The Westies takes place during the construction of the Jacob Javitz Convention Center on the Westies' home turf in Hell's Kitchen, which promises a financial windfall. Despite being outnumbered fifty-to-one by the Five Families of the Italian Mafia, the Westies' legendary brutality and cunning have given them the leverage necessary to share the spoils through a fragile détente. But internal conflict between the brash younger generation and the old-school leadership threatens to set a match to this powder keg, which will sweep the Westies into the FBI's ever-deepening investigation into the Italian mafia.

Good cast, pretty violent. First two episodes were quite good.

Feels a bit predictable, other than that pretty good.

For some reason this show reminds me of Sons of Anarchy even though they are nothing alike.

Deserved more runtime:

Like it - a lot. And yeah, quite predictable... those fuck-ups and story hooks are a bit too much on the nose....

- Why did I knew they will get in trouble with the highway patrol, and why did I knew they will kill the cop?
- And sure, why, of all places in the world would a Italien mobster underboss raid a Irish pub at the end of the world. What a stupid plan.
- That piece of jewelry... come on... can't be thaaaaat stupid.
- Couple of unhinged irish gang bros go to a club and not expecting it to escalate into some fight?
- Letting the last Columbian go, probably also a very bad decision.
- using the rocket launcher smuggled into the US by the IRA... also very smart decision and for sure nothing can go wring here.

But nevertheless very well executed, likable cast, high production value.

At first I thought the whole point is that they wanted to use them in Ireland or Britain which would make sense...she stores the launchers on the docks and then helps smuggle them out.

But than he says he plans to use them in the U.S. ?
So what is even the point of storing them on the docks? They are already in the country where he plans on using them...everywhere else would probably be better...

Wouldn't it make more sense if he had asked her to help him smuggle them into the country?

Ja, true. Also wondered myself. Only see two options... while the box is technically still in the docks warehouse, police will not raid it and he thought it there it would be "safer" than in his merry bands basement. Second option, he wants to put pressure on her to get back into her pants by sucking her deep into his shit. I think the latter is more likely.
