won Friday night with adults 18-49 and 18-34. In its second Friday, Fringe once again averaged a 1.9 rating with adults 18-49 even though its lead in, Kitchen Nightmares was down two tenths from last week to a 1.7 rating with adults 18-49. It was a mish-mash Friday where other than Fox’s lineup, only Primetime What Would You Do?, 20/20 and Dateline NBC were originals. Some CW fans were very upset that the CW changed the schedule on Thursday afternoon to delay the returns of originals of Smallville and Supernatural by a week, instead opting for a variety of reasons to air encores of Thursday’s The Vampire Diaries (0.6 adults 18-49 rating in the repeat) and Nikita (0.4 adults 18-49 rating) on Friday night. Some of those fans were even more upset once they saw that CW’s fears around American Idol and some local preemptions didn’t come to pass and The Vampire Diaries and Nikita had a strong Thursday outing. Look for more outrage from DVR viewers who got repeats of The Vampire Diaries and Nikita instead of Smallville and Supernatural. My series recording settings for Supernatural on my DVR (Comcast) did indeed pick up Nikita. The perils of last minute schedule changes.
Thursday Cable Ratings: Jersey Shore was down 0.2 with adults to a 4.5 rating with adults 18-49, but that stillbeat everything on TV last night not named American Idol. The second week of Royal Pains rose by a tenth and Fairly Legal dropped a tenth of an adults 18-49 ratings point from the premieres last week. A ‘Real Housewives’ reunion and ‘Beyond Scared Straight’ each scored a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating. I posted about the Archer premiere earlier. While down from the season one premiere, the season two was up from the finale and last year’s averages. ▼Spoiler The First 48 (A&E, 9pm) - 2.425 million viewers - 1.5/2 HH - 0.9/2 A18-49 Beyond Scared Straight (A&E) - 3.418 million viewers - 1.9/3 HH - 1.5/4 A18-49 Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills Reunion, Part 1 (BRAVO, 9pm) - 2.552 million viewers - 1.8/3 HH - 1.3/3 A18-49 Winter X Games Day 1 (ESPN, 9:04pm, 133 minutes) - 1.279 million viewers - 0.7/1 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 Archer (FX, 10pm, 32 minutes) - 1.529 million viewers - 1.0/2 HH - 0.7/2 A18-49 Brad Meltzer’s Decoded (HIST) - 1.441 million viewers - 0.9/2 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Jersey Shore (MTV, 10pm) - 8.833 million viewers - 5.4/9 HH - 4.5/13 A18-49 - 8.3/24 W18-34 - 8.1/30 T12-17 TNA: Impact (SPIKE, 9pm, 123 minutes) - 1.934 million viewers - 1.1/2 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 Police Women of Cincinnati (TLC, 9pm) - 1.406 million viewers - 0.8/1 HH - 0.6/2 A18-49 NBA Game (TNT, 8pm, 163 minutes) - 2.784 million viewers - 1.9/3 HH - 1.1/3 A18-49 NBA Game (TNT, 10:43pm, 153 minutes) - 1.878 million viewers - 1.2/3 HH - 0.8/3 A18-49 Royal Pains (USA, 61 minutes) - 4.342 million viewers - 2.8/4 HH - 1.2/3 A18-49 Fairly Legal (USA, 59 minutes) - 4.095 million viewers - 2.7/5 HH - 1.0/3 A18-49

Re: TV Shows Ratings
I don't quite understand your enthusiasm since Fringe once again was going against repeats. Next week should be a proper test (unless CW decides to frack with the viewers again ). As for CW, I'm super glad that the repeats got horrible ratings, even VD which is their most successful show atm.
