Topic: 1x08

I love how they are now developing Nelson's character. And now we know that the end of 1x06 was indeed a regilious thing.

Another great ep.

I don't know.... I'm starting to loose my attention span with this show...
I think it has a lot of potential and some of the episodes were great but I don't feel like the show is going somewhere plot wise....

Re: 1x08

It's the typical overcomplicated HBO drama with too many primary characters, which makes the storyline hard to follow. I sometimes find myself looking it on IMDB and matching the faces to understand who is who for the under-developed characters.

Boardwalk is extremely linear and easy to follow.  The problem, is that there's no "hook", to keep me moderately interested from episode to episode.  Everything since the opener has been dry and empty; not progressing in any tangible direction, like pictures of a boring story.  What makes it worth my time?  I'd prefer a movie, or a really well done 10 part miniseries on the "Prohibition Era" with a definitive beginning middle and end, as opposed to this.

Will the Federal Prohibition officers catch Nucky and his associates and will Jimmy and Al manage to run alcohol and turn a profit.......blah, I'm bored just typing it, who cares, there's too much filler, little in terms of character development, and not enough advancement of the storyline.  I also can't relate well, or cheer for characters who're proud of negative virtues; where villains rule the good.

What are some the reasons you keep watching Boardwalk Empire from episode to episode?  What keeps you following this?  What do want to see happen?  Villainy rule?  That same damn production set of 1920's Lucky Strike and Coca-Cola billboards along the Boardwalk over and over?  The Prohibition officers catching the villains?  Those rare moments where we get to see a fight, some gunshots, or a theft?  Those bad sex scenes?  I'm trying to find something positive in this show, and there really isn't anything, nor anyone to cheer for or follow....and don't say Margaret, her character's boring.

Dear Martin Scorsese and Mark Wahlberg,

Nucky is an Alien.  Game changer.

fail - meaning i disagree with everything you just said

Boardwalk Empire is one of the best shows atm. with deeper characters than in most of the shit that comes out of the idiot-box. the story is just starting and is quite intriguing.
as a whole the show marvelously dystopic, dark and stylish - i just love it...

don't like it? don't watch it!

Re: 1x08

first of all, i wouldn't call Breaking Bad, Mad Men or even Walking Dead dystopic, dark or stylish - 'couse they just plainly are not...

Storyline's a bit obvious isn't it... in the first ep of Boardwalk Empire the prohibition starts - and every1 who's read a little history knows it will end in -33. During this time we have such individial as Al Capone who made 100 million dollars a year in between 1925 - 1930!!! so he made 500 million dollars in five years by selling booze. (don't even want to know how much that is in todays currency) And your telling me this is not interesting??? the prohibition was the start of organized crime afterall - and your saying a story about some advertisment designers is more compelling, oh please...

and for the characters. i stand behind my claim. they have more depth in them than most of the shit on tv. First Great War is just over and the whole world is in pieces, if that's not dystopia, nothing is.

and the finally the style - OPEN YOUR EYES you blind bastard... the dresses, the wardrobes, the cars, the furniture - everything looks brilliant. people walk and talk like they should. you can almost smell the shit stink through the screen...

PS. Mad Men is just shit!!! "Hey, let's make some adds!" <-- your calling that compelling, oh please...
