Topic: 8th episode
Damn it was cool. Btw I think the show is WAAAAAAAAAAAY better than Lost. Lost was good, but now .... Even Invasion is better than Lost ... The fact that I don't know when is the next episode of lost, but I starve for the next one of surface, speaks for itself Not that I won't watch the next Lost, I will, but ...

Wow. I think Surface and Invasion are just studio shows trying to cash in on the the 'sci-fi mystery with interpersonal relationships' thing Lost revolutionized last fall. They're not even in the same league as Lost, in my opinion.

Re: 8th episode
Lost was a pioneer, indeed, but you know, the teacher becomes the student .... It was a pretty good show, before they 'lost' themselves in the hype, and each episode became slower than the previous one .... It's still OK, but nothing like it should be ..

Nah, I disagree, but I see your point of view. My thing is, the show isn't about the mystery, it's about MYSTERY. Every little step along the way leads you to think one thing, and then surprises you with something else. Of course, I work with one of the executive producers/writers of Lost, so I'm a little biased towards it, but I just don't see Surface or Invasion as having any...substance. I think Invasion's better than Surface, tho, for the record.

Re: 8th episode
I am convinced, that the writers are making the story as they tell it, so that takes a bit from the experience .... But then again - I might be wrong. It's just that I don't believe the writers themselves have a general plan for what it's going to happen. Also the fact, that they are so slow in revealing the story is pretty annoying. The character development (flashbacks) is cool, I admit, but it sometimes bores me to death. There should be more action, and story development. The thing that keeps me watching it for now is not the mistery at all, but the way they put hidden things in the episodes. Stuff that you only see if you're watching close enough and paying attention. And again, I'm not saying it's a bad show. On the contrary. But it's not enough anymore Anywho, you're working with 'em? You do something for the show, or work with a guy from the crew on a different project?

I suppose it's a matter of taste, but to me, the flashbacks are considerably more interesting than the mystery of the island, which I know will only pay off in doses. Of course, the writers have a map for where the show is going, but the allow for new ideas to be created as the show goes along. Interestingly, the problem you're having with LOST is the same problem I have with Surface, Invasion, and Threshold. I believe in the writers of Lost. I have no faith in these other shows or where they're going. There's a thing that Joss Whedon said...something to the effect of, "I don't want to make movies people LIKE. I only want to make movies people LOVE." That's the difference in my mind between Lost and these other shows. Lost is epic, challenging, fun, and scary all at the same time. It has faith in the audience to invest themselves and try to understand what's happening. The other shows are good for background entertainment, since you know that hardly anything's going to happen per episode. Veronica Mars is another example of a show that demands attention and has faith in the audience, and pays off. santah wrote:Anywho, you're working with 'em? No, I'm not related to the show myself, and it's not someone from the crew, but one of the executive producers, who also writes for the show. You'll see his name in the credits at the begining. It's Javier Grillo-Marxuach. And no, he doesn't tell me any Lost secrets, and I don't ask. We're working on a couple of comic book projects. I'll watch this week's Invasion and let you know what I think. I haven't watched since the second episode.

I wasn't going to ask about lost's secrets. There's no point to ruining it, lol I was just curious what was your relation with them. You have my respect for Veronica Mars - one of the best shows out there. Maybe second to Scrubs (nothing is better than scrubs for me). Now that I think of it, in no particular order, the best shows on tv right now are: Scrubs, Veronika Mars, SG-1 (just because I'm a fan, even though the best part of it (Jack) isn't there anymore), Family Guy, Surface, Lost, Invasion, 24, House, SouthPark, The 4400, The daily show. Maybe I forgot one or two. Just felt like listing them

Re: 8th episode
I'd watch Scrubs if they'd drop the 'moral of the story' kind of endings.
