well at the moment i think it fits perfectly into the bsg-universe ... the machine(s) are from the beginning humans and believe something else than the mayority of mankind... but i still hope they make an spinoff and show us the first cylon war

How many Cylon wars there were? Or how long the one that was lasted? That's becouse if they'll follow the "1 year 1 season" rule, and considering that Will had about 19-20 years at the time of end of the war (still as a Viper pilot he had to be trained, schooled, and got to some kind of officer, so I'd give him even 23?). I Can't remember, but how long after Cylon wars they've returned with "The Plan"?

/sign if they make a one year break, like they did between season 2 and 3 of bsg then it could be possible .... but does 6 years only sound to me a bit short? i mean 6 years befor the first cylon war the first prototyp is build and they having problems to build a 2nd... lets say it will take about a year to finish the centurions that much that they can go to massproduction... so the humans have 5 years left to build a large enough cylonforce to, at least, fight the capricandefenceforces and the cylons should start building/inventing basestars and raiders... i am really curious how RDM will make things work this time, but i belief he will

I think that Cylons will start build themselves few years before the war. And that would require to produce personalities for robot bodies on a larger scale.

You all forget that when the moment comes that a machine gains conciousness it evolves at speed of light  And the conciousness is actually right there, just the copying is taking some time. But that's solved in saeson one I guess.

I always thought that evolving-in-speed-of-light consciousness was supposed to be developed on the machines, not transferred from humans

Well - the robots were not meant to be with a great thinking mind - that would not be practical. But they were designed by the other Cylons
And there were some scenes on a basestar were the robots kinda thought about an action or were convinced by the humanoid Cylons to do something else.
