The show is still on my waitlist. The cancellation is surprising, because it wasn't doing awful and it had a loyal audience. Shows like Nashville or Mistresses also do badly in the ratings and yet they manage to stay on the air.

Sad it ended. I really liked this show....which makes the last episode a series finale...and as a series finale...quite quite dark

You can throw a dart at a board of TV shows and come up with better than 90% of 2026 show.

Eh, don't fall into the 'my generation's music is better than your generation's' and only compare bangers against the worst of the worst.
Foundation and Murderbot are solid. It's a golden age for anime which has increased in popularity and given us stuff like Frieren.
I mean in the time period you were talking about we have all CW shows, Smallville, Arrow, The Flash, and I think we all know how absolutely terrible CW writing is.
It is slower recently and streaming services need more shows and have achieved that by doing less per season than in the past. But then we have unprecidented amounts of money being spent on shows, not that that makes them good as amazon found out with Lord of The Rings and Wheel of Time. Good writers are still required.
Forever was a meh show for me, I remember watching the first 4-5 episodes back in the day but wasn't blown away. I think with an immortal character you should have shown him having more of a hard time with technology and going to therapy for the first time ever or something.
