Why is it whenever I read one of your posts on this topic, robcore, I can't help but think you keep entirely missing the point.

intentionally trivializing tho ...

Just because something doesn't greatly affect the economy, or foreign policy, or whatever you consider to be an important issue, doesn't mean that these things aren't deal breakers for ME.  Which is what I was talking about - the way I would vote if I were American, and the way I feel on certain issues.  So please stop trying to invalidate my opinion by saying they're not not issues important enough for a government to deal with.

Fact of the matter is, and especially in a country that doesnt exactly pride itself with being the most reflecting, self-critical and intellectually sound, it comes down to issues that people (think) they understand. Its way easier to be against abortion (boiling down to kill babies yes no) period than to be pro choice  - where you wouldve to get into the issue a bit deeper and put things into perspective.

When it comes to gay marriage its almost the same ... do you want gay men giving each other blowjobs on school yards and kindergarten rest rooms, OOOR do you want to ban gay marriage?

Are you for or against America? Are you for or against the Terrorists? The second you dont answer for and against, but start to qualify ... you're a communist terrorist nazi in the eyes of some of those 55 Milion dipshits that are just too lazy to think about shit and still voted for Mccain - who btw is a good guy, just sold out to the devil cause he was sick of losing ... he picked the worst time ever to make that switch tho.

Things have changed in America in the past years. 9-11 isnt the peoples number one concern anymore.

The social and neo conservatives fed off 9-11 (they werent happy about it or planned it or some ridiculous shit like that, which is as "taking the easy way out-ish" as the gay rights or abortion issue. Again, its apparently easier to just make a conspiracy out of everything instead of facing the fact that some people are just not good people, but crazy motherfuckers you dont want to have a coffee with. Which btw, really pisses me off about some people on the left that think you can talk out everyhing - you cant.

Back to the neo cons - They had their chance of changing the world and they failed. It started in 1990 when the sovjet union collapsed and since then the whole world steared into an extremely social irresponsible and purely money driven direction. Fair enough I say, spreading the wealth by spreading the wealth amongst the wealthy according to the gospel of robcore - it couldve worked, but it didnt so the era comes to an end and other ideas get a shot. The stock market crash just sealed the deal. Even ignorant people can only take so much bullshit. At some some point they're like yea well, kinda doesnt make sense anymore Sarah ...

With the soft social issues you win and lose elections in the US. Because they are the breakdown of your world view. Neo Conservative, christian crazy and narrow minded v common sense and being liberal and not giving a shit if two dudes have the same last name. The fact alone, that the word liberal used to be an insult, and spreading the wealth was tried to be turned into that as well, just shows what we are talking about here.

This election has crushed the people that used to run the US for the past 8 years and longer. Because people at some point just have enough. Im not saying the other side is bound to be successful with their ideas, they just make more sense to me and I have the prove that what happened in the last decade, didnt work. So I say ... give their idea a try and see what happens.

Its very cynical and easy too, just saying nothing will change cause again, thats a very convenient position. Things will change and while the president is "just" the most importat excecutive office in the country, hes more importantly THE very entity that reflects the moral, social and political conscience of a nation. He's a symbol and you can never underestimate symbols and symbolism.

I DARE anyone (except for robcore, hes obviously jsut stirring shit up, I know how that works) to get into a factual conversation over a specific issue and I will fucking quit my job and make it my only goal in life to rip them into shreds right here ... ... ah well, I prolly wont quit my job and my being involved in an argument depends on my mood really. Usually I jsut dont care bout making my point cause I dont take most people serious anyway.

Still ...

Re: Your pick for the 2008 US Presidential race?

Thats the beauty of it, you actually can decide if you accept him representing, but hes representing one way or the other.

I specifictly meant the US in that regards tho, it's not neccesarily like dat in all countries. Germany isnt one of those either.

Re: Your pick for the 2008 US Presidential race?

Well we have a winner. Seems like he was the favorite for all the rest of the world.
So what I’m wondering is are we (the US) cool again now?

It depends. The opportunity is there now, but it doesn't count what you say but what you do wink

So we (the world) will have to wait for some time to see a difference. And maybe then you're cool again big_smile
