you dog. i was the one (alongside with z1rra and kaibren) to suggest you to read it.
Don't remember it. I know that in the summer I was in a bookstore with english literature and bought the first two books, but not due to specific recommendations, but because I wanted to improve my language. Also, if I can remember a rec from smn about the books, then it was from one of my friends from Livejournal. But nvm. As for the promo: http://www.hbo.com/video/video.html?vie … oplay=true http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7JYw5kQ … eature=sub But speaking of fantasy books, you ever tried The Witcher by Sapkowski?

Re: Preair Discussion
The Books are great, if a bit heavy with the very complex relations between the families and the whole political power game. i believe that reading the books are a very good idea, before seeing the series..

Heh, you know, I'm reading it in english and it's not about lazyness. The language used by Martin is really, really tough, probably even for a native speaker.

i bet. i'm not much of a fan of court drama and scheming, but damn Martin know's how to write it very compellingly and it's very hard to follow this even in Estonian i'm getting older and i'm having problems with remembering thousands of characters.

Re: Preair Discussion
Yeah, true. I wonder how much the book will be sliced so it will fit the 10 episode order. As for Martin's style, I just LOVE his dialogues. Funny and inteligent. And the only thing I have against the casting of this show is putting Lena Headey as Cersei Lannister. I hate the bitch. Cersei, I mean.

Re: Preair Discussion
ok i just watched that Inside of Game of Thrones and i have a bad feeling about it. they did not mention it, but i kinda feel it's gonna only be "based on a book" so we might see some pillage and plunder and few boobs here and there, but no rape, no incest, no true cruelty Martin wrote into his book. i think it's just gonna be some dark drama with a hint (scenery and strange world) of fantacy. kinda getting tired of this drama genre. (i know i'm a pervert, but i was kinda hoping that the character of Daenerys Targaryen will be played someone close to her age. but by the looks of it she is well over 18+)

Hey, even HBO can't show that. But incest? There should be no problem.

Re: Preair Discussion
I just watched it. And that's why the incest wasn't mentioned, it' a part of the plot. The characters look good and by the scenery I can say, that they will be true to the books.

Re: Preair Discussion
As for the actors being older than the characters in the books. I read somewhere That Martin him self wished he had written them as being older. And since he is helping making the series, I'd like to hope that he makes sure that the story stays, if not exactly as darks as in the books, the at least dark-ish. This series has so much potential, and i just hope they don't f*** it up..

Re: Preair Discussion
I started reading the first book after I saw the trailer for the series, but I too am not that intrigued by the book. Not yet anyway, but I'll keep on reading! I've gotten a little sidetracked though, after someone gave me Geomancer by Ian Irvine. A hell of a lot more exciting than Game of Thrones as of yet. A little off topic though. I'll try to finish the first book before the premiere, but I doubt I'll manage.
Not just the Spanish maine my love. The entire ocean. The entire world!
