Paradise is set in a serene community inhabited by some of the world's most prominent individuals. But this tranquillity explodes when a shocking murder occurs and a high-stakes investigation unfolds.

First episode looks good. Story was ok-ish at first but became very interesting towards the end smile
Decent performances and writing.

Did not see that plot-twist at the end coming at all - very nice surprise smile
I hope they can keep'em coming.

Also, I do not mind at all that this makes it bascially a Sci-Fi Thriller.

Deserved more runtime:
Abbys | Dead Like Me | Devs | Firefly | Gangsta. | Jack of all Trades | Kevin (probably) saves the World | Lodge 49 | Mrs. Davis | NYC 22 | Powerless | Roadkill | Special Unit 2 | Stumptown | Surface | The Brave | The Crazy Ones | The Finder | The Middleman | Truth Seekers | Two Weeks to Live | Whiskey Cavalier

Re: Paradise

Its alright but I do not like shows that don't tell a story from start to end. This is one of those, the flashbacks seem unconnected at times I prefer a story that runs consecutively. I will continue with it for a couple more episodes now having watched the first two before I decide whether to drop it.

After watching Episode 02 I couldn't agree more smile.

Paradise: it's less fun than Fallout but less boring than Silo.

What isn't?  smile

2020.  Meh.

Re: Paradise

Just finished Paradise not horrible but if there's no season 2 - I wont cry.

I agree the flashbacks caused me some confusion but it seems that's a growing trend in TV...

Episode 7, the Day, showed the natural catastrophe and then the world powers launching (presumably) nukes - I couldn't understand that - why would it be necessary to destroy when nature was doing it for you?   Oh well maybe it will be explained in a flashback

Re: Paradise

S02 tomorrow, one of the best shows in recent years.

Re: Paradise

Now that I got a second season on the air, I guess I'll start season 1 -

I'll trust that review

I think with 9 wins & 30 nominations it's a pretty safe bet.

Watched the first 3 episodes of S02, still good.

Re: Paradise

Season 2 - I've made it through 3 episodes but its a slow slog.

Does this pick up?  Is it worth continuing?  I see it got a season 3 renewal but so far I'm not seeing how.

The above ground so far is darn nice.  Farms, nice weather.  Thrown back 100 years in tech maybe but that's not a bad thing.  I can't even see why that group is worried about finding the Denver bunker because it looks like 60% of population died off through 3 winters leaving a basically nice country to live in.  Its the Old West all over.  Anyone left can just start farming.  Its basically Walking Dead, without the dead - Just a reset.
There's even the same shot of a lawman, riding his horse into Atlanta, on the freeway.  That made me laugh

If anything, if the gov't structure of Paradise tries to take over control of what's left of America claiming "Well I'm the President" and all that - I think THAT would be a problem.  They've survived 3 years.  F! those that holed up in a cushy township.

and Xavier?  Well...

F'ing idealist idiot.  "Hey, I'll just go for a flight and pick up my wife like its an Uber.  1 pack of about 3 days supplies."

No mass guns.  Major first aid.  A month of MRE's.  How about so much as a LifeStraw and iodine tablets for the water?

Season 2 really needed the writers to watch "Homestead" to get a better feel for how things would be.

Nothing super spectacular happens there as far as I remember. It's still good tho.

Re: Paradise

Weird show. They don't seem to have any idea where they are going with it. Still nice tho.

One thing I kept finding myself thinking while watching is that this is basically one big middle finger to The Walking Dead. They always make very sure to show that even the shittiest people are ultimately just people, and that almost nobody is the kind of lunatic that just keeps looking for excuses to act on their worst instincts. When you allow them to not have a horse in the race, most folks really will just choose kindness. Those that don't usually die pretty quickly and on their own.

...or in other words, essentially the opposite of what SgtSaint said. That one is a very american opinion. Which the show is making fun of.

Maybe in some other Universe, in this one no evidence of that in human history, present day including. As soon as electricity goes out, shitty people line up to take over. What you are saying could be semi true in a rather rare case of abundance + law enforcement. Maybe a handful of countries on this rock have such conditions, tho if there would turn off electricity, probably also shitty ppl would surface. Real world example today: research how/why half of Africa is being ran, how their countless warloards gain and maintain power, why etc.

Also, a fun fact - from all countries ~15% have full democracy.
