i have mostly enjoyed every season of slow horses.
however every season feels "lacking" overall.
maybe its the lack of tension or immediacy. of anything.
i like that none of the event are world shattering.
and some of the seasons fall back on tired tropes
( i dont know when the books were written, it might have been ground breaking stuff in 1970-90) it is a good solid show

i have been told that the seasons match the books almost exactly. and s6 ▼Spoiler the female agent who almost died in season comes back in this season which would really be great
but
s6 ▼Spoiler the original actress will not be back playing the role, ( if they follow the books and it is her) i really want to read the books, but that would ruin the show i think,
and there are few solid shows like this one....

IMO, the seasons do NOT match the books *exactly*. I read them after the show started. Much of it does match, but Diana Taverner's appearance differs greatly (not that it really matters in the scheme of any plots so far), a "bad" country was changed to a different country (again, it really doesn't matter), and I forget what else. It's jarring to me, but I don't remember the show diverting enough to make a lot of difference. BTW, read the books if you want to hear Roddy's thoughts.

Slighty off topic, but Christopher Chung (our boy Roddy) is the lead love interest in the upcoming Netflix production of "My Brilliant Career". It takes place in 1900s Australia. Gotta give him props for not being type-cast, but I'm not sure I can erase Sam Neill from the 1979 part. I'll still probably watch it, though, just to see how Roddy...er, Christopher...does.

Aargh - stupid trailer I knew what was DUE to happen as I read the book but the last scene of trailer confirmed something I rather imagined they'd change. Then again Apple have bucket-loads of money.... Wonder if they'll keep the biggest shocker in there (there's a even bigger one in the book)?

S06E01 Off to a good start Cartwright was never my favorite character, but in this episode he was awesome. Great performance from Jack Lowden. ▼Spoiler Uff, the gut punch to Catherine with that sudden reveal...and Lambs slow realization what just happened - never seen him like this before. Also did Lamb miss the surprise on Taverner's face when she obviously had no idea Slow House got deleted?

In ep 2, it made me laugh when Jackson said, "I'm looking for a f*ing cigarette!" because his voice got just a little shrill! It's subtle, but it's there. Gary Oldman is amazing.

I agree with you, but I also kinda wanna see a "Uncle Iroh" (Last Airbender) transformation happening at some point.
Him in prison for some reason, secretly getting jacked before breaking out - doesn't fit the character or the show, but would be cool to see I could imagine something like this happen in the final season far in the future.
