I read that earlier too... So some on, who do we all think it's gonna be???
I reckon Patterson Joseph is a strong possibility, though I wouldn't pick him. James Nesbitt perhaps. I think he could pull of the eccentric and quirkiness. Hmmm...

From what I've read (though I've no idea if it's reliable), it's either Paterson Joseph, or Chiwetel Ejiofor. Out of those two, I'd bet on PJ being the real one, but I think I'd be equally happy with either.

Hmm, I agree with KB, mainly like she said, from what I've read. Chiwetel Ejiofor would be good though, cool and collected, though I think I'd like Paterson Joseph more.
There was some talk of a woman, but I don't think it'll happen, this time round at any rate.

Hmmm... "youngest doctor yet". Can't be either Paterson Joseph, or Chiwetel Ejiofor then.
I thought they ruled out Russell Tovey a while ago, but maybe it is him.

Damn, he looks like he is just a little kid. But hope new doctor will be better character than he looks.

Yeah apparently that's exactly what is happening, 4 specials, then they new guy (er..kid ;P) starts in 2010.
I'm more than a little worried it will turn back into predominantly a kids show. Ecceleston gave the show a much more adult/darker flavour which was awesome. Tenet was good but not as "adult".

Supposedly Easter, August Bank Holiday and Xmas/New Year (for the 2 parter).
That's the rumour, and I think it's a pretty good estimate.

Please let that happen! I love Michelle Ryan... if she becomes the new companion, this is gonna become the best show ever made! It will be equal to Firefly..... almost....
No, but seriously.. of all the actresses and actors on the planet, Ryan would be my first choice.

If she's not in a role other than the companion she could easier come back for series 6 proper, like Tate did in the Xmas special and then series 4...

Let's get real here! David Tennant has been incredible and just plain awesome but he's leaving which is a must for his career to excel it current state. When I first took a glimpse at the new actor to play The Doctor I was not impressed at all but if you think about it this is exactly what the series need.
There's a picture from a link higher up (see it below) when Matt Smith are in his character as The Doctor and I'm fairly impressed! If it would've been an old guy the show would die, at least for me. Let's just hope for the best shall we!
