Moze, sure its not your everyday series since its built on a book which again is built on historical events from a writer that up until then had written mostly thrillers. "To each his own" I believe its called
The backdrop is circa the timeperiod often referred to as "The Anarchy" 1100's something (in and around Henry I and King Stephen) and if you're not very interested in architecture and/or history I can see how this would be considered boring.
I however have an interest in architecture or more precise I'm very interested in how they were able to build these magnificent cathedrals not having electricity, no machines, no laser or any of the buildingtools we take for granted today. (I mean ...some of these cathedrals is HUUUGE). Since I'm also very interested in history and in particular English/Irish/Scottish history, I sure have high hopes for this series.
On Ridley Scott's Imdb page he's listed as "executive producer" on the series which also is "kinda" promising.
