You are right that a lot of people everywhere feel that immigration is in some abstract way the greatest threat to everything. Maybe it's even a majority where you are. But it's not even close to being a majority in most places. Mostly because people also consume news sources that regularly mention the many things that are going on in the world that cannot possibly be blamed on immigrants, for lack of there being any, instead of almost exclusively those stories.

Sure, but that also does not cancel the fact that in most cases it is a threat - and also easily avoidable threat. Threat level varies, but it's rarely zero. And selling it as a zero, imo, is what is causing the most of the issues. Because it's both illogical nonsense and also a guarantee that threats won't be addressed. And that slowly and steadily snowballs into monstrocities like some AfD in Germany and alike (for example, Donald) smile

Regarding those migrants streams - there idiots were not just who started those wars, but also who let the consequences in without thinking 2 steps ahead.

Re: citizen vigilante

Watched it, here my "expert opinion" big_smile

It sure is full blown cringe, 2/10. Not sure why would somebody want to ban it, except to not remind that their immigration policies are so backwards that guys with machetes screaming something about their imaginary friends from time to time are roaming their streets. Other than that who would even want to watch this garbage.

Regarding that "vigilante" character. He is just some brain dead psycho, nothing of value would be lost if some other vigilante would blow his brains out smile Not counting stuff like causing a fatal crash for no good reason, evading taxes etc., even his 3500 "units" basically are causing a housing crisis in that city, what probably has more severe consequences than for example a single drug dealer.

Did not see any racism from the vigilante here. He was targeting certain categories. If in one of them happens to be somebody non-white, it is not a racism smile That guy with a machete tho with 99% certainty on top of the rest was a racist as well smile

Also it is not a racism to show that in imported into Europe "cultures" indeed exist "she wanted it" (also she is white and infidel, so does not count). If that would not be a rock solid fact, for example, Sweden gov would not publish in Arabic "how to behave in Europe 101" pamphlets, lol. And if you want to hide it, there is a term for that: a censorship. And it does not matter if wokies are doing it, it still is a censorship - this is another 1+1=3, that they for some insane reason think that they are allowed to censor what they wish.

In Croatia uniforms with "SWAT", "POLICE". What budget this had? 300 eur? smile

Yeah, that's not what an honor culture is, an honor culture is one that upholds the honor of the victim and their family/clan/etc.

See the non- in front wink A non-enlightenment justice, something that isn't driven by "Human Progress".

ok that is a clearer situation.

#1 no i do not agree that he is holding honor of the victim. it is a facade. he shows no real interest in her, her history or her situation. he is outraged at the situation sure, but only superficially as its an excuse for his actions, justified his hate.  he has no issue using women and looking at them as existing only to satisfy a mans pleasure. this can be seen in the whore house where his concern for the damage to his building takes so much of his interest its interrupts his transaction. he shows the mold more concern then either the hooker or the raped girl. its a situation that he stops everything to make sure it is addressed.  he asks for her justification/permission for his actions, then never thinks about her again.
nothing he does suggests its an honor killing or has anything to do with honor culture ( which it self has been twisted far out of true honor standards)

#2 enlightened justice is not driven by "human progress". it is on par with "social justice", sound and fury accomplishing nothing but making a select few ignorant people feel better about the world in general by increasing their ignorance of the world.  "enlightened justice" has not proven to be effective in reducing crime. while i do not approve of his methods. i have less problems with a quick and painless death for serious repeat offenders, then i do with treating offenders better then we treat our elderly. that is not enlightened. re-education and rehabilitation has failed far more often then it has succeeded. and that failure has caused more pain, suffering, and deaths then war.
but generally no "enlightened" will accept that no matter how much data they are given.

so no he is not soft and dismissive of crimes in a liberal way, finding any excuse possible to avoid being responsible for disrupting a rapists career of raping and actually punishing them., or protecting society in the long term but that is not "enlightened" when it is a failure.

non liberals think justice does not cry out for "rehabilitation" justice cry's out for punishment and control over offenders to ensure they never offend again one way or another. death is not required, and neither is torture. we have plenty of methods to ensure the safety of society. as long as we don't give criminals more rights then victims or forthright and upright people, there are numerous ways to deal with even the worst of criminals, forever.

he is not punishing anyone. making them see that their actions, the error of their ways, are against society norms, he is murdering them.  he gets the same pleasure from murder as he did from the hooker, and shows similar satisfaction from the act of murder as sex. and about the same emotion.

victim culture is another huge problem. where do matter how someone act or does things they are never responsible, they are always a victim.  but i do not see that in any way in this movie.

This topic has been discussed at length in lots of places; ultimately I think that no answer can be right because the questions are already wrong. Change is always one kind of threat, and no change is always another. But that's not really important here. I only brought it up because some folks, like that party you mention, like to refer to themselves as a "silent majority" of sorts when they are, in fact, a very vocal (though large) minority. Just trying to head off SgtSaint falling into that kind of rhetoric there.

That another ditch, who welcome change with no filter, math and very often logic nowhere to be seen, call themselves also "progressives" - are a vocal minority as well. It's two opposite clowns wilding. Not all needs to be changed, there even is an ancient wisdom - don't fix what is not broken. And this ditch I blame more, because in most cases all it takes is 3 seconds finger math to see that their fantastic ideas will end bad, while claiming that they are about to improve something. And in my book they deserve each other. Like I don't feel bad for Americans, they themselves achieved Donald. Germany the same, there is no smoke without a fire. In Germany case don't see big diff AfD or Die Linke, both out of this world lunacy.

Also in this movie context it is funny that somebody tries to censor - the other side is mass producing their propaganda, lol. And also get upset when somebody points that out smile

they were not censoring the basic story, they were censoring the idea of indiscriminate violence has any chance to solve any problem.

ie: mass murder is a plan for peace.

while the "other side" is more " hurting anyone in any way is never the answer, even in self defense"

both are very bad statements for a government or any intelligent species in general.

Well there isn't technically any censorship. In Germany, the (non-government) organization that usually provides the age rating for movies has so far simply neglected to provide one for this one, and movie theatres won't show it without any rating at all. But that's a guild thing, not a law thing. Why they haven't rated it yet is anyone's guess, but the key word is "yet". It is a country where people with similar views as this protagonist ran the government for a while, to unpopular effect, so yes, it could be meant as a form as censorship. But it could just as well be because Boll personally pissed off someone there in the past, wouldn't put that past him either. The film seems to be as available as any other everywhere else.

Again, that's not really relevant to anything else being discussed here. But yes, thinking the opposite of a bad thing is always a good thing is stupid. Which does also describe part of the issue being discussed here: answering no action at all with extreme levels of indiscriminate violence.

Well there isn't technically any censorship. In Germany, the (non-government) organization ...

There is 7 representative orgs from which "judges" are picked to evaluate movies:

the German film and video industry(partly statefunded)
the federal government(100% statefunded)
the sixteen German states(100% statefunded)
the Protestant Church(indirectly near 100% statefunded)
the Catholic Church(indirectly near 100% statefunded)
the Central Council of Jews in Germany(significantly funded by the state)
the German Federal Youth Council(partly statefunded)

Sooooo.. clearly a non-government organization wink

Re: citizen vigilante

Let's keep this thread about the movie itself - plot, themes, acting, censorship/rating, etc.

Broader political/religious arguments have been split off.

Re: citizen vigilante

the theme of the movie is racism and national pride.
so it is not hard to go off topic when that theme is supported.

maybe we should talk about the movie " the passion of the christ" see how that goes

movies are about society, which mean some are going to be populist propaganda.

if a movie is propaganda should be noted.

some people cannot tell fact from fiction.
