I thought that was kinda obvious, then again it might be too obvious and they are trying to mislead us into thinking that.
Curse those craft writers
Re: S06E01E02
i still think Jacob and the other dude (who's name we still do not know ) and Richard are aliens.
Re: S06E01E02
I'm thinking that Jacob and the other guy is something like Good and Evil. Or God and the Devil..
I agree with that....but I'm trying to figure who richard is in that equation.
Btw the japanese guy from Last Samurai in this ep was bad ass

I've just watched those two episodes and I've got one question: what just happened?
Although it was awesome episode, I wonder where did Hugo got his lucky numbers from?

... the transmission is heard by others off the Island, eventually making their way to Hurley through a fellow patient in the asylum he was in ..

Yeah, I'm guessing 2 timelines myself... And the thing with "Jacob" and "Locke, the Dark Smoke"... it's gonna be VERY interesting this season...
Aliens masquerading as gods or are they actual gods ... a time travel paradox ... I'm loving this!
I'm guessing the black smoke/faux Locke is the ancient storm god Set since the statue on the island is supposed to be Egyptian goddess Taweret who held Set back on a chain.

The SF fan in me favours aliens but I loved mythology as a kid so I'm happy either way. I won't be suprised if there is a the cult of Taweret that arranged the Black Rock ship's mission to the island and is among those gun toting survivors of the 2nd plane crash. Those survivors being still in play on the island (& perhaps the hatch) is a paradox. Are there alternate versions of themselves who never boarded a 2nd plane that would crash?
Will wheelchair Locke show up on the island with lucky Hurley?
Re: S06E01E02
There's a load of stuff from last season about Jacob and who he might be. All conjecture of course!
I think we finally agreed that we thought Jacob and the OGD (other godly dude) were gods, but I do like godzionus theory too.

Re: S06E01E02
the thing about mythology is that it could be very well derived from the encounters of alien spieces

Well yes, transmission was heard, but in the time line where they crashed on island. In the new one, the island seems to be sunk. Since that fellow patient heard those numbers 16 years before crash, that would be around 1988. The incident or explosion that sunk the island in new time line happened in seventies... So my question again, how did Hurley won on the lottery if the numbers haven't got the chance to make into Simms ears and he probably never got crazy because of them? he isn't that lucky, is he?

on the aliens masquerading as gods issue: isn`t it the same thing as being gods? what`s the diffenrence? if they can manipulate there sorroundings better then we can dosen`t that basicaly make them gods?....soryy recently watched The 4th kind>:)
Re: S06E01E02
I haven't see aliens really proposed before, its not that I don't like sci fi with aliens, I just think it will be a bit of a cop out for lost, they don't seem to belong. I much prefer the idea that Jacob and the other guy are old Egyptian gods. For some bizarre reason that seems a bit more "realistic" to me.
And yes I realise that by saying that Egyptian Gods running around manipulating time etc is more realistic than aliens makes me sound like a crazy person.

Actually no - that would make sense But I don't like that idea either. Egyptian gods were already used quite often and to the extreme in Stargate. I would rather like a supernatural approach. What people/The Others think of that and why there are statues and tempel is another thing.
Re: S06E01E02
Maybe the island is a reallllllly old version of SGAs Atlantis...?
a beta version?

Add it to the list of time travel paradoxes ...
I'll have to hide behind the “The Many Worlds Interpretation” (MWI) in response to your argument since I'm not sure in which 'when' or 'where' the 2nd plane crash survivors with faux Locke are walking around in ... I assumed that was the present despite the under water island clip. I guess I'll have to watch the episode again.
Re: S06E01E02
"Godly Locke" and Jack and Co. obviously are on the Island in the same time.... And the landed plane I'd say is 2007...
Although: I do wonder where Jack's Dad is in the "Plane did not Crash" timeline...
