Topic: Christmas special 2009
I heard that Bernard Cribbins, who plays Donna's grandpa, is going to be the companion in the christmas special... can anyone confirm this? It would be nice if it's true.. I like that old man

Yeah it is true. I like him, but I think he'd be quite annoying as a companion...
I also wish they'd stop being back companions! Well I really wish they'd stop being back Martha, as there's talk of it for Tennants final episode. They haven't announced the next companion, for The Waters of Mars yet though...

Perhaps there will be no companion for that episode... what would that be like? The Doctor alone.. no one to impress with his talents...

I suppose it'd be like The Next Doctor, it's all the same I think with no companion, they spend a bit of time trying to make a relationship then they start the adventure.
I think it would be better as you say, for him to have no companion, and just have these people he's trying to save being impressed instead. Then the adventure could start right away!
