According to the hbo true blood official website, True Blood will be back in summer.

Why a whole one year break for a show so great I wonder... neutral

Um, doesn't 1 season = 1 year with all other shows?

Um, doesn't 1 season = 1 year with all other shows?

With most shows there is a 4 month break (July - Sptember)

Indeed - nothing special. It's the classic 12 episode 3 months show. Season 1 Sep-Nov, season 2 Jun-Sep, and season 3 will also start in the summer wink

Yeah, but after getting so much attention, I imagined it would become a regular season show. Does it have low ratings? I simply assumed it wouldn't be, considering how awesome the series is.

True Blood is on HBO - no normal studio rules apply. And mostly a show - like Dexter - which is designed for 12 eps stays at 12 eps.

Starting May 2, HBO will begin airing six weekly 'True Blood' minisodes (3-5 minute episodes). The minisodes, which will be written by creator Alan Ball, will air following the conclusion of the season 2 encore.
