All things being equal, I would agree with you.
But... By the time they have the new show to air I'm hoping all things are NOT equal.  The studio has been taken over.  Kurtzman and the rest of his group are out as they're contracts are being renewed.  That is WHY no new shows are in development because they don't want his group being attached to them in any way or having any claim on residuals.  So nothing moves forward until they are out on their collective arses.

So even if the new Kirk hasn't been great with current scripts and current horrible directing I'm hoping a new reverence for the show might emerge and all characteristics from everyone's acting, to all the writing to all the directing will improve.

If they decide to let Alex Kurtzman's contract lapse, say their goodbye's, they should hire Terry Matalas to reboot the franchise.  Or Brannon Braga.  Then there is hope.  Given the damage done to trek, Terry would still have to retcon the sh!t out of it, and fire so many people, like he'd need a contract that allowed him to fire at will!  You're fired, and you're fired, and you're so fired!

Alex Kurtzman's contract is just on hold during the merger, so we'll see.  Hopefully David Ellison moves Paramount to Tennessee, and gets out of woke Hollywood, and takes Trek into a new long form cinematic universe that is finally on brand.  Wishes and dreams, like Firefly season 2.

Gawd that sounds nice.  I like that vision.  I'm not thrilled with Ellison's earlier public statement that it was "going to move further in the future than we've ever seen".  But I do like his statements about a new crew and not more prequels.  I mean, after all DS9 took that chance and was brave enough to be a Trek show that WASN'T about the USS Enterprise. That had never been done before in Trek: That was brave a.f. back then.  And we need that kind of spine in leadership once again. (and no that sh!t focusing on the Discovery or the Athena doesn't count as it was Hollywoke cr@p).  I mean an actual Trek series.

That said... I don't know how "Star Trek Year One" with the Enterprise commanded by Kirk comes in to play.  Hopefully it means 2 shows concurrently.  I'm pretty confident that it having a new name is to *legally* separate it from "Strange New Worlds" so there is no contractual connection to Kurzman.  Its all the same cast, a continuation of the story, re-use of the sets - but legally, its a new show.

Don't have a social life, so I do not see a lot of T-shirts.

61, used to program computers via punch cards. And now with A.I. I have to double check anything Google tells me. Or add, as far as I know, to anything computer related that I learned about Computers, via google.

Would tear apart my pc or re-install windows 3-5 times a week. Stopped this when I hit 45+. Now when I drop stuff, I think about if I really need what I just dropped, or if I can afford to loose whatever.

Now I sprain my wrist opening the side panel. Still Run Windows 7, am afraid of new stuff. And my newest PC is 2006.

I am old enough to never do my banking on-line. No social media account etc. These idiots that video record their dirty deeds and then share via Tik Tok are strangers to me.

They were not kidding, when they said if you do not use it you will loose it. I may know a crap load more then my wife, about a PC, but a 12 year old knows way more about PC's and Os's and hardware then I do.

I hate growing old, and not having kept up. But PC's or computer electronics got way to expensive, to keep up with.
And you cannot keep up with stuff you cannot afford.

Just look at the old mechanics vs the new ones. Here is one of the regrets my father warned me about.

Just watching the latest episode, I am only 4 minutes in and am loving this. Anson Mounts acting is superb. He really pulls it off. Cant wait to return with my thoughts on the rest of this episode.

Crap, just looked at the episode description, this will suck. They already had a trickster in one episode. WTH??

The cosmic trickster appears in Season 3, Episode 2, titled "Wedding Bell Blues".

It is unfortunate that Wilbur James Campbell, Jr. did not live past 2011, he would have been perfect to play the part.

Rhys Montague Darby really pulls it off in the looks department. Have to give him that.

As I am further in now, this episode does look very promising, I am glad I  was wrong .

U think I might be over analyzing this? I should simply enjoy it. Especially considering we are 1 episode away from the season finale. Crap 8 episodes really sux.

I really enjoyed this episode, it was soap opera over the top, and the actors played it well.

1 more to go. Bummer.

Oh cool, you are right. Woohoo, we get 10. I could have  sworn it said 8 when I checked last time. Its still 10, way to short for the Flag ship of Science fiction.

And pretty much 2 episodes here as well. Might I ask which episodes MalaNoche?

I liked episode 1 and episode 6, for me they are the best so far. Episode 2 also had potential, it was giving me classic Event Horizon vibes, maybe the lack of explanation ruined it for me, idk.

Anyway there aren't many Sci-Fi shows at the moment, so I guess I'm happy with what we get.

Okay, I looked it up. There is a real plausible explanation for me not knowing cartman. I never liked the show so I never watched it. I also did not hang with people who did watch it. I just did not want to be quoted anything from that show. Same with Robot Chicken. When I do not  like a show, I do not watch it, ever, I have not watched a regular TV in over 30 years.

For the simple reason, that time is precious and my own. I have not seen any commercials. I download what I watch, watch it and delete it. I have however noticed, that the more popular a show is, the less they show you, because of commercials. Which is kinda backwards, if you ask me. And that is how I avoided the plague you call a show.

I even had to look up the show because the vernacular South Park is not in my dictionary, but thank you for making me add it.

As for the soap opera thing. Have you ever watched one? My wife does, every time I walk into her viewing room, I can tell in an instant what she is watching.

Soap operas are over bright, way to much color and the audio has a slight hollow effect. And they talk for dramatic effect, I take it that the audio one is because they film in a soundproof studio. So I can tell. Thats why the minute I seen Anson Mounts reaction, I understood it, and I was saying the same thing. And oh look, it was a soap.

I guess that means other people think so as well.

within the first minute of this episode i was questioning if it was a soap opera or making fun of TOS and shatner's acting.
it could have been going either way.

i would have preferred if everyone has been acting like shatner in tos.

have i watched a soap opera? never an entire one.
but i have had to sit, while long minutes of my life drift away, while visiting elderly family members and they seem to watch nothing but soap operas.
at least most soap operas are bad because they cant do better, and not on purpose.
( i hear mexican tele novelas are even more over the top with crasy writers and crazy actors)
