First episodes pretty, pretty good.

FYI:
Clearly there is a discussion page for the show already started.  But if you go to the show page you see the "be the first to start a discussion" message at the bottom.

Re: M.I.A.

I can definitely recommend. Well written show. Sometimes a bit predictable, but fun to watch.

Re: M.I.A.

Finished watching S01. For an action show an easy 8/10, especially compared to mediocre shows of recent years. Not on Queen of the South level, but not far off as well.

Re: M.I.A.

For some reason I decided not to put this on my watchlist, but after all these positive comments I decided to give it a shot.

Yes, looks promising, I like it. Prologue remindes me a lot of The Waterfront but then it takes a darker turn.

However, Episode 1

Spoiler

Yeah, sure...."she" and "her mother" are the only ones who have a problem with human trafficking.

At the bare minimum her father should've said something like "we discuss what we are going to do once we docked"...
But "this is the life we chose" - wtf? I would think there is a huge difference between drug-running and human trafficking - especially for middle man - and that the "men" would have a problem with that as well.

Was this necessary for the story to unfold like that? No, they could have very well chosen all together to free the women - would not have changed the outcome at all - I do not think she needs "guilt" to avenge her family...

Can you argue that the father and brothers had more experience and were more aware of the consequences? Sure, but still pissed me off.

The gator bit was awesome though - perfect build-up smile

Later all this is addressed.

Apart from far too many conveniences this was a decent watch - 6/10.
