Re: 3x04
Somehow, this season is ... weird. First, I was thrilled with the vampire politics aspect, but now it's lost a lot of its shine. The whole Jason and Bud storyline is just retarded (ok, admittedly, all of Jason's storylines so far were retarded, but at least they had boobs in them - the only pair of boobs I see coming are Bud's and hell no, I don't want to see those ) and Bill is acting very illogical as well. If it's the typical "being mean to you because I love you and want to protect you" story than it's pretty badly written and I'd prefer they stick with the books' story of him having been sent to Bon Temps to seduce Sookie on the queen's orders.
The werewolf story is weak so far as well - although I like Alcide - and the only interesting part was Tara's new "boyfriend" for showing us that vampires are still truly frightening. Lafayette was acting like an idiot in this episode (going to a redneck drug drop in a car like that?) and while Eric swooping in and kicking ass was awesome, it was very out of character for Eric. And Eric and Pam blaming Bill in front of the magistrate was just lame. Dunno, so far this season is very underwhelming.

Agreed with everything the above poster said
Re: 3x04
I disagree. While the season IS wierd, I think it's an improvement over that damn Mary-Anne thing making huge orgies all over the place.
First off, Jason's storylines have all been retarded. First he runs off with a girl from a vampire bar, joins those light's hope foundation lunatics, etc etc. Now he got it into his head to try to become a cop, wich is pretty much just as stupid as all the rest of his ideas, but Andy seems to be able to pull it off anyway. However, the new and maybe more interesting aspect of Jason's storyline is this new "Crystal" and her dark secret. I bet it's going to evolve and turn out that she's either some sort of supernatural being, or she has something to do with such. Or maybe she's just involved in drugs and can't get involved with a cop. Either way I think it can be promising.
On the subject of Bill, it seems to me they are sticking to the story of him being sent to figure out what she is. He just actually fell in love with her in the provess, and now she's more important then the job to him. I guess he figured that with him being a vampire and involved in different affairs, things like the kidnapping and all the other crap was just gonna keep coming up until he either got her killed, or turned her. And now, since Bill is on the king of mississippi's shitlist, him and Eric are probably planning to frame Bill for the V sales, and Bill knows he's fucked so he wants her to stay away from him. The way he always just tells her "There's no time, you have to go NOW!" etc, instead of just "A vampire king dude is on your tail, run bitch!" is kinda lame tho.. But I guess it goes with his good old "SOOKEH!!!" drama thing he's had going on since the start.
Oh and how is it out of charachter for Eric to kick someone's asses when they're stealing his shit? I mean, Lafayet works for Eric so if Lafayet's V gets stolen, that's Eric's loss aswell. Plus, it got him a chance to play badass aswell as protect the car he gave him. I think Eric is good to the people who don't fuck with him, unless they have something he wants of course. Didn't seem like he had any other reason to give Lafayet the car.
Re: 3x04
Yes, the Mary-Ann thing from season 2 was worse than anything we've got this season, but it also became bad in the second half of the season. The first few episodes of season 2 were actually pretty okay - I liked the Dallas-based stuff. The church crazies had at least the smokin' hot pastor's wife giving Jason a handjob in the tub ... So while I agree that Jason's storylines have always been retarded, at least they used to have hot naked women in them and now they don't have even that. The new chick isn't hot (or naked) and yes, we've all guessed that she is some kind of wood nymph or some other supernatural being, which is bad news for Jason. For me that storyline isn't promising, it's just predictable and stupid. Just like Jason trying to be a cop - give me a break.
Again, all you have said about Bill and his motivations boils down to the bog-standard "I'm sending you away to protect you," which has been done to death in every single medium. True Blood didn't use to be this predictable. The only thing keeping it remotely interesting is the vampire politics aspect and possibly Tara gaining control over that retard of a vampire, which would be a very interesting take on "female empowerment."
Lastly, I think we'll have to disagree on Eric's heroic rescue of Lafayette. Eric always seemed very uninterested in any goings-on around him and for him to intervene this directly - disclosing that Lafayette isn't just a normal V dealer who got it "against the will of a vampire," but actually works for or at least with the blessing (and protection) of a vampire - is a huge chance and very out of character. It can be explained only by the threat he got from the queen or by his infatuation with Lafayette. Judging by how easily he turned on the queen in favor of the king I doubt it's the former (plus it makes him look like a pussy) and there's just not enough evidence for the latter. I think it is the latter case, but it hasn't been shown very well so far ...
Anyway, it seems to me season 3 picked up where season 2 left off and that is a very bad sign. Unless the season picks up steam, and that right soon, I won't be watching season 4. (And yes, I am aware that we probably disagree and there's no way to convince either of us, so I'm glad you enjoy it ... That makes at least one of us )

It is fun when marco says it is so obvious and then is wrong on every account. Nice job!
