Caprica suddenly becoming knocked up by the love that she shares with a bald 60 year old with no viagra in sight = bad. Let's put another one in there, for good measure: The hybrid waking up and shouting JUMP = Cool. Dude, it's called ADDED DEPTH. I wont get into a flame as it is a matter of taste now, and everyone has his own, but still dont go slapping the show like crazy. BSG was ultimately always a show about future-people and nowadays-problems. live with it or stop watching. For example I always wanted to know how would a jesus of our times look like and the baltar type is certainly food for thought. Next, you rant about adama leaving galactica. Have you watched no country for old men? Its like the bsg version... and I frakin love it. In the end it boils down to the matter of taste, you hate it (or despise it in a way) and I love it. That doesnt make my or your opinion better or worse. Its just taste. just my few cents. btw i hate you for the jericho post

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
I haven't read every single post in this thread, but i get what the original poster tried to say, and yes i agree.. BSG (or Lost, Heroes etc) are shows that start of well but then get all mixed up in PC and other crap. Shows like Studio 60, Smith get cancelled but pseudo-try-to-be-intelligent crap like this gets the air time.. It truly baffles me. But like the poster above me said, each it's own. It's just a shame that there's nothing good left to watch anymore.

Oh come on, Mlin, taste is such a fucking cop out. I like vanilla ice cream, you like blueberry - that's taste. We both like a show enough that we both watch it, now you can't call on taste. We just have different opinions about the actual content of the show. Future-people and nowadays-problems - yes, I agree. That's what I loved about it. It's the realism that got me hooked on the show. It's gone now. It started going around the time people started blowing up into Cylons on New Caprica, which was showing us that SEE TERRORISTS ARE JUST LIKE US. That's not added depth. It might be for Joe Buck from the mid-west, it's not for me. I like to think I'm a bit more intelligent than that. And I just wanted to comment on the modern Jesus bit. Do you know what his biggest problem would be? Facing the cynicism of bastards like me. And we get none of that in BSG. There are two types of people in that universe - those that blindly follow Balthar and those that blindly follow Roslin and the old gods. There isn't a fucking sane person left on that whole fleet. ps: Comparing a Coen brothers movie to a shitty sci-fi tv show is a cardinal sin. If there was a god, you would be striken down

I can agree to an extent. The realism is not gone, it's kind of overshadowed by the fact that the show has to end, mainly thanks to retards who prefer to watch american idol, lost or anything else on taht level. In light of this, they have to wrap things up quick and this is what you get when it happens. Remember they have (had) a story to tell and if I recall correctly the show was intended to be alittle bit longer than 4 seasons. Still, even now, I dont hesitate to call it the best scfi tv show on air. No other tv show can combine elements of ludlum/clancy+a pinch of asimov the way that bsg does. Period And one more thing. I can live with you bashing the show for events in season 4+end of three, but don't you think that it's kind of unjust to jugde, kind of, the whole series? Remember what got you hooked? Mind you how "fun" was the second season of lost. Is that fair? I mean.. come on.. And I just wanted to comment on the modern Jesus bit. Do you know what his biggest problem would be? I disagree. IMO the old adama is the cynic bastard you'd be Yes, he's close with Roslin but still, I don't picture him as a big fan of the gods. Despite that, I know what you mean and kind of miss more of that too. ps: Comparing a Coen brothers movie to a shitty sci-fi tv show is a cardinal sin. If there was a god, you would be striken down
If I had compared it with f.e. Atlantis... But BSG is quite an artwork in my book and I like to keep things that I have in high regard up close and personal towards each other

When you laugh at scenes that aren't supposed to be funny, you know there's something wrong with the show you're watching. Adama in the Raptor reading the book was one of those ... And it ain't like those scenes are about to go away. No hate, just sayin ..

Guys, seriously.. I dont get you I loved that particular scene.. It massively reminded me of Homeworld 2, the whole mood of the game etc. There's something about loneliness in space that I just digg.

You were talking about semantics? Overshadowed or gone, who cares? It's not what it used to be, so you can't really use it as a point to prove that BSG is something that it is not. If they hurried the show it's because the ratings are dropping, ratings weren't dropping before they started introducing the mystical bs halfway through season 3. See the connection? Lost, American Idol, Trump's Apprentice or whateverthefuck has nothing to do with hurrying the show. Best sci-fi show on air? Probably, but I don't settle. Could it be much better? Yes. And that's what pisses me off. Atlantis is what it is and you don't see me whining about it, do you? It's because I don't care. Also I used to like Lost. Than they explained, or rather didn't, what was going on and put stuff into perspective. That made me not like the show and dislike the episodes I did like in lost. It's all about perspective man. When shit that happened early and you totally dug, that you thought had one explanation, has a completely different explanation that is ridiculous you stop digging it (invisible six, anyone?). And there you go again throwing a fucking classical author with a bunch of modern sell outs. Come on man. Don't do that. Asimov is Asimov. And BSG has very, very little to do with him. And what the show has to do with him, is due to the fact that the Man, along with a couple of others from his era, changed the way Sci-Fi is written. I disagree. IMO the old adama is the cynic bastard you'd be Yes, he's close with Roslin but still, I don't picture him as a big fan of the gods. No he is not. If he was he wouldn't act like a 16 year old in love. Fuck that noise, they completely destroyed the character for me. And again - perspective, now I can't like him in the events leading up to this moment, because I know that he wasn't the collected, calm, calculating Admiral, but a wreck waiting to fall in love with the first thing that has cancer in sight and completely break down. If I had compared it with f.e. Atlantis... But BSG is quite an artwork in my book and I like to keep things that I have in high regard up close and personal towards each other

