Topic: Sanctuary
Sanctuary
Can somebody please help me I downloaded some episodes of Sanctuary, i try to watch and on every episode video is in slow-motion like i got bad codec ,but on others tv series it's everything normal. Do I need some special codecs for this? When i searched torrents i notice that there is 2 version to d/l (HD & LD) I d/l HD version ,maybe I need LD?????????????

Re: Sanctuary
since you d/l-ed the hd version maybe you CPU isn't enough to process the bitrate. Try downloading another release or smth and see.

Small bug in our db-backend. The season/series finale 1x08 will premiere tomorrow 08/30 and not last Monday. Cheers!

maccool111 wrote:For those of you who have not come across this yet you are missing a little gem. I noticed when it premier's in October it's labelled as 201 so I went looking. It seems that season 1 consists of 8 (just under 20 minutes each) HQ webisodes. It stars Amanda Tapping (Stargate fame) in a very fetching long black wig. It's like a mixture of Van Helsing, Hellboy, Underworld and the X-Files all done to a green screen background similar to Sin City. Highly recommended.
Yep, excellent show. I've seen 6 webisodes so far and it's looking good. The only thing that bothered me was that they've imported a lot of actors from SG:A and no one from SG1 (except from Amanda of course).

Re: Sanctuary
i watched the first few episodes when they first came out... and yeah, wasn't overly impressed... i liked the concept [though i am a sucker for turn of the century Victorian English lit [League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen comics were an absolute dream come true for the lit fanboy in me, and for a damn good novel, check out The Anubis Gates] which this series just oozes] but the execution of the green screen thing left me feeling nauseas more than anything... so i'm kinda looking forward to the second season, and hope like hell they make it a new jumping on point...

Re: Sanctuary
I too didn't like it. Amanda looks very old in this series. I got bored after a few of them.

Re: Sanctuary
Well, one of the reasons is that she IS old... 43 years old to be exact. I have to admit I was surprised to see her play a role of an immortal woman.

Daemonius wrote:I was hoping that these new episodes would continue the story from where it was left at the Webisodes but... Guess what. It doesn't. Basically the series starts from the beginning with new scenes. I was so eager to know what happened after Webisode 8. Now I'll have to wait...damn. I've seen only 20 mins from the episode 01-02 but it seems as though the 20+ min webisode is streched to run the 40 mins of TV. Anywho, Amanda Tapping is a feast to eyes, even though her fake british accent hurts my ear. Some of the SG1/SGA cast members can be seen but the most pleasing is Christopher Heyerdahl (SGA Wraith Todd). And I believe that he has two characters in this show. The Ripper "John Druitt" is the more obvious, but the Beast "Big Foot" seems to be another, although it is not mentioned in iMDB. And now back to the show...
phew... i was kinda hoping for a reboot...

Re: Sanctuary
I'll check it out - the webisodes were an intersting concept. We'll see what the bigger audience does to this show.

Re: Sanctuary
I first watched the s01e01-02 and then downloaded the webisodes. It seamed like the tv ep was a summary of 2 or 3 webisodes with polished dialog and better animation... I forgive them for showning this ep twice, but sure do hope the first 1/2 of the season doesn't turn out to be more of the same. Anyways the second 1/2 of the season should be good (i think they will repeat the webisodes...the three witches is just to good of a story to throw away...)

Re: Sanctuary
- - Spoiler - - I found it kind of boring as well. I found it hard to follow what they were saying in some of the conversation because they didn’t really make it interesting. But they hade allot to say it seemed so maybe the show will get better now that we know what they wanted to tell us. Also I liked the show mutch better before the point we were introduced to the lady. I liked the concept of a couple of cops haunting monsters, kind of reminded me of Angel. But I guess that’s not the kind of story this is. Still you should check it out.

Re: Sanctuary
i liked it, but the webisodes were better in my opinion. I like what the added to the story, but i don't like what they removed. Next weeks episode will be a good one it was one of my favorites in the webisodes. I hope it stays on!

Re: Sanctuary
I've enjoyed the webisodes but I found the pilot to be boring. I'll probably tune in next week, but I doubt I'll keep watching it until the end.

Re: Sanctuary
Don't know about you guys but i liked this ep A LOT. The wiggley sign of cutting down the allowance was better in the webisodes but they managed to get a really interesting storyline going with the whole evil society thing. Also i found the music just fantastic. i'm really looking foreward to next week Oh...and they should give Amanda a pet black cat...a scene similar to inspector gadget evil boss would kick ass - just imagine her on an armchair in front of a fireplace with the cat in her lap

Re: Sanctuary
Do you find it annoying when you see greenscreen effects too clearly...

Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

Re: Sanctuary
yeah, i do...they could work on that a little...the parts where the actor points a light in the camera sucks and the intro got worse - now it looks like somone just made it out of multi layer cardboard cutouts. I guess i'm more after the story they want to tell then the on screen quaility of the show. To be completely honest the show isn't anything special...i like it, but it's no sg-1 season 1-6. i'll be suprised if it gets to season 3. The music however it this ep was almost firefly level. They really improved that. don't know how other see it, but to me it looks like the crew is learning a lot from ep to ep improving one thing at a time... ep 1 had MUCH better conversations then the webisodes ep 2 had awsome music...hope ep 3 has better effects then ep 4 could start a real story in stead of casual fights and chases.

Re: Sanctuary
Those crappy greenscreen things was acceptable in the webisodes, IMHO, but now even when The new guy came down some stairs with the Beast, and Amanda alone at another time... it was so poorly done, like the first version of Han Solo walking over Jabba's tail in the first draft of the special edition Star Wars Episode 4 The New Hope... Only reason I watch the show is Amanda... oh sweet Amanda...

Well, she WAS born in the UK... although I do have to admit, I thought it sounded fake too. As for Sanctuary: I have now started watching the pilot twice (!) - and still haven't finished it... why should I hang in there?
