Bitstream 48mbit/s, DTS HD Master and Dolby Tru HD sound ftw Cant wait for Transformers 3 and hope for a G.I Joe 2. The Sound effects in Transformers 1 and 2 are sound reference to me.
but that still doesn't save a shitty script though does it..? [for the record... i kinda liked GIJoe, didn't totally hate TF2 or ST... but none of them were really essential viewing...]

imo Hollywood does not know anymore how to make essential viewing movies.

and this is a bit of a pretentious statement really, when you look at it... i always refer back to a comment by, i think it was David Goyer or Lemm Dobbs on the Dark City dvd, that essentially screen size doesn't matter, if the story is good it will draw you in enough to overlook that drawback... sure it does look better on a big screen, but... blah, blah, blah... godzionu wrote:imo Hollywood does not know anymore how to make essential viewing movies.
true... "The Box" aside, i cannae remember the last time a "Hollywood" film left me with a slack jaw, enlightened, or even being really truly entertained...

"Iron Man"... it's okay, but I could've lived without it... The Fight-Scenes really, really reminded me of "Transformers"...

true... clearly i needed reminding.. 2002 was a long time ago, eh... Kaufman is one of those writers that's on my "i don't care about subject matter, get me watching this NOW" list... and that's not easily done...

I've seen "Stander" yesterday. Didn't know what to expect, but that was fine piece filming and acting and I watched without rewind

Then REC should do it. Yes, I watched it. Not that I wanted to, but when a woman want's something, she gets it.

i'm sensing there's a story behind this?
Not really. She likes horror's, I don't, she wanted me to watch REC, I didn't want to, and then I watched it.

Re: Some movies I have recently watched
I didn't mention that both movies come in two versions: REC - Original Spanish version is super cool and a sequel came out recently (haven't seen it yet). American version is called Quarantine and it's equally good but it copies almost all the scenes from the original (I've noticed only one new scene). Also, the main character (Debra from Dexter) isn't as good as the actress from the Spanish version. Shutter - ONLY original Asian version is watchable. American remake is a crap. And I forgot to recommend Eye. It also has a lot of scary moments and only the original version is good, even though Jessica Alba played the main role in the remake.

Re: Some movies I have recently watched
Well, not all American remakes are awful, but of course none of them are better than the originals. Naturally the best thing to do is to see original versions of these movies, but Quarantine can be a good replacement if you can't find REC anywhere.

yes, it's the same for me. he's a genious. the only other writer i feel the same about is wes anderson i guess. and in a way roy andersson (a swedish writer/director)
yeah, Wes Anderson is also on that list... i just read this week The Umbrella Academy: Dallas by Gerard Way who was totally channelling Anderson... much goodness...

Re: Some movies I have recently watched
Wes Anderson also popped up on the KCRW Treatment podcast to talk about FMF this past week which was highly entertaining.... last night i watched the Lionshare/Legacy VODO flick, which was pretty darn good in a subtle kinda way... Legacy could have been 54 minutes longer, but otherwise it was an hour well spent...

Re: Some movies I have recently watched
So i went to see Avatar. i'm really sad that at my town they did not show it in 3D. but man. whoa. this movie was awesome. simply whoa. let me start with a complaint. well nowadays hollywood does not have any more new ideas of creating a story. everything was kinda predictable and usual. boy meets girl, boy falls in love with the girl, boy has to prove himself to be worthy of her love. but everything else was just simply whoa. i did not even notice that this movie was sooo long. 2 hours and 45 minutes something. the world, the colours. simply astonishing. James Cameron still has a touch to make huge movies. i trully recomend it to everyone.

Re: Some movies I have recently watched
yeah, i went and saw it in 3d [at the IMAX across the road...] and while, yeah, it looked great, it was way too long, uninspired story wise and a bit of a drag.... looked great though... i don't quite want my 2 1/2 hours back.... mebee just 1 1/3...

my eyes didn't so much find it tiring [and i went at 11.30 at night, after staring at a computer screen at work all day]... the story was just really fucking boring... it could have been half the length at the end of the day... [disappointed also as i was given 2 double sided, mirrored posters... so i stuck one in the positive on one side of the door, and the mirrored side on the other side of the door, so that when you open the door it looks like the poster is painted on a piece of glass, but you know there is a thick door there... and ever fibre of my being does not want to look at it on a daily basis, but the illusion is too cool of a mindfuck to take down... what to do...]
