Still considering if I wait and binge watch the season smile - probably won't hold out that long.

I thought it started this Friday didn't realize until just now that an episode has already aired. Oh, well, I'll probably watch after the 2nd episode has aired then I'll have two.

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

i am waiting to binge the whole season....
it will either be too good to wait week to week;
or so bad i will want to binge pain killer at the same time...

i expect the first.

i really want the show to go the whole nine yards,
but i also want to read the books... but not before the show ends.

Yeah, I thought that could have been done better... I hope there won't be as much jumping around in future episodes.

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

Matt Cravens arrives as a crazy doctor. Every time I see this chap I think of Jacobs Ladder.

@fusion1275 I think Crimson Tide and A Few Good Men, but it makes sense you'd think of Jacobs Ladder as both Matt Cravens and Tim Robbins are in it, but Matt Cravens was in everything in the 90's.

Silo 3x1 and 3x2 are slow, boring, and less interesting than last season, but I still want to know what happens.  They didn't do a good job of connecting the events of last season to this season, like story is missing, is how I've felt.

As to how to defeat the AI in the basement, they'll need an analog approach of some kind to disconnect control of their digital master, like pulling the plug and flipping the digital switch, at the same time as finding the poison used to destroy all life in the Silo and vent it outside before the AI uses it to kill everyone in the Silo.  An even better plot would be to hack the AI and use it to serve them.

This is a great spoiler picture, I want them to get to this moment:

I thought it was just me. I got started on episode S3E1 then tuned out shortly after. It was dreadfully boring. I feel like I've got to go back to S2E10 to refresh my memory before continuing on with the new season.

I'm glad to think it'll get better.

Wait😶
We don't know that it will🤔
The 3rd episode hasn't aired yet🤨

Yeah, same here.  Starting to get that "How I met your Mother" vibe where I've invested enough in to it to want to see it through; or where I would kick myself if I stopped now only to have everyone posting "slow but then wow it took off after No.4" or something.

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

@LuC, ya, if this season came out in full I'd be skipping through most of it as it's so slow; they aren't connecting events well enough in the edit or moving the plot forward fast enough for me.

@SgtSaint, ya, I gotta see it through.  Never felt this way about HIMYM though.

114

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

Slowly we are getting somewhere, but they could really cut down on Sims’s family drama.

115

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

Yeah.  But "Slowly getting there" and "8 episodes every other year" are not words like together.
Streamers are killing entertainment.  The show quality is good most times but I know I'm not the only person that longs for the days of 24 episode seasons that start every year in September.

i don't want the 24 episodes of mostly crap we used to have 90% of the time
but i would really like at least 12 good episodes to tell the story properly many times over
what a show of shows give now with 8..

but saying that i have also seen 10 episodes with 2-3 episodes of junk or 20% of all
episodes just time wasting filler.

so it depends on the story or writing.

badly done is badly done.

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

Well, the only show which NEEDED 24 episodes per season was... tadaaaaaa... 24!

There are a lot of good shows with like 8-12 episodes out there and I don't mind shorter seaons if they deliver. Which sadly enough... doesn't happen that often. Very few really good shows aired in the last two to three years which really pulled me in.

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

303, what a slog, like butter stretched over too much bread, no real plot points or progress, I skipped most of this, and it's not just the Sims family drama that's unnecessary and boring, it's every event this season that's been boring and undermined by:

Spoiler

Juliette's memory loss! It undermines the hope of last season, in that we were hoping Juliette would be telling the Silo the truth and changing the entire context of how things are run in the Silo.  What needs to happen, is to control that AI that's controlling Camille Sims and find a work around for it, as it has false beliefs, but even that is such a boring hopeless storyline that I just don't really care.  I'd rather they gave back story as to the creators of the AI, instead of backstory to all these characters in the past that are so unbelievably pointless to the story.  I will predict that everything that was needed to be said about the past, regarding the congressman, could've been said in like 10 minutes.

Backstory should be compelling and interesting and not this boring.

119

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

I thought the first few episodes of the first season were nearly unwatchable at that pace, killing off several main protagonists in a row before settling on her. The second season started out with, instead of giving answers, making us watch her struggle to cross that broken bridge and dealing with those folks. Point is, this show not getting straight to the point is perfectly on brand so far. Sure, going that far with it is a bit extreme, but at least we're getting answers from that past plotline, and they get a chance to show how everything is supposed to work, behind the scenes, when things are still mostly under control. Agreed, though, that most of the scenes that have any Sims in it feel like a waste of time so far.

Why are you so convinced it's an AI? Do you know it because of the books or is that just something you assumed because it's a disembodied voice? It could be, would make a lot of sense, but I kinda assumed it was a bunch of people on the other end, basically an incredibly unethical social science experiment...

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

has anyone read the books and can say if the tv show is a faithful version of the story, good and bad parts?
or does it read as a much different story?

Spoiler

I think all indications strongly points toward it being an AI which talks to the "Head of IT". The way it reasons about "data and evidence" and the steps it takes/suggest doesn't seem "human reasoning" but just "cold analytics". Sure, some people could behave that way, but I think most won't. Not even evil ones. They would show some kind of emotional involvement I guess.

Ugh!  S03 is a "filler season" due to

Spoiler

Juliet's pill induced memory loss

.  The powers that be really want to drag this show down to a crawl.  I had such high hopes for this story.  I can't wait for hi-power Ai so I can just create my own shows at home, lol

you can do it now the AI software is FREE, ( huggingface i think) but the hard ware will cost about $5000 US ( last year when i looked and the prices had not gone up)
and about 20$ US (minimum) in power to make each 1.5 hour movie the first rough draft.

but it will be as good as avatar in 5 years first time around, if NATO, Russia, or israel does not start ww3 first.

3x4 and 3x5 I'm happy with, it's a depressing drawn out snails pace but at least the story is finally moving forward. Isn't it typical for TV writers to just add another problem before answering any of the other ones, lolz, but I stand by my assessment in my previous spoiler, something has to be done about the...

Spoiler

AI in the basement, and yes it's AI, they started talking about AI in those flashbacks and then the AI started controlling their car, great ending, now I'm interested.

Someone's been stealing supplies, who could it be??, my guess is people from another Silo.

Can't wait for Juliette to fully get her memory back so the story can start, the memory loss was too many down beats and not enough up beats, and since they've contrived everything negative that's happened why not contrive something good and positive for once and give the audience a payoff....finding Andy Duphresne in the sub basement doesn't count, but his info is highly important to victory over the AI, so, should be good.

Re: Silo [Drama, Sci-Fi]

3x6 The Drive, was really good, moved the story forward in a way that gives good reason to what came before, although it could've been edited down by 5-10 minutes as there was a lot of footage with nothing happening throughout the episode.

My argument for tighter editing applies to all shows with 8-10 episodes a season, where there's footage of nothing happening, nothing said, and nothing moving the plot forward, and should be removed with shots of purpose, so they should either write 20-24 episodes a season with more extraneous story with tons of boring footage, exposition, and bottle episodes, or, pace 5-6 really tight episodes a season that put the audience on the edge of their seat instead.  So many of these 8-10 episode per season TV shows have so much wasted time in a show that is already too short and unsubstantive.
