Re: The Cape
The music was so cheesy, and...the whole circus thing...meh...good effort, but it was like a really bad movie more than anything.

Come on Rob, it's not a live action drama, its a show about a superhero....it is a comic! I really think you are going to get frustrated and disappointed if you don't think of it purely as a comic. Half of the opening credits are a comic, the other half are of the comic turning into the real people playing the characters...he based his identity on his kids comic! I think there is definitely a theme. I'm calling it early, it will have every cliche known to comic books. The first one, his mate that got him to join ARK will get a superhero/supervillian identity as well. Re: The Capeok i took a deep breath and watched it. Re: The Cape
I get the feeling that it'll have every cliche as well...but that'll be bad. It already seems like it's verging on being a spoof...I was hoping for a more dramatic interpretation of comicbook content, a la Chris Nolan's Batman films. They did come up with a decent origin scheme, but it was totally wasted due to the fact that it was so rushed in the storytelling. -Rob Re: The CapeMy problems with this show is, the storyline in episodes seems rushed and were getting next to no character development from any one so it's just feels like to me that the characters are just doing things for the sake of doing them but with zero motives behind their actions so theirs no vested emotions into what happens with any one. I know going into writing the pilot they didn't know it was going to air with back to back episodes, but I think in terms of character development and story telling they would have been better off if the first episode ended with maybe him getting framed for being chess or at the very least the training of being the cape was just starting. This would maybe give them more time to flesh out the villain chess outside of the fact he's evil because he killed a guy. In the first episode the only thing to give off that chess is suppose to be this big evil that's from what I can tell going to be the main enemy for the cape is the fact he killed the police chief and now runs the police, but it was done in such away that I have zero interest in the character at all. He seems very one dimensional and the whole plot with him and being evil felt very rushed. The thing with the circus bank robbers felt at best out of place and the training to being the cape was worked up all for what was maybe 2mins of a training montage and the stuff that happened on the boat just felt kind of forced since the whole episode felt rushed so their was no interest in my part as to what was happening and whether or not any one died. The second episode was better sort of, I could have done with out the guy breaking into chess's apartment going onto his computer then getting jumped since none of that made much sense from someone whose suppose to be a cop it seemed like a rather idiotic thing to do. The whole thing with him losing the cape only to get it back seemed like it's only purpose was to make the joke about the fact that he wasn't wearing a cape. Him flashing away from chess after beating the poison guy was the only cool thing to happen in both episodes. Also it's obvious to pretty much every one that Summer Glau's character is going to have something that connects her to chess since the obsession of having no one see her and the fact the character is loaded. I just wished this show was better since I want to like it but their just to much about it that needs to be fixed with the writing and the pacing of the show right now. I will probably give it one more episode to see if it improves although it probably won't matter since the ratings weren't great and I can see them falling next week once more shows returns. Re: The CapeRe: The CapeWatched 1 et 2 and had trouble to keep my concentration and got bored before the middle of the second one. This thing won't last. (No, in fact, I already had trouble in the first episode but at the second one, I realised I needed to go on the throne). All has already been said, the first throws so much stuff in your face that you're "huh wut?"... Second, you're waiting for the end of it. Pros: Seeing S. Glau with a bit more expression in her face (finally) than the crying/lost/poodle/I'mtough/allatonce she had all over Firefly and Sarah... (Sorry, she might be cute but except some cool leg moves, acting is not there yet but she's showing some potential in this.) Myka : You slept with her didn't you ?
Pete : Well... you... you told me to investigate ok ? So... she's unarmed. Re: The Capethese comic type shows have a problem - they can't spread the back story on how the hero became one for many episodes - that's why they had a double episode. Re: The CapeIt was what i expected, nothing special and kind of simple, but enjoyable and i will probably countinue watch it for a while. And Jennifer Ferrin who playes his wife, GOD she is beautiful!!! "The speed of the Ninja, is the speed of the night."
Re: The CapeI felt asleep at my first try to watch the pilot, but made it through at the second time. It's all been said before so I cut right to the chase: Not my cup of tea. Too much comic style with boring dialogs and flat main character/hero. Summer was nice and I liked her smile, but even with all her gadgets she can't convince me to keep this show on my watchlist I get the feeling that alot of series and big screen movies in the last couple of years are developed from comic books. Maybe it's an American phenomenon but in most other parts of the world people are not that strong into comics. So besides in the US those movies rather have mediocre ratings elsewhere. Re: The Capefor some weird reason , earlier today aired the 720p of episode 3 (called Kozmo) - with no regular 350mb rip. Re: The CapeThe.Cape.2011.S01E03.HDTV.XviD-KaLa Re: The CapeI'm so glad it's not just me! Re: The Cape***** SPOILER ALERT ***** For a show that's for comic book fans i feel like it underestimates their intellect and attention to detail. For the most part the first episode was really good. The introduction of the circus crew and our personal favorite hacker played by summer glau and especially the fall of our hero and his rise as a vigilante. It was a bit rushed but they did a good job. My only gripe is how does a guy disappear out of sight but still get shot by the bad guys? Now the 2nd and 3rd episodes were alright but i don't feel they were aired in the right order. They immediately introduce new super villains and possibly a whole house of assassins rather then take care of the hero's immediate priorities, his family. I don't know about you but having a lunatic like CHESS try to kill you falls short in comparison to the betrayal of a best friend, who is still close with the hero's family. I feel the writers just got it wrong. They started something good with the first episode but didn't really follow through. The second and third eps just feel like fillers to me as they ignore the loose ends from the first episode. But at least you get to see summer do the splits at the end of the third ep :-) Re: The Capestill don't get the vibe off this show. 48 2011-01-18 17:32:10 (edited by xrnzaaas 2011-01-18 17:32:50)50 2011-01-18 17:42:00 (edited by xrnzaaas 2011-01-18 17:42:32)Re: The CapeI know it's not bad, but: I really hoped this show would be a hit, but unless it does a 'Chuck number' and gains viewers somehow it will probably end with one (short) season. And I don't see NBC trying to push it at all cost like they did with the last season of Heroes. Posts: 26 to 50 of 106Forums - Next Episode → TV Show Discussions → The Cape |
