i live in canada
for the news hour we get 10 minutes of very local news and 40 minutes of "feel good, everything is great" stories.
we will hear nothing about assaults, bank robberies, or other crimes, but every now and then we hear "person was convicted of 25 bank robberies", "person was convicted of 15 assaults" or "person convicted of 18 arsons/ pick a crime"
the entire media situation in canada is disgusting. and that is not even mentioning the CBC

Heated Rivalry is a prime example of the worst things about canadian media. poor content made by government approval with taxpayer funds, to sell government policy.

Same applies to 85% UK shows, sometimes it's even amazing how many diversity etc. checkboxes they manage to squeeze in smile Have not paid any attention to details how that is being pedaled, but it absolutely obviously is big_smile

Edit: Asked a robot, there are some "BFI Diversity Standards" and I guess you need to do them to get gov funding.

The most about this I like the irony that if the exact same way would be pedaled the opposite ditch, there would be riots on the streets. But all is cool as long it's the right kind of propaganda big_smile And, yes, it is a propaganda, here the definition:

Political propaganda: deliberately crafted information or messaging intended to influence people’s political beliefs, attitudes, or behavior, often by emphasizing selective facts, emotional appeals, or misleading claims.

the government in canada is not very subtle with their message to the people
they dont have to be. its pretty much a crime to say anything against the party line.

that is what happens when your constitution says your rights is optional
for the greater good.

it gives all the upright honest people of these minorities a poor image of
approving of the worst actions of a few far right or far left nutjobs.

they cannot even speak out against bad behavior among their own people

Not many of woke infested countries are, except USA for a few seconds now, since elections are coming up. 2026 update: now there are two new terms "Woke v1.0" and "dark woke" - plus it is wokies themselves who came up with this, you cannot make that up. The first one means that they recognize that it was incredibly stupid, but claim that it was in the past; the second one is recognize, are proud and promise to never stop, haha.

In TV/movies the biggest damage is that if something feels stiff and illogical, chances are writers actually wrote a good story, but then had to modify to inject propaganda smile Regarding this particular tho not so sure, I did not watch it, but somehow I think that this one not really fits the pattern.

What tho is subtle imo - how they step by step sneaked in all those "standards" and sometimes even laws. Doubt that it anywhere was from the rooftops announced the the general public, more like random obscure commissions and alike pushed through. Plus there are rock solid Twitter governance moments - meaning, a lot of politicians and bureaucrats sit in social media apps/sites, but they don't realize that algorithms are feeding them a narrow bubble and a lot of them think that if some ppl scream some bs on Twitter, it's a majority opinion. 5 steps later it becomes a policy smile And essentially is not a democracy, because it's a minority not majority rule. And all that Twitter parroting what politicians did themselves, in USA now they call Woke v1.0 - like never mind, it was a mass psychosis, water under the bridge big_smile

Also they for sure copy each other, so what is in Canada, easy can have a totally diff origin. Like for example originated in Sweden, then UK copied, then Canada - and any other combo smile That's why I said that Donald has a few upsides - for example, countries think twice now before blindly imitating USA smile

the funniest thing i ever saw on canadian tv was a commercial for disabled persons tv channel.
a man was talking about the deaf not being portrayed well in the media. and how this new channel
would have various shows that would show deaf people and other disabilities properly in media
and help all the people out there with disabilities feel included.

two week later the commercial changed and the same guy was saying " I'm not deaf, but i wear hearing aids"
and blah blah blah he is a spokesmen for disabled people in media.

i wonder how much he was being paid, or anyone was being paid for those shows
and if the channels viewership is like the canadian broadcasting corporation with less then 10% market share and over 1 billion
in tax payer funding.


with enough money, you can create enough buzz to make any junk show look like its popular
and its only getting cheaper having AI do the work.

as i recall this series was made based on a gay romance novel series with a hockey theme.
so think lower then harlequin romance novels ( which have never been made into a movie).
so the quality of writing is about like soft core porn.

You're already behind friend.  We've moved on to Woke 2.0 (now with democratic socialism).  I'm curious to see how this will play out come Nov midterm elections.  New York City is ground zero for the movement so we'll see how well their model holds up by the time Nov rolls around.
