Re: Season 1 - first half
The reason the show has slowed down lately is because they went away from the sci-fi / mystery part and concentrated more on the character reactions to what happened. I think they will bounce back in a reasonable amount of time and it's going to be great again. Having said that, I am not a fan of the bad guys being "accidentally" this close to the main hero. It's bad when it is on purpose (24-style), because it is used up, and chance encounters like this are just bad bad writing. nivalis wrote:so they point out that hawking isn't trolling.
That must be the single greatest quote on these forums yet! I had to laugh so hard ... And speaking of great quotes the dialog: Commodore Norrington: "You're her." FBI Hero Guy: "Not yet." is probably one of the best exchanges I've seen this season, maybe ever. Mxyzptlk wrote:The thing is that we have seen evidence on that peoples flashes will come true because they had the flashes in the first place. We also know that the flash had happened in the flashes(!) so everything that is happening happens because of the flashes, and it had already happened in the perspective of the future people in the flashes.
That is pretty much the heart of it. The reason why I like the show is because it plays with the idea of causality. First there is of course the whole idea that the FBI investigation is based on the board the guy saw in the future, which presumably was created in the same way. They are basically investigating in a (time) circle and have to reach the same point in time and knowledge, because their starting point is the same. The other part of causality isn't really whether they cannot change the future because it is pre-determined, but rather what if any choice they make is the choice the brings about the future? Meaning you lock yourself up in a panic room the day of the flashforward only to realize that you locking yourself up there was what brought you to the situation in the flashforward. That is infinitely interesting to think about. I fully expect there to be a twist to the effect of the future comes true because of what they saw in the flashforward and the investigation is just repeating what happened (at least) once before. Now that brings up the ultimate problem of any time traveling story and that is "When (and how) did it happen the first time around, without the flashforward?" Mxyzptlk wrote:What do everyone else think? Is she dead, alive or is it to unclear to know?
Of course she's alive. It's a cover up and there's nothing easier than to change the DNA results. The military simply swapped her DNA in their records for the DNA of whoever's charred body they delivered to her parents. So obviously any independent DNA test with those two DNAs will produce the same positive results. I am just waiting until the father has the body's DNA tested against his and his ex-wives and that's when he'll discover it is not his daughter. D'uh. Pretty typical, albeit high-quality cover-up 101.

I'm not sure that it ever have had to not happen in this way. They did an experiment that made everyone see the future that this flash brought on.. And I feel that this investigation will be an exact repeat of what has happened before (or hasn't happened yet).. what interests me is what happens after that mars day, what was it? 10th? Anyway, I can't understand how they possibly could explain it, if anything changes.. marco1475 wrote:Mxyzptlk wrote:What do everyone else think? Is she dead, alive or is it to unclear to know?

YaY, Leoben/Lew Ashby! A little better, I liked that they showed the issue of what would people do if they knew they gonna die.

Diminishing viewer numbers. Will we even get to the flash date let alone a satisfactory conclusion.

Re: Season 1 - first half
well.... I guess a lot of Americans don't get this show... else they'd watch it... I loved this week's Episode, especially the mind-fuck part on the female soldier's father... I mean... for him that must've felt like the worst roller-coaster ride ever with a somewhat happy ending?! And how about the Jumper... will that change the future? or that one special life of that one person? this is going to be very interesting...

More people jumping? I can see it clearly, the whole cast of the show standing hand-in-hand on the roof and one ... two ... and they all jump ... fade to black, thanks for watching

Re: Season 1 - first half
Just watched this episode... I guess that they had to make the flashes changeable to keep the show exciting, but it makes no sense... If he jumped, why didn't he do that the last time around? He had the same information than, nothing's changed and yet he did... It's not possible!

when?
Let me rephrase: Why didn't the him in the flash jump at the same time as this him did? They both had the exact same conditions...

Well, we don't know that. We know that their alter egos from the flash forward did have a flash forward, because they were obviously investigating it, but we don't know that they had the same flash forward as our present guys. It would be a very neat trick if their "previous" selves saw completely different futures and the "new" futures our guys saw in their flash forward were the results of the changed actions their "previous" selves did because of their flash forwards ... (I hope I am making sense here, if not, I guess I can elaborate on this some more. "machine. Unexpectedly, I invented a time" - Alan Moore)

That's an interesting thought... they always have a flash, but it evolves for every time. Makes me think of the show Daybreak... seen it?
