Re: What is 'The Event'? (Speculations)
I'm still having trouble fitting everything into the first few episodes of storyline. For instance, they're a race that can move large objects like planes with hundreds of passengers from one place to another, but somehow they crashed on earth and were unable to transport their wounded. They come in peace but they can't tell anyone what they want but they are being held for 66 years without a problem.
The writers are either incredibly good or we are going to get FlashCancelled after season 1.

Nice post - you can pad yourself on the back
/me pats himself on the back
I could have said "The Event Is... Rubbish", but I wanted to refrain from negative comments.

Those are indeed the questions which need to be answered. Right now we don't know if they are aliens or timetravellers or multiverse shifters or whatever. We just know they crashed/landed and some got wonded. Some got away and have incredible knowledge which lead to building the nukes in WW II (nice Manhatten Project goof) but on the other hand they couldn't free their POW. Those question were already asked on the show so I guess we get answers. And it's also refreshing that small storylines get resolved in a few eps. I thought it took atleast the first season for Sean to get his girl back. So the writers learned their lesson from Lost and FlashForward. Build up mysteries but answer most of them in a short time. Nicely done so far.
But the big mystery stays - what is "The Event"?

The writers are either incredibly good or ...
...they have no clue what the hell they are doing.

uhh BB. please. those others landed in 1944. By that time USA already had the nuke. and if i'm not mistaken ze germans tested something similar already in 1939.

I'm not arguing history, but this is what was mentioned in the series
Maybe it's just an american way to say: "Hey - we didn't invent the evil nukes - it's the aliens fault - don't blame us for Hiroshima and Nagasaki!"

and this pisses me off when amerikans think they can twist history like that.
