Topic: Favourite breakout tv character?

Once again I apologise for falling down on the job recently with the polls.  I'll try to do better.

But today's poll is all about breakout characters - those characters who weren't originally intended to be the focus of the show or have their own episodes, but who proved to be popular so were given more attention.

I've chosen 11 characters for you to choose from, but I know you will all put me to shame and think of some I missed.  Feel free to discuss them here.

I would have to say (although not included in the poll) the janitor in Scrubs....
He's a stand-up comedian, who originally auditioned for Dr. Cox's role. Although he didn't get the part, the writers offered him a one-time gag as a janitor in the series pilot (the scene where he forms a grudge against JD for a penny stuck in the sliding doors). And i quote Lawrence: "When we watched the pilot, we knew instantly we had to keep this guy around". To this day he improvise most of his lines, while the rest of the cast follow his lead.
