[said=comingsoon.net]ABC has announced that as part of the "Jimmy Kimmel Live: Aloha to Lost" special, the network will show three alternate endings: Following the final episode of "Lost," Jimmy Kimmel will host a one-hour post-show discussion and celebration of the beloved series, SUNDAY, MAY 23 at 12:05 a.m., ET on ABC, following local news. Kimmel will be joined in studio by Naveen Andrews, Nestor Carbonell, Alan Dale, Jeremy Davies, Emilie de Ravin, Michael Emerson, Matthew Fox, Daniel Dae Kim, Terry O'Quinn and Harold Perrineau, with special appearances by Jorge Garcia, Josh Holloway and Evangeline Lilly and an exclusive look at THREE ALTERNATIVE FINAL SCENES from the minds of executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse. Jimmy Kimmel Live has been deluged by more studio audience ticket requests for this special than any show in its seven-plus year history. Daemons are benevolent or benign nature spirits, beings of the same nature as both mortals and gods, similar to ghosts, chthonic heroes, spirit guides, forces of nature or the gods themselves.

I dont want to see ALTERNATIVE endings, this just proves they've struggled like hell to even finish the show.

Re: 3 Alternate Endings to "Lost" to Air on Kimmel
No that's actually far from it. Wikipedia exerpts: In TV shows, producers may want to keep the ending of an episode a secret, even if it means keeping it from the stars themselves. In such a case, they will usually film more than one ending and not tell the cast which one will be used. Lost: At the end of Season 4, the audience learns that one of the main characters will die in the future. To keep the identity of this person a secret, three different versions of the final scene were shot. The canonical ending shows that Locke will die, while the alternate endings had Sawyer and Desmond die. 24: To keep the ending to Season 1 a surprise, the crew shot multiple endings to the finale (Teri's death was the one they aired). A second ending had Teri live through the gunshot, and a third had her not being shot at all, with the family embracing each other after the long day was over.

I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't accuse J.J. Abrams of starting a new show without having an idea for the entire series, not just for 1 or 2 seasons.

My impression is they always knew what was going on and how to end it, they just didn't know initially how long they had to tell the story so a few of the early to mid seasons were a little padded.

Re: 3 Alternate Endings to "Lost" to Air on Kimmel
Oh, didnt know producers did go such lenghts just to keep the ending a secret. I just remembered when i saw a commentary of Heroes the produsers said they changed the story just in time, from a pandemic to what it is now, and i remember i was thinking: wtf? dont they have a story to follow? Do they change important things like this on the go? Thats retarded! And futher proof of that is the fact that heroes sucks more and more.

Re: 3 Alternate Endings to "Lost" to Air on Kimmel
Well I think it's the same with any show that comes out... They have a template in mind of how the story will evolve, but there are always external factors and new ideas that cause this to change. I think with Lost they may have had a better idea of this "template" and actually stuck to it for the most part, but I mean, there have still been plenty of characters that just kinda dissapeared because the actor/actress didn't resign for more episodes... so things change... I'm totally game with some alternate finales. I don't think it's a sign of weakness or anything like that. I mean, with such a complex show, you're going to have different ideas and ways to end it, but ultimately they probably have known for a while how the real finale will play out.

Re: 3 Alternate Endings to "Lost" to Air on Kimmel
Here in England the producers of our major soaps always film more than one ending to the massive story lines. Not quite sure why though, I mean surely they know how they want a show to end, especially something as big and popular as Lost? Why bother with the other endings? Is it in case the actors spill the beans before it is screened? Years ago I remember reading an interview with the creators of Lost about how the idea came about, and that they knew exactly what was going to happen, start, middle and end. They said it would run for three seasons (ha!) Guess they just "lost" their way or maybe just milked it too much. I personally can't wait to it to finish now, I've grown so bored with it over the last three seasons.

Re: 3 Alternate Endings to "Lost" to Air on Kimmel
Another reason for different endings is the media leakage. There are hundreds of people involved for shooting the last scenes and it's done months before it aires on tv. If the definite ending would be leaked to the interwebs and media the ratings could drop in a land slide for the actual airing for the remaining episodes. Just answer the question - would you watch the super bowl if you would know for sure who would win? The finale is supposed to bring the best money for the advertisers - no room for risking the definite ending

Absolutely not - I HATE all sport! Anyway, I'd still watch it even if I knew the ending. I mean, if I didn't watch stuff that I knew the ending of, I wouldn't have such a vast DVD collection!

Re: 3 Alternate Endings to "Lost" to Air on Kimmel
they could have at least included some actualy alternate endings, instead of plugging the fact they had some and then delivering a few jokes.
