Topic: Jericho Season 2 concerns

I was initially very happy to hear they have decided to give Jericho another go, I quite enjoyed the show.... however

From what I understand, the show gets like 6 (ish) episodes and depending on ratings , it might get extended to a full season.

My big worry is, How the hell do you write a decent story arc for a show that might have 6 episodes or might get continued for the full season? So what are they going to do? Write a flimsy mini finale at episode 6 and if it gets the green light continue it on? But if it doesn't, the flimsy mini finale stands as the end of the show?

Recipe for a crap season if you ask me.

That's the way it's always done.

Have a look at Lost. It's a major show but they couldn't decide how many seasons or episodes it would get so the second and third season were kind of weird. But now they decided to give that show 48 more episodes in 3 seasons. That's a perfect way to write a great soryline.

Let's hope that they won't mess up Jericho the same way.

erm... regarding Lost, i think you might find that from the outset the intention was to have seven seasons [eight if you count the zombie season]. minor details aside the show has been following the game plan that the producers envisioned from the beginning. the three seasons so far have each had a central focus, which if anything was cause for any alleged "kind of weird"ness. the first focusing on the survivors of the crash, the second on the hatch and it's ramifications, and the third focusing on 'the others'... the only proof you might find as to any lack of game plan is a public statement by Javier Grillo-Marchaux, who claimed that the producers had "no idea what they were doing with the show"... worth noting that he only made this statement after being unceremoniously released from the writing team... but hey... this is a thread about Jericho, not Lost... and I have to say I agree with proteinnerd and personally think they should write the six episodes and be done with it

You mean Javier Grillo- Marxuach, right? He quit after the 2nd season. And I believe things have changed now that they know for how long it will be going on, how many episodes, etc. I think they have a few aspects of the show completely finished, now they know where they'll end, and now they're just filling in the rest.

I really look forward to S4.

Re: Jericho Season 2 concerns

they can always make a series finale with a possibility of extension. There's tons of stuff to do. They can wrap up the main arc, and if the series is greenlighted, they can start a new theme like rebuilding the town, expanding it, protecting it etc.

The writing staff, as they've proved before, can be very creative and that is what I'm counting on in this case.

If not... the show still gets a decend wrap up (rememember that the alternative was a no-answer situation which is by far worse than any other scenario).

i've read Jan 8 in a few different places... though just how reliable this is is anybody's guess... and i'd kinda imagine given the current situation that the networks would be holding off setting any firm dates for ANY broadcast....

and yeah... cannae get enough of that skeet ulrich guy...
