Topic: 6x05 - Spoilers
Wow... Claire and Locke was nothing new but the tone that last scene had was pretty intense. I'm pondering how Jack's son is a part of this. Apparently, Jack will be the new Jacob or that seems to be the direction it was steering in. Who do we have in the temple and who is outside ? In temple: - Sayid (dark) - Dead-guy seeying person - Cool ninja guy + entourage (light?) Outside: - Kate (light?) - Sawyer (dark?) - Jack (light) - Hugo (light) - Jacob - somehow (bright white) - Jin (?) - Sun (?) - Claire (dark) - anti-Jacob (pitch black) - Ben (light?) - Richard (light?) I thought the lighthouse contraption was going to be the explanation of the numbers but we only got half-way that...

Re: 6x05 - Spoilers
I'm still confused about Jack - what is it that he doesn't remember his son or his apendix removal? Has he switced with the other Jack? Is is not a different timeline but a different universe? At least now the numbers make sense Degrees is a much more better explanation than to say "Jacob has a thing for numbers" And the dark growing thing inside Sayid and Claire is also freaky. Light and Dark are recruiting heavily for the final show down

jack switched? I don't think so... otherwise he would be wondering what the hell is he doing on some freaking island, and who are all those people around. It must have just started to itch and annoy him ;] And why do you think he does not remember his son?

Re: 6x05 - Spoilers
Kate is gonna be realy pissed when she finds out she went back for a nutjob, and then she's gonna be realy dead when Claire finds out she took Aron.Locke realy did a number on Claire. She's ready for action, training complete. Jacob mentioned that Locke was going to the temple,i'm guessing to "recruit" Sayid...the next episode is gonna be superawesome if they show that,it could be one of the best scenes ever in Lost:Locke,Sayid and Claire with the axe in her hand walking in slow-mo with the temple burning to the ground in the background Also now would be a good time to get Jack on the team as well,he's realy hating Jacob at this point as you probably guessed by now i'm rooting for Locke cuz Jacob is just the biggest asshole

Re: 6x05 - Spoilers
I was using the terms light and dark to differentiate the motives and undertone set by the writers. I don't know if it will be literally, but light and dark don't need to be good and bad.

nivalis wrote:i found one part of this episode very amusing though, when they get to the lighthouse and they say something like: "uh, how come we have never seen this before?" it's almost as if the writers are saying "ok bear with us now, we just made this up but pretend that it's already been there because the rest of the story needs it"
when i read this in your post, I just got that weird thought in my head, that the island is some kind of prototype for Dark City...

Re: 6x05 - Spoilers
I remember the first few seasons I saw a lot of philosophers' names used for characters: John Locke, Rousseau, Mikhail Bakunin, Jeremy Bentham (and a bunch more I never knew about on Lostpedia)... I guess they went from that to the bible now I wonder if they did that on purpose

People of faith see confirmation of their faith everywhere, even when it has nothing to do with it lol edit: spelling

paisley1 wrote:Everyone from every worldview, Proteinnerd! lol. For the record, LOST by no means confirms my faith (haha ), but simply plays on Christian motifs as it does Philosophical ones, which I've presumed to be misdirects of a larger mystery. Christian Motifs: Matthew Abaddon, Naomi Dorrit, and Sarah Shephard. Matthew (Fringe/Wire) simply watches and keeps account of events like the Apostle, while Naomi attempts to bring her people where they need to go like in the book of Ruth, and Sarah wasn't supposed to walk but miraculously does and gets pregnant, like Abrahams wife Sarai. It may be a misdirect, but it's an obvious comparison and parallel, like the name John Locke to the Philosopher.
I was actually referring to you thinking Godzionu's name was God Zion U (very christian) where it is actually a godzilla reference

Glad I wasn't the only one who had this thought. More than once I found myself thinking of Locke as "Walkin' Dude".

Well - this is true for every show/book/movie which has the bad/dark vs. good/light theme

in a way yes, but, for example, what about:
- The people who line up behind Mother Abagail refer to themselves as 'The good guys'. (Ben said the same thing about "the others") - Frannie Goldsmith is the pregnant one that survives... ala Claire. - Larry Underwood's background is very similar to that of Charlie Pace. Basically someone from fairly recent pop culture who had issues with drugs. - Mother Abagail is killed as was Jacob, depriving The Good Guys of a leader. (she is 108 years old) - There were 6 specific numbers that signified something important in the world of The Stand. These numbers are 6 13 90 2 37 16. The explanation of the numbers was also given. imho, it would have been more interesting if they had gone with the philosopher theme (locke, rousseau, bakunin etc) and made it into a (mysterious and slightly supernatural) allegory about society and the individuals in it rather than this pseudo-religious "chosen one" thing.
I loved the stand but really don't remember the numbers at all....
