Topic: 21/12/10 - TV News Weekly Review - Another Christmas Special
What's so special? Just the title. First for the most important segment: renewed/cancelled shows. Renewed:
Sources: 1, 2, 3 Cancelled:
Sources: 1, 2 - Along with the cancelation of SG:U, SyFy said that the Stargate franchise, after 8 years, is now on stop. So no new Stargate for the time being. - Not cancellation news, but FOX decided not to give a back nine order for Lie To Me, which doesn't sound good. - The episode order for the new NBC comedy Love Bites was reduced to 9 episodes. (Source) - The same for the NBC procedural Chase, the order was cut from 22 to 18 episodes. (Source) - The Canadian show Durham County ended after it's third season, but the creator Laurie Finstad Knizhnik said, that there will be a movie. Your welcome, five people besides me who watched this. - You might have noticed that there are no new episodes of The Whole Truth. That's because ABC pulled the show from the schedule without any info when the remaining episodes will return. (Source) - The same thing for Running Wilde, that was leaved to burn off this month. (Source) - But at least some good news, The Middle received two more episodes this season. That makes it 24 for this season. (Source) Now for the casting segment: - Michael J. Fox will return to The Good Wife as Louis Canning. Also, Method Man will guest star in another episode. (Source 1, 2) - Eric Mabius will guest star in Chase. (Source) - A lot of casting for True Blood. Janina Gavankar joined the cast as a series regular, Jessica Tuck was promoted to series regular, Alexandra Breckenridge, Vedette Lim, Christina Moore, Neil Hopkins, Chris Butler and Dane DeHaan as recurring and Rebecca Wisocky will guest star. (Source 1, 2, 3) - Mariana Klaveno will guest star in the new Criminal Minds spinoff, CM: Suspect Behaviour. (Source) - Thomas Calabro will guest star in Castle. (Source) - Paula Marshall joined the cast of House. (Source) - Jeremy Irons will guest star in L&O: SVU. (Source) - Adrienne Barbeau will guest star in CSI: NY. (Source) - A little Buffy re-union. Alexis Denisof and Danny Strong will guest star in How I Met Your Mother, yet in separate episodes. (Source) - Gwyneth Paltrow will return to Glee. (Source) - Virginia Madsen joined the cast of The Event in a recurring role. (Source) - Reiko Aylesworth joined the cast of Hawaii Five-0, along with Dane Cook. (Source 1, 2) - Dawn Olivieri joined the cast of The Vampire Diaries. (Source) - Anthony Michael Hall will guest star in No Ordinary Family. (Source) And in other news: - The seventh season of The Closer will be it's last. (Source) - Dexter has a new showrunner, again. Now it will be Scott Buck. (Source) - There will be a remake of Being Erica. Really America, no new fresh ideas at all? - The Ricky Gervais Show and Funny or Die Presents will return January 14th. (Source) - The new FX drama Lights Out will premiere on January 11th and Archer will return on January 27th. (Source) - Greek will return on January 3rd. (Source) - The new Starz show, Camelot, will premiere on April 1st. (Source) For more schedules, please visit the 2010-2011 Midseason Schedule Topic. That would be it. Merry Fucking Christmas everybody.

I knew SGU would be cancelled from the front page. Deserves it and shouldn't have existed. Of course Dexter gets a new season.

Doesn't matter what Sheldon says... Fox is worse than Leonard Hofstadter!

No FOX should never be forgiven! We can hate SyFy too - i have since they changed their name, their recent cancellation of a franchise show didn't bother me as i stopped watching it after the first half of series 1

IMO SGU was getting good... Too bad.. Like the way about how the Universe was built by someone or something and a message was out there...

Re: 21/12/10 - TV News Weekly Review - Another Christmas Special
re sgu cancellation, from Joe M's blog yesterday: I’ve been holding off commenting on this whole SyFy cancellation thing because I was hoping to have more news to offer on the subject – but, alas, I possess no more insight now than I did two weeks to Christmas when I read about it on twitter (and later received confirmation from Deadline.com). So is this the end? Well, obviously, it doesn’t look good. But IS THIS the end? Well, the SyFy cancellation makes it very long odds that we’ll be producing a third season next year. BUT IS THIS THE END? Damn you’re persistent. The honest answer is: I don’t know. No, that’s not entirely true. The truth is I do know some – but only enough to say it doesn’t look good and it’s very log odds we’ll be producing a third season next year – yet still only enough to say I can’t say this is definitely the end. At least for now. Time will tell and I’ll keep you updated on any and all developments – especially if there does come a time when the Stargate franchise once again needs your support. cryptic and whatnot, and i'm not gonna take it as nothing more than wishful thinking... new network perhaps..?

Re: 21/12/10 - TV News Weekly Review - Another Christmas Special
and for the hat trick... more fom Joe M: Which brings me to a conversation I had with Stargate Creator/Showrunner/Executive Producer/Writer Brad Wright today. Alas, no details to offer (yet!) but suffice it to say he’s battling hard to ensure the franchise (that’s SG-1, Atlantis, and SGU) lives on and that the season two finale of Universe, “Gauntlet”, will not be the end. He’s adopted a clever two-pronged approach that, if successful, will see our awesome crew back at work next year. Nothing is guaranteed, but it’s great to hear he’s got a plan to make it happen.

oh not cool... not cool at all... but at the same time... i think that show has pushed it's boundaries as far as it could while still being entertaining, and it's been that, if nothing else...
