A lot of total bs and American coping happened At one point I started to root for our irl mortal enemies - Russians In general I cringe when I see any wannabe heroic American stuff, especially in Ukraine context, because it's a war where Americans pussied out. Especially how they talk, that fake af toughness as if you have for 3 weeks defended Mariupol, while drinking water from radiators, evading 500kg bombs dropped on you and firing rocket launchers from windows to tanks. STFU. At some point was used the word "inept" You know what is inept? When you for years know what weapons systems your opponent has, but you are so inept that your command centers are in cardboard boxes and Shahed drone arrives and lights it up like nothing. In 2026. That's inept Or dropping F18's in the sea etc. That said Zoe Saldaña still is great in this show.

make that 3 in a row s03e05... we got a nice little start...but then it quickly turned into blah blah blah and yet another meeting of the brass...So. Much. Meetings. Do we have to get an exposition dump in every episode? ▼Spoiler When Kyle started listing databases he has access to and where he can find information...i thought my head would explode..what was that? Embarrassing to watch to say the least. They could've made it less obvious that they were in Texas...license plates + flag? Why not make it something that they want to hide from her and she finds it out using her skills or something?

I just saw it as a way to verbal cut through the game playing of... I'm a good guy, you're mistaken. {20 bits of gradual back and forth} bad guy still feels his cover is holding up {eventually good guy states why he knows better} Kyle just jumped to the end of that 30 minutes of theatre while throwing down the weight of the international intelligence apparatus behind him; mic drop; knee capping the bad guy's training of how to stretch this out. Not saying that's real life - but at least we didn't have to watch the same long-winded interrogation scene on every Chicago PD/FBI/NCIS show. So I appreciated them cutting to the end. I'm okay with the intent of a verbal hand grenade ending all the make-believe.

I agree with you. It's just the specific way he listed the databases bothered me, not how he did it but the content of the conversation. This felt so lame and should've been cool to watch.

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
Yeah, not counting Zoe Saldaña and few others, this by now became like a bad B movie S03E06 ▼Spoiler Wannabe rambos, bored potato land operatives who freely operate, then a wild Ahmed appears, talks about villages, allegedly has spent 50-100m usd to capture some mid level cog nobody really cares about - why not board the international space station and kidnap some astronaut while you are at it? Then a noob moment that the rambo did not check if the pilot is armed, etcccc. And Estonia has one of the most advanced IRS on the planet, all under the total microscope to check Russia sanctions violations, but here is shown like it's a good idea to do some shady stuff there, when it is one of the worst possible ideas USA lives in a stone age compared to what they have (starting with the hilarious fact that 52% of USA population has no passports). My work involves compliance with financial requirements of diff countries, never have seen anywhere OCD and tech level as in Estonia.

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
Just going to touch on one aspect of that. Context: I've been to about 40 countries over 20 year in the performance of my work, ranging from Lebanon to Singapore, UAE, England and more. > USA lives in a stone age compared to what they have (starting with the hilarious fact that 52% of USA population has no passports).
That's not stone age. That's geography. That's having a country so large and diverse they really aren't needed. You can travel from desert to beach to mountains to green plains all in one country. And its a great country with no real feeling that we *need* to experience other countries. American's don't have to go to Italy to tour wine country, we have that. We don't have to go to Switzerland to ski, we have that. We don't have to go the Mediterranean for beach resorts, we have that. I get it: If I were in London I'd be looking to go somewhere else too. If I lived where most countries were the size of US states or smaller, then yeah I'd need a passport just so I can cross the river to go to Paris for a decent lunch or have to go to Germany because they have that great hobby shop with the amazing paint I like so much or they have the auto repair shop I trust with my car. And honestly - the way so much of the world is being overrun - the *desire* to go to a lot of these countries is diminishing annually. Every year there's more leaks about the UK gov't hiding their knowledge of Paki r@pe gangs and the numbers are climbing over 2m cases now. Nobody sees that as a vacation destination. Nor do they want to go to Paris and get harassed at a sidewalk cafe for having wine by a group of immigrants because its against Shiria. Italy and Greece are in the news weekly with 40k at a time surging the borders. Who is going out of there way to get a passport so they can go there when they can just as easily take a local flight to California Napa valley, or Big Bear or go to New England or Florida? So no - its not about being in the stone age.