The thing is that you can't do it too. I glorify wheres you demonize If they hurried the show it's because the ratings are dropping, ratings weren't dropping before they started introducing the mystical bs halfway through season 3. See the connection? Lost, American Idol, Trump's Apprentice or whateverthefuck has nothing to do with hurrying the show.
Ultimately it does. Let me say how I see it. I think it's safe to assume that we both agree that bsg is quite an inteligent show (with and without "the voodoo crap"). The typical wiever in the states does not want to dive in a show but rather only get his feet wet. I derive this way of thinkin by looking at the number of CSI spinoffs, Idol variations and all those "a shot at fucking tila tequila" reality shows. They want to get everything on a silver platter, no thinking involved. BSG is all about thinking, that's why the ratings went down and they were given season 4 to wrap things up. In the end, its the simple and undemanding show that kills the one involving serious pondering. Thats my point of wiev. Best sci-fi show on air? Probably, but I don't settle. Could it be much better? Yes. And that's what pisses me off. Atlantis is what it is and you don't see me whining about it, do you? It's because I don't care.
Still that does not lead anywhere. There's a Polish proverb that fits here quite nice - "Jak sie nie ma co sie lubi to sie lubi co sie ma" - " If you dont have what you like - just like what you have". I understand stating what bothers you buy why "fight" about it. And there you go again throwing a fucking classical author with a bunch of modern sell outs. Come on man. Don't do that. Asimov is Asimov. And BSG has very, very little to do with him. And what the show has to do with him, is due to the fact that the Man, along with a couple of others from his era, changed the way Sci-Fi is written.
heheh . That's why I said "a pinch" . For some reason bsg reminds me the author..
And what's the moral ? Everyone has his own Adama . Mine was always a father and somebody to hold on to.. all that under the impression of being collected, calm.... I like his soft side, but on the other hand I'm blueberry and you're vanilla I could totally flame you, but I won't mate. Cause I like you

Re: Seriously (18+ post!)
Hello everybody. I think you are missing the central point of view of BSG here. It is not about fierce battles, fancy high-tech staff, or heroes and stories whatsoever. It is about people; people who is just like you and me; flawed. I believe the focus of the show is on the human element that will hunt us throughout our existance. We actually are like how the people of BSG is depicted; scattered, not focusing, persuing all kinds of crap, missing the point in almost everything, and self-destructing. Therefore, I do not think show will ever get in to the shape as arashi wishes, and I hope not, since that is what makes BSG what it is. Whatever we do, regardless of advance and dependancy, we are entitled to mess up everything that comes close. That is, in my opinion, is the driving force of the show's characters and all its plots. On the other hand, the "voodoo stuff" may very well not be what it seems to be . As of now, it is revealed that the final five cylons are of earthly origin; they have been and came from there. At that point, one might wonder the "true" nature of cylons and human race; are they so different, or is there some sort of connection between them? What we know for certain is that the people of the twelve colonies are not the "original" human brand. (: Who are the Lords of Cobol and all the gods mentioned? Are they really the mythical divine beings or some ancient and almost forgotten remnants of a distant relative-maybe ancestor- who are shrouded in myths and epic tellings performing some kind of a grand plan serving their intentions? I am thinking that because it seems as if someone is guiding all of them, whether cylon or not, through similar means; like the message of the oracle in New Caprica, Baltar's and Caprica Six'es "ghosts", the whole event of Opera House, Hera, four thausand years old Temple and so on... Hybrids, who are "connected to God" as one cylon stated, seem to know some stuff, but they are a little bit shy to come forward and speak. (: wow I talked a lot for a first post. One last comment; Starbuck is the reference for the definition of the word "bitch". (:
Chemists don't die; we only reach equilibrium.

I kind of noticed that there was no post from arashi on the BSG finale topic. Is s/he still hanging around and has s/he an opinion on the finale? I really liked his/her ramblings at the beginning of this topic, since I agree with most of them ... Just curious, I guess

Did you really want to open up this can? Though I almost agree with arashi in everyway on this topic, he has been quite peaceful lately and I wouldn't wish his vengeance on anyone.

I do it only because I am worried. I haven't seen too many posts from arashi and was wondering whether his/her head didn't explode when s/he saw the finale
