Re: The Orville
It is time for the show to go. When it stopped being a parody of Trek it was already over. I hope it is gone. The aspects that made it a parody are now just embarressing eg the robot. Lighton's link about future series depending on viewing numbers is bad reason to have more.

Re: The Orville
Ignore season 3, and this was a good show that ended before its time. Season 3 was a train wreck and took likable characters and turned them into narcissistic, meddling monsters. Goodbye to trash.

Wow. While I didn't enjoy the last episode that much, I thought some of the others this season were great.
2020. Meh.

Re: The Orville
The Orville Season 4... While there is fan demand and hype around the show, The Orville may not get renewed for a fourth season after all, and there are multiple reasons behind it. Adrian Palicki, the actor behind First Officer Kelly Grayson, has stated that despite all the rumors surrounding the show's fourth season, nothing has been confirmed. Additionally, all the actors from The Orville's cast have been released from their contracts, even lowering the chance for the show to return.

Re: The Orville
That's really not a good idea. They have a hit show which a lot of people like. I guess Seth McFarland just doesn't want to do it any more he is more interested in his comedy cartoon shows which I have never seen than his popular show The Orville.

Re: The Orville
I read the novella not long ago, The Orville: Sympathy for the Devil and it was both wild and remains very on brand for this spiritual successor to Star Trek of the last century as well as made a fine addition to the OrvilleVerse of stories. If anyone's looking for another episode, it's right there

Re: The Orville
Seth McFarland has had some Joss Whedon sized scandals involving women he's worked with over the years. Considering he dated the lead actress and they broke up, I'm not surprised the show is dying/dead. Also, props to Seth for writing himself into a Star Trek series of his own creation. If that's not as baller a nerd move as it gets I don't know what is.

The one benefit of being a thing in Hollywood is the amount of free publicity you'll get out of starlets throwing themselves at you to get a foot in the door.

Sweet! lets hope he (Seth) can stay on point and not making it more about our current day politics. I bet he wants nothing more than to voice his disaprovement on your new administration.

https://screenrant.com/orville-season-4 … e-palicki/ Not sounding good. I'm... not a huge fan of Seth MacFarlane. There have been some... disturbing allegations about the man, and unfortunately what he chooses to joke about, I wonder if he's really joking. https://www.distractify.com/p/alexa-nik … llegations

I had hoped that, in this case precisely because of the giant gap between Seasons, some reflection and improvement would have happened But yes, I agree, Season 3 was subpar.

Honestly - I thought that was old news. There was never anything official about a season 4 renewal. Just "optimistic" and a bunch of fan talk. But nothing that would give credence to the idea it had been renewed. To me: Its not that "not canceled" means "renewed". Its really that "not renewed" means "canceled" with the official pink slip. I mean, season 3 ended in 2022. Its now 2026. "Its dead, Jim" When I google I get this: As of December 20, 2025, The Orville has not been officially cancelled, but its future remains uncertain. Creator Seth MacFarlane has consistently stated that the show is not dead, emphasizing there is no official "death certificate" for the series. Despite this, Hulu has not renewed the show for a fourth season, leaving it in a state of limbo. While MacFarlane has confirmed that work on a potential Season 4 is ongoing , and cast members like Scott Grimes have expressed continued optimism , other key cast members, including Adriannne Palicki, have indicated they are no longer involved. The show’s return would likely require significant logistical and creative rebuilding, given the long hiatus and the demanding production schedule. The Orville concluded its third season, titled The Orville: New Horizons, in August 2022, after moving from Fox to Hulu. Hulu has neither confirmed nor denied a renewal, and no official timeline has been provided for a potential fourth season. Seth MacFarlane has maintained that the series is still active in development, stating, "We’re working on it" , and has reiterated that no network has declared the show dead. Despite rumors and conflicting statements from cast members, the show has not been formally cancelled, and its prolonged absence from official announcements suggests a lack of immediate production plans. Production Weekly listings from late 2024 hinted at potential activity, but no confirmation of filming has been made.

Yeah, but that's precisely what the "On Hiatus" status is for, no? - Your google summary is even the perfect description for a show "On Hiatus". True Detective also had 5 years between Season 3 and Season 4 (ofc there was Covid inbetween but still)...as long as there isn't an official cancellation "On Hiatus" should be the official status.

Agreed, but resurrecting it now will cause more confusion (and the show is probably dead anyway, let's be realistic here ...).

Re: The Orville
Ha ! O ye of little faith https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv … 236519947/ “I will be honest with you: Season four is written,” MacFarlane says of The Orville. “It’s just a question of when we have the time to produce it.” The prolific producer confirmed that Hulu would be ready to move forward on the new season, but his own packed schedule has made it challenging to find time for him to shoot. “The 10 scripts are done,” MacFarlane continues. “I’m the problem. It’s [a matter of] when I can make that my year, with all the other stuff we have in the works. But we can hit the ground running when it happens.”

Wish I had your enthusiasm, but Season 4 will not happen. Too much time has elapsed. And in order for it to work the timing has to be perfect. And his number one has already stated publicly that she has no interest in continuing. Plus the death of Norm has already killed the most interesting crew member. So for me it is done. I am tired of getting all excited and hoping. Just to be let down. If it is, great. If not, it was fun while it lasted. This constant speculation is infuriating. Why don't we speculate the end of Man, or end of cancer or a moon base? We would have just as much luck getting that right, then we do about a new season of The Orville.