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
1x06 This episode confused me...
▼Spoiler Would they really be safe going back to their home? Forget what we see in the future-scenes, at that moment - knowing her home has been compromised and the enemy knows the address - that's not a risk worth taking... Why was she so surprised that the senator killed himself...she suggested it... Doesn't the CIA have their own Wittsec program? As Kyle described it, the FBI program is to easy against foreign governments...makes sense - but isn't that true for the past 50 years or so as well? What happened to all the walk-ins and such, wouldn't the CIA having their own program make sense? So they are talking about getting more intel out of the ukrainian spy (why haven't they drained her of all the information before releasing her into Wittsec?) and then they make Kyle find her. Did it really take him more than 5 months to do that? And then he just so happens to find her days after Joe gets kidnapped? And again, the value of the ukrainian spy seems so over-the-top, as if the CIA has no idea what's going on in russia or any other country they should know about...like Iran? In this universe does the american clandestine services have no experts on the countries they are in conflict with? Do they not have their on agents stationed in these countries? I don't get it.

WilliamDrakeMcGregor wrote:1x06 This episode confused me...
Right there with ya mostly. Not so much confusing as just disappointed with the drop in quality of script IQ. ▼Spoiler Going home - Nope. The agency can sell my home and buy me a new one under a completely new identity. I don't have to live under that name for the house to be mine in a shell corp name. Senator - Yep. She planted the idea. It might as well have been the Arnold Swartenegger scene: "Resign or be prosecuted" from Raw Deal 1985 (https://clip.cafe/raw-deal-1986/resign-be-prosecuted/) CIA witsec - I don't know. Doesn't seem likely. By passing off assets to a new agency that already has all the mechanisms in place for id, passports, buying houses, setting up businesses and back story and credit histories, monitoring their social media for years etc. you reduce the number of places for there to be leaks. Double efforts seem like double weak points. Plus you want all that on the other agency's annual budget request. Ukranian spy - yes, yes...um, yes and yes. None of what they do around that character makes sense until you look at it from the perspective of having a need for yet another girlboss to be the mirror peer to Zaldona. Taylor Sheridan still has to play nice enough with the industry to stay in business. So if you watch the show for more than 5 episodes it quickly becomes clear that if its a male they're meat and if its a woman they're the brains. Kyle is the closest they have to having elements of both. Kidman's husband always seems to be 10 moves more informed than her: I don't know why he's not running the agency aside from being male so she gets to play off his knowledge and insights as her own. I will say I enjoyed the opening having Morgan Freeman just wanting to set up the scene then sit back and enjoy the show as they tore down the senator's life. Watching the traitorous p.o.s. squirm going from "I don't know what you're talking about" to "my entire world and my family's world is gone".

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
3x07 This was pathetic...most boring conclusion to that part of the story they could've done... Thankfully only one episode left and maybe we get a better Season 4. ▼Spoiler This is a stupid thing to say but everything Joe went through was not enough for her character to be this disheveled. Shouldn't she be the toughest of them all...I went back to watch S01E02 and looked at what Cruz training exercise looked like - that felt more intense and heavy than everything here. Assuming Joe went through similar exercises and maybe even similiar situations in theater I just can't help thinking she should've been tougher. Again with the Ukrainian agent...ffs. Don't they realize that they basically say that - in a U.S. military tv show - the CIA and U.S. military complex completely got played...that they had no idea what the f**k was going on and are probably the joke of the spy world right now. Sitting in Morgan Freeman's office and all cool she says "the Senat made a report"...blah blah, the bigwig of the Lioness programm had to rely on information from her hubby otherwise she can't do anything herself?? Pathetic... They all need to go back to spy school imho...

