Topic: Old Discussion Topic
The truth is out there, and it's in South Dakota. The Sci Fi Channel has greenlit a two-hour pilot for the original series "Warehouse 13," which is described as "part 'X-Files,' part 'Raiders of the Lost Ark,' and part 'Moonlighting,'" it was announced Thursday, Oct. 25. The show, based on a script by Rockne O'Bannon, Jane Espenson and D.Brent Mote, will be a one-hour dramedy produced by Universal Media Studios. "Warehouse" centers on two FBI agents who are shunted off to South Dakota to monitor the secret Warehouse 13, where the U.S. government has deposited all of the strange artifacts, relics and supernatural objects it's stumbled across over the centuries. It's the agents' duty to not only keep on eye on the stuff, but also to track down anything that has gone missing, aided by the fact that usually something paranormal or supernatural occurs to indicate that an AWOL object has got amok. The "Moonlighting" portion of the plot implies that the agents have some sort of chemistry between them. "Like our successful series 'Eureka,' 'Warehouse 13' is a fun, intriguing concept that should continue to broaden our audience through present-day, relatable stories with an imaginative twist," said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President, Original Programming at the network. "Rockne has delivered a wonderful script and we can't wait to get this into production." Production is scheduled to begin in December, shooting for a summer 2008 premiere.

Re: Old Discussion Topic
I like Jane Espenson's writing - she was one of my favs on Buffy - so I'm hoping this turns out to be good, but does anyone else think this just sounds like bits of half a dozen or so other shows canabalized and sewn back together? Hell, they even admit it in the description. Unless the writing on this thing is fucking awesome, I'm not sure I'm going to be all that interested in seeing a show I've already seen time and time again. Are there no even vaguely original concepts left in television?

No all the original ideas ran out a few years ago, look at all the cover versions of songs in the charts released by the latest pop or rap group (too many to mention) , all the 80's TV series turned into movies (Charlies Angels, Transformers etc, remakes of TV series from old TV series (Bionic Woman) The human race has simply run out of ideas

And it was so - so, nothing spectacular, so far. But, hey, maybe it can be a summer filler. We'll see. I'll watch at least the next episode [1.02 “Resonance”] as Tricia Helfer guest stars

The first pilot run finished about 80 minutes ago, and it is re-airing again on SyFy now.. so it should be up soon...

Air time with commercials was 124 minutes, without the commercials it should be approx 90 minutes..

I liked the pilot. It's a bit weird that all artifacts are stored in this obscure warehouse, because non of them are actual from the US. But well - bring culture to the US - even if it's this way I also like the chemistry of the two main characters, this will get interesting as Moonlighting or X-Files. A keeper - for now

...yes but do you really think the acting is at the same caliber as those you refer to? With those I tend to the think the acting is far superior than to that of this show,

Re: Old Discussion Topic
True - but it's a pilot with relative new actors, which has alot potential. I give it some more eps - if they haven't build up a chemistry and good acting by then the show will get canceled anyway

the Tesla gun was a nice touch, but not enough... and personally i could have done without the edison refrence... i seriously don't see it in his being to create something that was good for the environment.... though i totally lolled at the ford capitalist pig comment....

I guess I could be too hard on it, but didn't you think it tended to drag alot? Some of the ideas in the show are good..but the two main actors are horrible (at least at this point)
