Who guessed that it would be the Master befor he actualy revealed his name?
I guessed it way back in Gridlock, when The Face of Boe told the Doctor he was not alone. I guessed that was how he would do it by the end of Family of Blood. So I knew going into every episode after that, it could be anyone. When the old man was introduced as The Professor, the hair on the back of my neck when up, as that is the name the Doctor went by in the earliest episodes of Doctor Who (1963). I knew it was the Master for sure once I saw the watch. This season has been pretty good at dropping lots of little sublime clues - much better than last season's overuse of the word, Torchwood. And even better than Bad Wolf, which I still think was awful neat.
I have been waiting for this moment since the series began back in 2005 and they stated that the Doctor was the last of the Timelords. And then they got two of my favorite actors to play the part. First was Derek Jacobi (Underworld Evolution) as Professor Yana. Who also played the voice of the Master in Doctor Who: Scream of the Shalka one of the BBCi, animated Doctor Who mini-series from back in 2003 (an episode that remarkably saw David Tennent playing the voice of the Caretaker). Secondly, is John Simm (Life on Mars) as the new Master himself. I think I started drooling when the light faded from his regeneration and John Simm was standing there. Here is a fantastic actor who's own program, Life on Mars, kicks arse and who at one point was being considered for the part of Doctor Who. Now here he is for what is shaping up to be a magnificent Doctor vs Dark Doctor, I mean, Master face off.
The next two episodes are going to be, dare I say it . . . legendary.
