Topic: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
Spartacus: House of Ashur

Spartacus: House of Ashur' will be a history-bending, erotic, thrilling, roller-coaster experience that builds on everything that made the original series a colossal hit. The series poses the question: what if Ashur, played by fan favorite Nick Tarabay, hadn't died on Mount Vesuvius at the end of "Spartacus: Vengeance?" And what if he had been gifted the gladiator school once owned by Batiatus in return for aiding the Romans in killing Spartacus and putting an end to the slave rebellion?
Another entry in the franchise Spartacus. I enjoyed the original series quite a bit and was looking forward to this. Although I was never a big fan of Ashur, I still like the idea of a "What if...?" with a character like that. In my opinion you do not need to rewatch the original series to know what's going on. First episode was good. The visual style is the same, writing is decent and the blood & gore aspect holds true to the original series. As expected in 2025, the sexual content and nudity seems to be toned-down quite a bit. From the other cast-members Aeryn Sun...I mean Claudia Black...is ofc the most recoginzable to me. Although I could never get used to the blonde hair . Also good to see Graham McTavish and Ivana Baquero here. Storywise we will have to see, not much to say after the first episode. The last 8 minutes...in hindsight it should've been obvious but I did not expect "that" to happen... ▼Spoiler Not that it matters really, but in the bath...every single male member looked exactly the same - really weird that they couldn't make different looking prosthesises.
Original Series: Spartacus: Blood and Sand (2010 - 2013) Prequel Series: Spartacus: Gods of the Arena (2011)

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
Oh boy, that was TERRIBLE. And so unnecessary.... ▼Spoiler While I somehow liked Ashur as character in the original series and Gods of the Arena... none if his vile treacherous, arrogant, shitty but cunning personality really comes through in the first two episodes. But then: An alternate reality? Really? That is the lamest excuse for a plot which makes no sense whatsoever... I mean, this is beyond lazy writing. This is fucking awful. Second: Ok, yes.... a tiny black girl - in a for the time way to shape-designed bra - will be our next Spartacus. And beats the shit out of full grown soldiers and well trained gladiators. Even rips off a cock with balls with her bare hands... What a joke. Also, what is with those slave girls... why do they suddenly become "strong women", companions and trusted advisors. Did somebody at Starz read the diversity manual? Third: None of the actors or characters really have any personality or charisma to pull me in. Fourth: Well well, Ashur, the LEAST of the brothers - as he even admits - casually kills some dude in the ludus with a broken wine jug just to be annoyed when his doctore tells him "Oh, this was your strongest gladiator, who are we now going to send to the sand?". I mean... this is... I am at loss for word how shitty the writing is. Verdict: Just a very bland spin-off, with a ridicoulus story hook (not yet talking line, since there is none yet to be found)... full of idiotic story telling.

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
After having watched only the first episode, it's not great. If they had done this soon after the original show, then maybe it would be better, but after all this time it's just a bad attempt at a money grab.

Thank you! Seeing IMDb's 5.7/10 rating would have stopped me, but reading your spoiler was way more fun.

Yeah, Episode 02 put a dent into my hopes for this show. Maybe I also watched Episode 01 with rose-coloured glasses I get your points and agree to some extent. It's not enough for me to stop watching (yet). What I noticed after two episodes is the way they all talk. It is similar to the original but they somehow decided to remove even more words from the sentence structure. This got annoying really fast Btw. since when are links this color of blue? In Dark Mode it's almost too dark imho.

I actually like the actor, but I'm gonna pass on this obvious cash in on nostalgia.

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
I liked it very much! the fun dialoge style, the titties and violence, i've missed that! Well, the whole extra life thing doesnt bother me at all, i liked Ashur, so i dont really care how they bring him back to life, and to be honest, if they were gonna doit, i guess that way was fine enough. The girl boss, does get her fair share of beating to be honest, so it doesnt feel like she is a girl boss yet. They made her agile and play around that fact, and she attacks weak spots, so it doesnt break the immersion that much really. Looking forward to the next episode!

I really enjoyed Spartacus, reminded me of Rome. Have not tried Spartacus: House of Ashur yet, but if it keeps the same style I am in.

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
I didn't really like the first episodes, but then again the first 3 of the original show were atrocious too. And then it went to be one of the best endings for a season in my book so I'm not giving up yet.

Also a good point, the first two episodes of Spartacus nearly made me quit, but god damn it got good, glad i stuck with it. But then again, now you should be familiar with the style of the show, and if nothing in the first two episodes gave you anything, i dont know, maybe you have outgrown it. My biggest gripe so far is the lack of likable characters, i hope this will get better. ▼Spoiler Too bad they killed the blond dude, he actually had some potential.

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
I wasn't impressed when I found out it was gonna be 'woke', but thoroughly enjoying it so far. Ashur was one of my fav characters from the original, and deserved his own series in my view. As with another poster, I love the way they talk (as well as the other talents on show:). Considering recent dissapointments of latel... 'Fallout' 'Stranger Things' etc ..I can honestly say that I can't wait for the next episode! 5/5

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
As it got so much praise I gave it a chance. Caught up all the way through ep6. Still terrible! No way coming close to any of the previous installments. Just about everything in this show stinks. And in addition, I think the story arc is quite boring

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
I think it has improved a tiny bit but a lack of likable characters (except maybe Celadus and Korris), it's really hard to root anyone. Like do I really want the Syrian to succeed and I'm like nah. Maybe if it spins off into ▼Spoiler Caesars rise it could get more interesting, but he was a massive fucking cunt as well, so fuck him. Something something sunk cost and it's not like I have a metric fuckton of shows going at the moment so I'll still somewhat enthusiastically finish and maybe it'll pay off. Also wtf, this show is woke???

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
Really enjoyed the season, hope it gets renewed. ▼Spoiler They really missed out in the last fight, they should have Ashur just mop the floor with Cesar, since Ashur was trained as a gladiator. Still it was satisfying watching the end result.

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
Ending was good, enjoyed it as well. 7/10. If I had to criticize on thing, it would be that the franchise lost some of it's bite in terms of intensity. Sure there were some "wtf" moments but they felt different than in the original. And apparently Season 2 is already written but not greenlit yet. Fingers crossed https://screenrant.com/spartacus-house- … ika-davis/

Re: Spartacus: House Of Ashur
Too bad this got cancelled, don't think we will get another attempt at a spin-off for this franchise.
