do show forums disscusions need more than link?

there should be a poll see what the community thinks in general.

do not want you or other to waste their time doing things a certain way
if its really a moot point to the community as a whole

I definitely like having the big three (link, poster, description) on the forum post.
But I also wish for an easier way to do so - you need at least two tabs to copy/paste everything together - yes, it's not much effort, but since all three informations are always the same I do think there could be an automated process to generate that stuff with one click.

I think we discussed this some time ago with the "Start a discussion" button on the show page.
You were afraid this would end up with too many posts that are just "where can I watch this" or similar which would clutter the forum with posts that shouldn't be linked to the show page. I still agree with you on that.

Maybe there could be button added here in the forum where a window pops up and you can just enter the link to the show page and it generates these few lines of text automatically. Just copy/past all that into the forum post?

I do believe this would help make it easier for people to do the first post as intended.

if there was not copyright law to worry about world wide with an image associated with my account
if i could just paste a screenshot image i would..
that would cover everything, be easy and be 100% legal no question

Does the software offer you the ability to create a form so that creating a new topic would be a little more automated? For example, I want to create a new topic, I hit a button that says New Topic, the form asks me for the Next Episode link, and the topic is autopopulated with the correct name, image, and link? If there is no NE link, one would have to use the Request a Show page.

Summaries would not be necessary because, IMO, no one goes to the forum unless they already know which show they want to discuss. The image is helpful for those of us who are more visual, but doesn't need to be huge in size.

@piraterepublic, I think you're overthinking it.

As far as adding show info to the OP's in the forum it's not that difficult. There have been times when newbs don't put that information in the OP and as a result, I am disinterested in the topic and move on. I want to see if I'm attracted or not before I look further or consider. I think that's the purpose of prepping the OP for others.

When people do take the time to lay out the topic/show they're presenting for discussion I've often found shows that I didn't know I was missing and that I ended up watching.

So, there is a purpose for it, a good one. I mean, if you can't be arsed maybe just don't bother?

Now a link, an image and the summary are automatically added to each new series thread (started from the show page) and a notification is shown to the user explaining it was added and to leave it intact.

Hopefully this will help with new threads being properly formatted from now on!