This show is the same as you can purchase a Ferrari, but you cannot purchase driving skills. Same here, you can throw money at big name actors, but your show still is a garbage

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
s03e07 Something came up again that I've mentioned before, but even bigger this time
▼Spoiler I don't think its intentional - I think its how Taylor Sheridan intended to do exposition to being the dimwits in the audience up to speed but... Kidman's husband had to once again WALK HER THROUGH the players, the planning and the thinking. His firm had already done all the work, all the report etc. He had the answer and could have given it to her. But instead it was like walking a kid through the steps of doing their math homework (or a liberal on the evils of socialism in America). He had to take her step, by step, by step through it like he's mentoring an underling. Not talking about if the geo-political landscape is true to the real world - But the mythos of the show geo-politics. She should know this. She's paid to be the head of this group. And she didn't see what was right in front of her, the audience and Kyle (The team 'Ken Doll'). For the purpose of the show thinking "Oh yeah, the Ukranian double agent might have played us." just never came to her mind. Airhead. In the past they've had the husband share a bit here and there, walk here through things so as to not just break the firm's NDA all that - but this time it was just REALLY painful to watch her be so slow on the uptake. And then... He gives her all this to basically save her reputation (and probably her job), the team's position, lives of operators, move forward... And she can't offer any kind of "thank you" for the insight. Not a literally "thank you" in words. Not "I'm going to go take a bath" with a "<care to join me?>" on the back end. I mean... sheeyit the guy at least deserves a happy ending to his night for saving her like that.

I was so surprised by her just walking away at the end as well! I kept thinking "doesn't she at least kiss his cheek or hug him goodnight?"

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
Yes, I don't like absolutely dumb stories. Like 2x rambos with 0 plan on a whim go in slow motion into a restaurant, wait till one guy gets shot, then, what a surprise, shoot a civilian and also in process both get shot, lmao. This show is an insult to intelligence. This season every single episode is plain stupid. A few great actors, the rest worse than some Bollywood movie. And that never ending repetition of three letter agencies names, some systems abbreviations and alike. We get it, you are very important/scary/<insert wannabe metric> Also, if bunch of other shows have woke checklist sprinkled on top, this one has the opposite ditch bs, more than one of MAGA land lunacy moments. Basically this show feels like it's written by some prepper from Youtube academy.

Re: Lioness (aka: Special Ops: Lioness)
3x08 The season finale had a lot of "wtf" moments, but not in the good way. ▼Spoiler Asking to talk to the husband + husband asking for Kaitlyn to step outside of the room - wtf? Going to Gitmo and just so happen to find a guy who was also shopped (?) to kidnap Joe - wtf? They never really interrogated Urimov, what about the first attempt to kidnap her, did they never question him about it, only the Ukrainian spy - wtf? It's not really about Joe, it's about Cruz - wtf??? I never liked the "insert-current-ongoing-war-into-the-story" they were doing. But with that reveal - and all countries involved just being used as a plot-device - at the end that makes it even worse and absolutely unnecessary.
Overall the story could've worked. Season 3 was the best opportunity for Joe to be the Lioness of the Season. And the "reason" for all of it was good kindling for the story and how it progressed (just not for the right person). But the total lack of intelligence from everyone on her side was staggering. I wouldn't trust the CIA of this season to find the Elephant in the porcelain shop. As for Joe herself...sure trauma, suffering and all that was part of her story...but what came across to me was more "weakness" than anything else. I wanted her to be the most badass Lioness of the entire show (and I thought that was the intend?)...but that is not what we got. And the ending...
▼Spoiler a continuation? really? I wanted to be done with this story and get something new. Not very excited about Season 4. I can only guess that half of Season 4 will be about her family drama and the conclusion to this will be the side story.
5/10 for the Season.
